edit: Levi and I are truly humbled by the power of this community. We are now potentially on a trajectory to reach 10k supporters in the little time we have left, directly due to the support from Jason and viewers of this video. It is safe to say this would not even be possible otherwise. Time will tell, and every supporter matters at this point, so thanks to each of you for being a part of this amazing journey!

This is actually a similar concept to a gbc mechanism where a lift arm does nothing until a ball falls into, when it lifts it up and deposits it in a similar fashion. It works with a piston though, not a bevel gear.

Simplification of that mechanical process whilst still allowing it to fit inside a small set like this. I really hope lego make it and also consider other ways to use similar mechanics on other models.

No it wasn’t. JK brickworks didn’t make this, someone else did, and JK brickworks simply made a copy to show how it works. The original creator submitted the design to Lego Ideas. This is explained at 0:31,

@therandomnessstrikes1435 the ideas set was denied. The one that was produced wasn't ideas, it was technic.

I'm in love with this. The only way it could be even better is if the dumping was also made my a knob or lever rather than by just by hand. But still amazing!

This community was integral to our garbage truck project making it to 10k on LEGO Ideas, and Levi and I are excited to announce that our Automated Side-Loading Garbage Truck project has been accepted into Series 4 of the BrickLink Designer Program. This program gives us a chance for the truck to be made into a limited edition LEGO set! We can't share a link in a RUclips comment, but you can show your support for our project by heading over to the BrickLink Designer Program series for and clicking "Love it" for our project. Please leave a comment and share this with friends and family. Thanks!

Not much of a Lego city fan but this is ace! Love the hidden nature of the arms coming out from under the chassis. Very clever!
