I used to stay with my Gran in Wessex Oval almost every summer growing up. I live in Maryland USA, but I was born in Poole. She would stick me in school when I was bored! My best buddy from childhood still lives there. Also I would go to Stephen Gilliam’s Christian summer camp, Maria. We used to eat at that chip shop and eat it at the Quay.
@@LilyoftheValeyrising Wow, small world, my Dad actually lives in Wessex Oval now 🙂 The chip shop in Wareham is an institution in my family - at various times in our youths myself, my Mum, Dad and Aunt all worked there! Thanks for watching, I hope it brought a little Wareham nostalgia all that way to Maryland!!
Thank you Greeno. Just for info, my Dad born and bred in Dorset (Wimbourne) but when he joined the Army I was born in Woolwich, Christened in Bulford, stayed in Wilts til I was 7 then Dad got the job for the National Trust as the Ranger at Hegistbury Head, that was my backyard!! I then joined the Army and went back 20 years after in 1992. Then left again in 2006 for warmer climes, hence Cyprus. Hope not too boring!! 🤗🤗👍👍
Greeno, that was a beautiful video. Your quick tour and description of the town before getting to the food was lovely. Some people might call that meal a "salad", I would call it a "feast"! It looked amazing.
As one of my early videos I was quite proud of it, although I am proud of my hometown too… it might be a quiet, unassuming market town now, but it’s had quite the past, from the scene of Viking invasions, the site of a Royal Mint, burial place of a king, hangings by Judge Jeffries, a great fire, Greeno playing for the local football team, it’s had it all!
Wow! 😲 Lovely to see a thatched roof building 👍 The market that I grew up with (produce, clothing, Knick-knacks and food vans) is now no more - it was there for donkey’s years - it’s such a shame ☹️
Thanks Lile, it certainly is different chattering to a camera while everyone stares at you as if you have completely lost your mind… Just try to shut that out and keep on going!!

Not quite correct about the Kings Arms being the only thatched building in that part of town. There's one about four doors away, and one around the corner in Cow Lane. There is also another near the main church.
Oh yes, I forgot about the one above the Pandada. Didn’t know there was one up Cow Lane, must be up the far end somewhere? And also not aware of one by Lady St Mary’s. I stand corrected 😀
Have you ever been to Wareham before?
Certainly a town where you can find some tasty treats for lunch!
Once or twice…..!
@@timbospencer ha ha! Might be a little while before you visit again though pal, you’re a long way away now!

Not boring at all - it's always nice to find out more about the backstory of people who are tuning in!
Small world! This is my stomping ground, been here all my life and absolutely love it here
I grew up in and around Wareham, and after years of living away just had to head back a little closer 🙂

This one pretty much died out, but a few years ago a concerted effort from locals had it resurrected 🙂
Looked lovely beetroot must look out for. Thanks for showing us around.
You’re most welcome. Wareham is a nice little town, plenty of history, it used to be a very important place!
nice collection of food there Greeno ❤ ❤❤
Yeah, I do like that little market, nice to pick up some bits for a treat picky kind of lunch 🙂
Love how confident you are with vlogging already! Makes it very fun to watch :D

Looked a really good haul. You cannot beat some fresh bread!!
Yeah, for such a small market they have some good produce. And that bakery is immense. The sourdough still going strong for my toast this morning!!
my Rabbit Buttons she loved Carrots with there leaves i miss her wayback in the 70s ❤
My Mum used to have a rabbit and she would always give it the carrot tops too 🙂

If I was a trader I would love the free publicity of being filmed by Greeno. Or am I missing something?!
Not everyone is comfortable with being filmed, and that's fine.
Greeno, 'the last building not to catch fire'...what was the first building not to catch fire 🔥? 😉
Hmmm, that’s a good point!

@@GreenoEats The one in Cow Lane is at the footpath end of Tinkers Lane. Right by the church yard on the corner.

I don't live in Wareham now, but have lived on Sandford Road and in the Quay Inn in the past - my Mum used to own it :-)
This is what happens when the Sun comes out in the UK.....lock them all up...I'm serious....MAd Dogs and all that...
Ha ha - the sunshine does bring out some interesting characters for sure - but given how little great weather we get I guess we can't begrudge that!
At least it looks like England....for now
Do you think this relatively sleepy Dorset town will stop looking like England? Nothing much has changed there in my lifetime 🙂
