WHEW, someone was cutting the onions when Halle saw the personal video message from Chloe, because the tears were flowing on/off the screen. Halle was BORN for this role - just her talent, character, cadence and grace alone qualifies and justifies Rob Marshall's decision to cast her as Ariel. She auditioned and waited the same as the other young ladies who were seen/heard for the role. If anyone is disappointed and/or disgruntled by the fairness of this process, please do yourself a favor, stay home, and make more room in the theaters for those of us who actively support Halle Bailey and the rest of this gifted cast of actors portraying these nostalgic characters, especially my girl Mellisa McCarthy from my hometown of Chicago as Ursula. I am ecstatic to witness the stellar adaptation of this timeless classic!

MY ARIEL 🥹🧜🏽♀️ it’s so wonderful to see the love that she’s receiving because you can tell she is truly a sweet soul and a perfect cast for the role. She is really leaning in to her role of being a true princess outside of the film and an example for children all over the world which is so endearing! But I also hope that as time goes on, we as fans and people can ride for her and show the same grace and love as she gets older and will eventually lean into more adult music and content that will embrace her femininity, sensuality and womanhood. Parents: MONITOR what your kids watch! It is not her responsibility to be Ariel forever! She gave 5 years to this role and is now a 23 year old young WOMAN. This is a moment in time to be appreciated and lauded as a major step forward for POC. I can’t wait to see her in this film! 🥹🤍
