just like his they are billions,frost punk and really any other management game he's played
plays at a crazy in game speed or without using the pause button
and calls the games brutal because they are designed around constantly pausing and taking your time with each placement.
not to say , they are billions and frost punk aren't hard games
because they are, but dan makes it seem like they are WAY harder then they actually are.

Watching this and I feel the urge to play Banished again… it really is a quiet pleasure.

i bought this game after i saw this video and i started it on the same settings etc and i was expecting to be awful but i've been doing really well and after 14 hours i'm still on my original town. although i do play alot of tropico and crusader kings so that might of helped
Im playing it on the same settings and im at about the same point as you and i usually suck at these games.
Its not a difficult game. Dan over sells the difficulty. My brother let me play a few months ago and being the free spirited person i am i skipped over all the tutorials and turned it up to the highest difficulty and survived for upwards of 10 hours.
"You have zero stored food but I need logs so... I'll turn all the food gatherers into laborers to go labor to.. build this forester lodge... which will be right on top of the OTHER forester lodge competing with it for trees, but that won't matter cuz I'll forget to staff it anyway because I need to figure out why you have no food... so I'll build another gatherers hut!" Watching trains derail never gets old. :)
i know this vid is from 2014 but i still would like Dan to kindly make a complete series for this game.

This game looks amazing. And beautiful. Why haven't I ever played this.
When I start a new map, I pause it and straight off build the places for houses, farms, a school, a hospital and (if I can) a fishing pier. I find that if you don't its harder tod get enough food to last the winter and peeps get sick easier.
Surely building a stockpile outside fishing lodges and hunting cabins is useless since that's where iron and stone and wood is kept, and storage barns are where you keep coats and tools and food and such?
Please come back to this and make it a series!!!! ❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏

By that I mean low quality or a style that's a bit outdated, don't remember why exactly I said it, but you know what I meant
+KHCoasterKid Well, graphics are simply the quality of the geometric/effect rendering, such as how many triangles make up that tree in the distance or how many individual smoke particles are on screen. Aesthetics are how things actually look, such as what color an object is or how much contrast a scene has. An example of great graphics but terrible aesthetic would be a grey sphere made of 50 million polygons with an 8k resolution texture. An example of great aesthetic but terrible graphics is the game The Witness.
So, this game has a nice aesthetic but pretty shit graphics, especially for 2014. I hope I cleared it up.

im pretty sure laborers will remove resources from sites where youve said to build structures, as well as normal remove resource commands. also with orchards 1 farmer on a 4h x 15w orchard is apparently the most efficient
Got a mod in banished so that fishing piers are super effective but to offset I played on hardest settings and everyone died within 5 years from freezing to death

I haven't watched the full thing yet, but as well as trees in forest, you also gets herbs/mushrooms etc under the trees so you get a gatherer to help with food. and yes, I AM LATE GAME! I played a medium map AND FILLED THE ENTIRE MAP. He made a big mistake at the beginning, I start with a forester, a woodcutter, a fisherman, 1 orchard (takes a few years), and 2 fields (you start with a few seeds) otherwise your people will starve and freeze. It took me 3 maps before I worked that out. And if you start on an easier level you will actually start with a few houses. As with disease even without disasters you will still get sick, I almost made that mistake myself. Just a few tips for you guys... ENJOY!

Another reason for the illusion is because the movement is blurry, so you can't focus on it
herbalist and forester together isnt a really good plan. Foresters will chop down old trees.. herbs grow near old trees
However a hunting cabin and a forester together can be a good idea

That's not as difficult as you think. The trick is to only build one house for the start. Check my LP if you feel like watching the entire thing. But be warned, it is long.

It IS a bad thing to have an herbalist anywhere or overlapping the circle of a forester because Herbs only grow near old trees. I read it in the in-game help :1
+Cianyx Kinda doubt that, I have two herbalists both in complete forest one with a forester next door one without, both produce fine.
+Cianyx I believe that was a feature that just never got implemented but was preemptively incorporated into the tutorial.
TIP: during the summer/spring spam farmers and when its winter dont have any fsrmers and put them as gathers
