I had known Pete since we were 14 yr olds and stayed close ,if you noticed there are moments when the band all play around Peter as if they are jamming at home rather than live on a big stage, I found it moving because that happened with every group he played with ,even way back...I don't think it happens that much ❤
Remember seeing them live back in 1985 in Boston Massachusetts, used to try to dress just like him go to the used clothing store and get an old Tweety blazer, they had cool old school clothing back then in the '80s
if i had a pound for every time i watched this.... biggest gig of their lives and they turn up without a setlist and rock the show - so untouchable when they wanted to be
I was at this and I'm pretty sure that the psychedelic furs come on stage next during a lightening storm, this weekend was the wettest Glastonbury I've been to but one of the best, no wind and very warm, the rain was refreshing and T-shirts dry quick. my mate drove in and put the tent next to his car and we could see the main stage from where we were camping, £16 a ticket.
This was my favorite period of the band... doing the Modern Lovers, Bob Dylan, The Doors, ROlling Stones, and Television covers.... the drumming was so tight thanks to Pete -- I have some of these live recordings. THey are over the top. Great footage too.. I was suprised to see this on here tonight
sometimes while watching these old videos of the bunnymen i cant help but think about pete, truly a loss for sure.. i did get to see him at my first bunnymen gig so i will always have that memory...
Ted Cantu ya i saw them in 83` or 84` cant remember, then again in 85` then the next thing i know pete had passed, just crushed me, just saw them here in seattle on 23rd sept and it was still amazing but i cant help but wonder what it would be like with not only pete but les as well,,think i would of wet myself if that was the case,,,lol
It's been over 30 years--no harm loading those live recordings on RUclips? Great for old time EATB fans and good for those younger ones to get into band?
Hi. All I can say is a big thnk you. I was there. In the mud.I see you've got the blues in your Wellington boots. They were at their apex. Everything was perfect.
Very nice to see this. You just can't spend enough time in youth to do.see.hear every thing! Time flies where your having fun - remember that you young folk out there! Love and dream and try to take it all in and most of all pass it on!
saw the funnymen dozens of times between 80 and 88. 85 was deffo when they peaked live. Some of the finest moments in the history of rock n roll. Impossibly good, especially when playing at home.
Yup, with you on that one. Big part of my youth and being from Liverpool they were kind of local heroes. Saw some great gigs in the early 80's, none of their contemporaries really touched them at the time. (In my humble opinion....)
Don’t think the band themselves rated this performance highly ...The gigs at Glasgow Barras are legendary.....the up coming gig there in 2021 has sold out,so an extra night has been added.....same story in England too..... still capable of brilliance when on stage......
You can't ignore the Tom Verlaine influence on the band & on Will Sergeants guitar lines in particular. Bloody marvellous. I remember them doing Friction at quite a lot of gigs back then; always a good tune. Although in hindsight it would have been great to hear them cover Marquee Moon.
Thank you very much for posting this. I bought the bootleg cassette of this gig when I was a student many years ago. I played it so much that it eventually stretched of course. This is a brilliant gig. Thanks once again.
I saw the Bunnymen a year or 2 after this in Southern CA with New Order. The show was sold out. Irvine Meadows. They were probably one of the biggest bands in the world at the time. Years later I got a chance to hang out with Ian and Will at least a couple times. They are still my most favorite band of all time. And they deserve to be in the rock n roll Hall of fame!
I bought this on a double vinyl set, Xmas '87. One disc was purple-ish, with white streaks, the other was clear with red drops in it. I sold it to Twist n Shout in Denver, 2012. REGRETTING EVERY DAY OF MY LIFE, since, lol. . . I paid $37 for it, Off Beat Records in Littleton. Thank you Kathy!!

The man really elevated the Bunnymen - RIP Pete

Rest in peace peter. You left this life to early.god bless your soul
Xx
Pete was a beautiful person and an amazing drummer that propelled EATB.

gibbyh65 I saw that line up too in 88. He was one hell of a drummer. He died just a few weeks after I saw him play.

I was 14, this left me with a hangover for a week, bloody cider!!
16 years old I was, saw them for my first time at the Felt Forum in NYC in 1985... they opened with Never Stop and I lost it!
I love that Pete was always at the side and never at the back.
Shows how much respect the band had for him .
Well...always is a tad much... Compare with ShineOn-concert & some others.
But respect obvious, the best genre-drummer alltime In my humble opinion

I was 21.....i loved this band ....i still love Ian .....

They were all at the top of their game. Talk about a glorious sound/time. Love to have witnessed it.

Thanks for posting first and only time at Glastonbury brilliant - from recollection Bunnymen were headline band that year
The cover of ''Friction'' is incredible. One of my favourite legendary bands covering another one. No Way!

Best gig of my life......
Untouchable between 81 and 85.
If they had have done Live aid ( not they would have) they would have been stratospheric.
I reckon Mac would have refused on knowing U2 were doing it.....
@@versioncity1 very true. Would have blew them away if they had been on.

Just been pointed towards this. I was there! My only Glastonbury!
Peak of their powers here, Pete best drummer ever even Larry mullen Jr said in an interview once that Pete was one of the best drummers he ever heard.
This was the best thing I ever saw at Pilton.
Saw them very early on and already felt had missed the party. Such an underrated band.
Great to see this. The Bunnymen in their prime as a live band.
A Banda toda estava virado na gota…belo showww,
I was at this! I had no idea there was footage of the show. This night changed my life forever!

Best performance of "Paint It Black" ever. With the audience rushing the stage!
Best band of all time.
Thanks a lot for uploading. We were at the front, I did an audio tape of the set I no longer have. Great music. Nice nostalgia :)
Outstanding performance!!!
Thanks sooooo much for this - I've been hoping it would turn up on You Tube someday! Bunnymen at their absolute best - amazing stuff.
just brilliant...
Fabulous! Thanks very much!
A knockout performance from the Bunnymen. Absolutely on top of their game for this '85 Glatsto' gig.

debut sattelite & all on your mind next 1987 album
Echo rock. I love Ocean
There were some nice covers in this set.
BOOM
Hammersmith Palais the bunkers of sandbags and camouflage exploding with stroboscopic blasts and the band were totally on fire.83 I think.
Due to the sad existence of. so many insane murderous psychos these days, I hope the stage is impossible to invade.
What a setlist!
Hot hot hot 😉
?the killing moon?
Where is The Killing Moon?
Are Echo And the Bunnymen still together?
Yes and touring
