An Australian playing Wolverine? Yeah that'll never work.
next you'll be saying they want to make some sort of "Cinematic Universe" spanning over a decade of movies
That'll never happen...
That would be like a British guy playing an American Wizard, how ridiculous.
Totally what's next muted deadpool
So you're telling me that Joker will suck?
What, are you going to tell me fucking AQUAMAN will be better than the most anticipated crossover of all time?
"How did they mix up Canadian with Australian?" Because they had a vision of Hugh Jackman playing wolverine
And Scott McNeil voicing him, come Evolution.
Prothetic really.._.. Though i do swear i saw that pryde of the xmen show, was it aired or am i just misremembering
Well you know those two...are like near each other. On a galactic level
@@randomguy2518 Supposedly it aired sometimes during Marvel Action Universe. That was an 80s block with Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, RoboCop and Dino-Riders. Pryde was made using the budget that was meant for a RoboCop episode.
Yeah though I bet Hugh Jackman playing Wolverine in Pryde of the X-men would of made the thing shoot up in popularity.
''Australian Wolverine'' and not a single Hugh Jackman joke? I cant believe it.
To be fair, he already did that joke last year in his Fox Kids review.
THAT's not a knoi-.... Oh.. sorry. Wrong joke.
that was the hugh jackman joke
Margaret Loesch is a badass woman who deserves huge applause for fighting so hard to bring the X-Men animated series to life in spite of the daunting odds. She's an inspiration to us all.
Wow casting hugh jackman as wolverine was way more meta than I thought.
Huge, jacked man.
I always wanted Chris Benoit to play Wolverine...well, you know, before that one thing happened. He was even Canadian and everything.
Right?
Ha ha!
@@longdong1712 Me too. Benoit was one of my favorite wrestlers out of the 4 horsemen, his and his family's end was a god damn shame. A god damn shame...

Think about it this way. Without her, there would be no DCAU or Marvel animated universe (with Iron Man, Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four)
legit geek hero!
Say what you will about Doug Walker and/or Channel Awesome.
But when Doug manages to get people like *the creators of X-Men* on this show, you know it couldn't have been easy.
Mad respect for giving us a rather inside documented look at the X-Men cartoon through the creator's points of view here. It was very VERY well informative.
As for X-Month, Very much excited for that and-....Oh god this means he's gonna review X-Men Origins: Wolverine at some point isn't he?
Only time will tell...
I'm sure it's no harder than getting cast members from Star Trek The Next Generation
in an unrelated matter; my kid is having a birthday party next weekend, and anyone who wants to make an easy 20$ can msg me. it's catered!
@rr ww Did you just basically reply just so you could advertise your child's birthday party?
...Oh my yes. And you can Deadpool will be in it in some way.

I thought for sure they were done when that walk out happened. But it seems more each day Doug and Rob simply threw out most of the trash.
@jdalefan Mike MyChode is the trash that hasn't been thrown away. Between Marzgurl and her false claims on Vic Mignona and Linkara being a jackass against comicsgate I think there was a need for some spring cleaning that isn't quite finished.
David Roberson I was waiting for someone to make that connection
Did anybody else get the X-Men theme stuck in their head as soon as they saw the notification...
No b/c i don’t know the theme
From the man behind the Go Go Power Rangers theme song.
Definitely
Not me, but I do now. Over and over again. Thanks Awsamazing Eden .☹️
You think that's good? Listen to the Japanese version. It will blow your fucking mind.
I highly doubt that there'd be an MCU or a Fox xmen franchise today without this show...and to think it all came from a roll of the dice
Had someone not risked their job and put their heart into making a good quality show there wouldn't be. I feel that there just isn't many people in tv and movies like her anymore.
you are 1000% right, you have to remember this was the time Marvel was struggling bad and image was on top. shows like this, iron man and spiderman made anyone who is now 25 and older now start to learn about Marvel and people started to by the merch and books again. without these shows, Marvel wouldn't be what it is today at all.
Roll but she put her job on the line and put a shit ton a work into it it shows you have a dream go for it
and because of that they are reviving the show
One of my happiest childhood memories was when my dad came home from shopping and surprised me with a Wolverine action figure!! I had already started my X-Men collection, but hadn’t been able to find Wolverine. I wanted a Wolverine figure more than any other character, although Gambit was also on the short list, but my dad KNEW Wolverine was my absolute favorite character. I hadn’t expected my dad to check the toy aisle while he was picking up a few household items, let alone actually buy a toy for me. He just happened to check on a whim as we had taken many trips to Toys R Us at this point and I always left empty handed. My dad officially became the absolute coolest dad in the universe that night.
As they were talking about the "perfect cast" for the movies, I remember hearing/reading (that part i cant recall) that Patrick Stewart was like, "what the heck is X-men," and then they showed him a comic with prof X on the cover and he was like, "Hey! Who put me in a comic book?" XD
Ha! That's funny!
There was a novel that came out years before the movies where the X-Men met the cast of Star Trek The Next Generation and Storm comments on how Captain Picard looks just like Charles Xavier.

Round 2
i hope to see the worst animated movie that has disney label in it: Roadside Romeo... its made in india.. it looks fine (fur, environments... skins.. the figures are fine) but when there is movement its... its a... weird... hands move all the time, there are stutters or shaking.. (bit like in foodfight but way way downplayed). And the story isn't good either. Nor is the humour. Nor is the setting. Nor are the characters... they at least have variations but... all falls flat.

It's something they did a lot in the 80s like with Mr T and Chuck Norris cartoons. Lots of action shows had those animated PSAs at the end too like GI Joe and He-Man. Stan produced a lot of 80s cartoons so he was probably stuck in that mode.

Wow I never knew that Charles Xavier, Magneto, and Beast were all Shakespearean actors in Canada. I wonder how they were able to have the time to act on stage, and forward their Mutant causes... Morph was probably their acting coach.
All kidding aside, thank you for this interview. I have many childhood memories with this show. I still remember watching the pilot, on Halloween 1992 at 11:30 am on Fox 5-- I had just gotten Superman The Man of Steel #18 the same day.
I loved the show as a kid, and was blown away at how serious and at times dark it was compared to other shows at the time. I loved the animation, specifically the studio that worked on the first season-- before the Fantastic Four style animation (I never liked that style). My dream X-Men show would be the Toei style animation from Pryde, combined with the dark and dramatic tone and writing of the Fox X-men.
I also owned most of the ToyBiz figures, the VHS tapes (Enter Magneto/Deadly Reunions was the first I owned), I also had X-men Children of the Atom for Sega Saturn, and X-Men Mutant Apocalypse for Super Nintendo.
In all fairness though shows like Super Friends and most American 1970's and 1980's cartoon shows were toned down, due to some parents complaining about violence-- thats why shows of the 1970's and 1980's were softened (unless it was robots getting destroyed). Before that, action cartoon shows were at times dramatic and violent (just look at Jonny Quest).
One of the cool things related to this show, is that many of the voice actors were later in Resident Evil games-- the voice recording for the original Resident Evil 2 were recorded in the same voice over studio as the X-Men show.
Let's not forget that, apparenly, Wolverine was voiced by a broadway star.
Margaret Loesch has become a new hero of mine. X-Men Evolution will always be one of my favourite cartoons, and it also got me to look back at other X-Men things, since I didn't watch this one when it first came out. I went back to it and it became another firm favourite for me. Very different tones, but both very important to me. I'm so glad she fought for this to happen :D
I also love these two as well. So glad they were on the show.
Excited for X-Month. Kinda hope that you do X-Men Evolution in there somewhere and not just the movies, but I think that's possibly hoping too much...

@@vernonhampton5863 problem he is venom now
@@SkyeAndJulia that's like saying Chris Evans can't be anyone but that guy in the Losers, yet he was in Scott Pilgrim, Fantastic Four AND the aforementioned Captain America. So... you were saying?
@@vernonhampton5863 Welll First off... No need to get butt hurt so easily.. Second... Chris Evans was terrible in Fantastic four and the other one was garbage too... Third Tom Hardy is signed by Sony for more venom movies and cameos so he can't... And if you say Chris Evans did both Johnny storm and Steve rogers problem he didn't play both at the same damn time... Why you ask because they were years apart, so for him to be wolverine it would probably be 10 to 20 years before he can cause all the movies as venom he will be in.. So for Tom Hardy to be Wolverine right now 2 things need to happen 1 all venom movies and cameos have to be scrapped aka he needs to be fired by Sony. 2 Marvel has to hire him and want to hire him as wolverine.

I literally met them on Saturday, along with Director Larry Houston at Pensacon . Such lovely people that LOVE to share stories. Great video.
This was great Doug! It was hilarious when the creators started making chicken noises at you, and they gave great info. I have interesting memories of this show - I watched it very young in the late 2000's, and the reruns were mostly on, once later in the day as it had long since ended. I had no idea how immensely popular it was until I was much older, it seemed like a little show that didn't get much attention to me. It used to air back-to-back with the 90's Spider-Man show. I remember both shows being entertaining, but actually a bit depressing (not in a bad way, it's just that serious things happened in both, and the tone was very palpable to me). I had never experienced a show with a darker tone and this was new to me - Sad things always seemed to happen in both - Spider-Man was always getting blamed for things by the media, or blaming himself for things, and X-Men eps were often filled with tragedy - Rogue couldn't touch anyone and was depressed, I remember the "Beauty and the Beast" episode being especially depressing, I really felt for Beast not getting to be with the person he loved, and all the anti-mutant hysteria and hatred. Professor X's relationship with Juggernaut, Lady Deathstrike's hatred for Wolverine etc. There was quite a bit of lighter stuff too though.
I remember seeing both shows as epics, and that made them especially enthralling. There was a mythology that both had, that was awe-inspiring in scope and extremely exciting when it came to pondering whatever the future could hold in such richly developed and well-defined worlds. These were really great childhood shows to be thankful for, and gave so much more colour to life with all the imaginative stuff on display. Anyway, please review X-Men: Evolution and Wolverine and the X-Men for X-Men Month Doug! Remember it's on film that you've committed to this, and now there's no going back!

As an aspiring writer, one of the magical things about X-Men that I found was that it made you care. It made them more than just fantasy characters, they had problems, aspirations, things that made them, them. Early animation and voice acting reared their heads but that was just the time. Show's like this, Batman, just all the goodies on Saturday morning cartoons made me sit down in front of the TV in my jams with my trusty bowl of cereal just waiting to seeing a commercial for new episodes. This show was part of my 90's kid experience and I wouldn't take it back for the world. Thank you for fighting for X-Men. And thank you for putting time, a thing most precious, into it. We don't see that too often these days. Love the sit down review and in-depths with the creators and the commentary and questions as well. What a good time it was to be alive.

Let them know , I said thanks for all the great after school afternoons as a kid eating fruity pebbles and watching there show !
Kitty Pryde instead of Jubilee and it would have been perfect. Just sayin'
Evo fan?
@@TiagoTiagoT Just a fan of the comics and saw how much of Jubilee was a little like Kitty Pryde/Sprite days but Kitty was a more interesting character. Just my opinion

You know what I’ve can’t wait 😜 for X-Men 97 that’s going to be Streaming on Disney+ soon! 🔜
Amazing that X-men had such a long journey to get to where it was. It was fascinating to hear you talk about the probability that children weren't ready for something like X-men too.
Remember when January was the special month? Only OG fans will remember :)
Yes, the last two years he did not bother doing that. I'm glad that he is finally doing a (non-holiday) theme month again.
Bring back SEQUEL MONTH please!
Storm x Wolverine were a thing?!?!?! 😨 Well I like both characters so, okay 👏💕
a guy that isn't clingy can be a rare thing
@@RW77777777 lmao if he doesn't stab you at night from a night terror
Yeah apparently. It seems forced.
mil mil From what I understand, Storm and Wolverine had some sort of relationship in the comics. Too serious to be "friends with benefits" but not serious enough to be official.
Kubo Edgeworth I think you’re right because I’m pretty sure I remember reading a Deadpool comic that had him walking in on them the morning after to question Logan about something. And it ended with Wade bidding them farewell with storm, who was hiding under the covers and was unknown until he said her name, meekly saying goodbye back to him.
Edit: I remember now, this exactly happened in Deadpool’s The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly story arc.

Funny to be back here 5 years later and we have had 5 great episodes of the X-men 97 Follow up, Doug’s work also always holds up
OMG this is so amazing, X-Men was one of my favorite shows growing up, animated or not, so awesome to be able to get the story behind the magic! Thanks for this!!
Claire Redfield as Jubilee and Aisha Clan-Clan as Rogue
Smith Wesson Catherine Disher, Jean Grey was the voice of Jill Valentine in Resident Evil 3: Nemesis 😊
@@Lady_Yuna So Jean and Jubilee are the closest we'll get to a Claire and Jill team up?
This is why I watch. All the behind scenes talks / great comedy mixed in. I'm very excited for X- Month!! Gonna be the next best few episodes (including this one)

My mouse hovered over the area where Skip This Ad usually appears until I noticed it's done by Doug. Death kept me watching. Thanks :D
Reason why i like wednesdays: Watching Death Battle and watching your reviews every 6pm.
傭兵Cloud and even jontron made something
I wished they could have said which castings in the movies were not their favorite. I think I know lol (we all know lolol), but I wanted them to confirm...
Which ones would you suggest?
X-Men was before my time, I watched X-Men Evolution.
