Thanks Mike I’m so glad you’re loving Farnsey- another suggestion is to look at Angels - he sings with Lisa Edwards and it’s absolutely mesmerising. PS start to take note of Johns microphone skills- he’s a master!

This is from the Album Playing To Win by The Little River Band where he sings Lead Vocals. I think he recorded about 5 albums with the band all worth a listen!

He does an 'a cappella' version of amazing Grace with two of his backing singers that is spine tingling

I’m glad you liking John Farnham.
Playing To Win originally released 1984 is John’s signature song during his 4 years with The Little River Band from 1982 - 1986
Age Of Reason 1988 is he’s second biggest successful single under You’re The Voice .

I saw the Playing To Win Tour in 1984. I thought it was a great concert. The song Playing To Win in that concert pales in comparison to this.

You must react to John and his long time backing singer Ms Venetta Fields "LIVE" singing Amazing Grace, "acapella", toward the end they are joined by one of John's other backing singers, Lindsay Field and the band for an amazing finale. THAT will give you goosebumps.
Ms Venetta was once an IKETTE for Ike and Tina Turner and she was a backing singer for Pink Floyd, Humble Pie, Barbra Streisand, Elkie Brooks, Neil Diamond, Steely Dan and The Rolling Stones.
You saw him pick up the panties? That turned into a long time running joke. As the years rolled on he would complain about getting old, and the ladies would throw grannie panties onto the stage.
He has an amazing sense of humour.

Hi octane performance. Aside from the MSO John always drew top notch musicians to perform with him. Excellence attracts Excellence! But just think how much of a Buzz the Orchestra must have had - compared to their 'usual gigs'. So great.
And... was that some girl handing him her knickers - that he put in his pocket!?! His wife; Jill would have had something to say about THAT! Hmmm. 😆

I so glad that you’ve now seen Help and Playing toWin as they’re a terrific demonstration of is performance range - absolutely killer vocal in the slow and beautiful version of Help to the dynamite rock powerhouse of Playing to Win. As a rule for John Farnham, always seek out live versions of his songs that you are recommended. He is one of the few artists that is vocally better out of the studio.
Perhaps my favourite vocal performance of John’s, and one I cannot recommend highly enough for anyone interested in either (and especially both) theatre and vocal prowess, is this one:
    ruclips.net/video/k5woMZtClhI/видео.html
John plays the role of Jesus in the stage production Jesus Christ Superstar. This song being the solo Gethsemane. His interpretation changes up the traditional focal point of the song from the C5 on “Why” (I think he still hits the note) to somewhere else that I won’t spoil. And in my opinion it’s better for it as it matches the emotion of the lyrics better.

Glad you are becoming a convert. John was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame and this performance of You're The Voice performed in front of his peers, will give you a perfect example of the high regard he is held in in Australia. This was a song John Farnham played when he was with the Little River Band. Check out "Night Owl", "Take It Easy On Me" and "Cool Change" . Not sure if John was in the band with these 3 hits, but it's LRB was a gr8 band.

    • @markjames3522
      @markjames3522 2 года назад

Those songs are Glenn Shorrock as the lead singer but American bass player Wayne Nelson is vocalist on The Night Owls .
John Farnham most popular Little River Band songs
The Other Guy Aus #18 , USA 11
      We Two Aus #49 , USA 22
Down On The Border Aus #7
You Driving Me Out Of My Mind USA # 35
Playing To Win Aus # 59 USA 60 even it chart position was mediocre Playing To Win is John’s signature song from he’s days with LRB , he wrote it .
When The War Is Over ( Cold Chisel cover ) didn’t chart but John vocals and the bands harmonies absolutely amazing on this song .

I’ve been a long time Farnsey fan, but somehow only recently discovered “We Two” from his LRB days. Damn… that’s a good song. And the measured use of his belting voice is =chef’s kiss= sublime as it makes it hit harder when he does use it.
