Excellent review I have the lace up and was thinking of the boa Thank you for clearing up the decision in regards to the boa

Love the BOA. I have learned is to pull the bottom up a bit similar to laces when you are tightening. After a bit as they settle, turn the buckle a few clicks and they will be perfect. The cables don't hold water/ice like traditional laces so they don't accumulate extra weight. BOA is an amazing, yet simple design.

I just tried the BOA on today in store, and this exactly what I determined. Just can't tighten the entire boot enough with them, but I love the boot. I just ordered the lace version.

I just received a pair of the BOA type. I have worn them on one long hike and one short hike in the CO Front Range. I find that just a little walking allows the tension to equalize from top to bottom. For me, this delay is far outweighed by the convenience.

I've got about a month of daily wear on the 4014 Lynx with the BOA system (maybe 150-175 miles). You have to let the lining and tongue sort of pack down for a week or two before they really get comfortable and the BOA system settles down. The 4014 is hands down the most comfortable, adjustable pair of boots I have ever owned. They do require some adjustment right after you put them on and may require some adjustment during the day, but adjusting them is fast and simple. Just my 2 cents.

I just bought a pair of the laced version. I wanted a hiking boot with a higher ankle. I have a pair of the 996 vioz and love them except for their lower ankle. Figured I'd get something that I know I'll like then try something new. Good thing I didn't get the boa I guess.

i just bought a pair of burton boa snowboarding boots. this boa system has 2 dials, one for each part of the boot (foot/ankle). I find it a lot more reliable and more functionable than single dial boa systems. Zamberlan should definitely make this a reality

Love the lynx with the boa! I dont experience the issue of feeling like my foot isnt snug. Great boot, first really stiff sole boot, so good for sidehilling and mobbing.

Certainly a personal preference. But I would agree with you. I've had the boots now for about a year and I love them. Just as you said great ankle support for sidehilling for such a light boot

I get blisters from these so badly. I kept them for two seasons of hunting and both times very bad blistering. I have hiked in them trying to break them in and no luck. I have tried hiking socks and thicker socks and still the same result. I do not like the boa at all. I like the quickness, but not at all whole boot.

How are the Lynx as far as foot width? I see that they have a regular and a wide, but I've seen videos where guys talk about their feet 'swimming' in the regular. Maybe they don't have wide feet, but...
I wear a size 13 and have a pretty wide foot, so I am curious. I wish I'd have tried some Zamberlan's on while I was looking at Crispi for hunting/scouting and Altra's for trail hikes at Scheels last weekend. It's a pretty good trip to try on some more shoes

They do have quite a bit of room in the toe box. Which is one of the reasons I love them. Some other brands don't leave enough room for my toes. But I do have pretty wide feet

@@garohachigian339 I ended up getting 1996s in regular and had to go to Leopards in the wide because of the instep and to a lesser degree the width. But they are super comfortable.

Nice, never had a chance to try them but I've heard good things.

I have b-c width feet and the 4014's fit perfectly. I'd call them a narrow last. The size 13 fits like a Salomon 13, but a smidge narrower. I have a pair of Crispi Lapponia II's that feel much wider than the Lynx in a 13, if that gives you a frame of reference.

Do you think the lynx would be a boot worth looking into for hill country whitetail hunting?

    • @garohachigian339
      @garohachigian339  2 года назад

Sorry for the late reply. I don't have much Whitetail experience. I use them for early-season Blacktail and elk and they do very well. Great ankle support and a pretty stiff soled. I also like the toe rocker

They just need dual zone BOAs - one for the bottom one for the top - lots of snowboard boots do this

I purchased the BOA recently. They're fine. Tighten the bottom, hold like you do with laces, and tighten again. Once you take a few steps, they balance out.

Really don’t want that reinforcement on the toe.

    • @garohachigian339

For what I do it would help. The toe is all chipped up from up hills in the loose stuff. Certainly not a big deal but they would last longer for my application if they had a toe rand.

The big upside to laces is field repair. If you could pull the BOA stuff out and easily replace it with other cordage in the field, they would be a lot more attractive to many of us. In the end though, laces have worked for centuries, and I've never been in that big a hurry to get my hunting boots on.
