NEO-UMBRELLA J'AVO ARE STAR WARS FANS CONFIRMED 2:05 Here's the actual translation: "Priđi im iza leđa! - Go behind their backs!" 3:05 I made a bit of a mistake in the phonetic spelling here. It should be "saat saai keoi DEI" and not "deoi" oopsie :P 4:54 I know the quote shown sounds nothing like what's actually being said but that's what the translator wrote down so I just decided to use it anyway. 4:57 he actually says something in Spanish even though he is Chinese, he says "te voy a matar" what in English is "I'm gonna kill you" it's weird coming from a Chinese j'avo but if you pay attention that line is in Spanish
@@BlackDog0620 Tbh i thought he said "te voy a matar" too at first but i doubt they'd randomly give chinese enemies a spanish line for no reason whatsoever. Besides, even the edonian enemies sometimes say their lines so aggressively to the point that they sound slightly slurred

Shame RE8 doesn't have Romanian voices. I hate how everyone there just speaks perfect english, even the isolated villagers, its quite distracting. Also the four lords and Miranda have no unique accents. Miranda, Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters should've had Romanian accent, Donna Beneviento italian, Moreau french and Heisenberg german.
@@DaLonelyLonelly now I know Neo-Umbrella J'avo are just speaking gibberish and reversed English, it always sounded like a weird hybrid language to me.
@@LeeryGiant4149 It's pretty weird. What they did was layer both the forwards and reversed audio on top of each other. And then they just made some of them sound like Yodanese for whatever reason 😂
@@Sir_Bucket Similar yes, but this is serbian for a simple reason: they are not speaking in Ijekavian and certain yat reflexes are not being used, phoneticaly sounding different. Bosnian/croatian would say "smJesta" instead of "smesta", "vriJede instead of "vrede" etc., there is a sound to it that is recognizable. :) The county of Edonia is certanly made up but the language used here is def serbian.

It's meant to invoke the imagery of insects (the whole theme of J'avo). It's a great visual design detail that emphasizes that even in their "human like" form they are already fully transformed monsters.
I wonder why they felt the need to reverse the lines of the Neo-Umbrella ones, maybe to make them seem even more mutated? I honestly would love a Ganado-like enemy that all spoke English, would be real fun hearing a bunch of English va screaming all sorts of angry obscene things.
@@FireXConor Given how the Neo-Umbrella J'avo are "more advanced" (such as mutating at will and such) and their facial design, its also not hard to assume the strain of the C-Virus messed up their vocal cords and such. The design team probably wanted them to have some form of distorted speech but decided to go with reverse English
For 6:01 I’m sure that it was “cover me”,cause it is on the same position as the other J’avos does which is used as a voice for cooperative skill (like you see the beginning of Ada 3-1)
I mean it does add to the immersion when are left untranslated. As much as I want the enemies to be subtitled, imagine how difficult it would be to subtitle like dozens to hundreds of enemies talking all at once 💀
@@DaLonelyLonelly right. But the Chinese these guys are speaking I think is Cantonese which is a bit more complicated to learn and speak compared to Mandarin
Finally! Thanks so much for making this video! It's super interesting that the Neo-Umbrella J'avo speak in reverse. This does make them sound cool but thematically and story wise it also separates them from the regular J'avo as creatures onto themselves. The regular J'avo are just infected people, they have mutated into horrible monsters but they still retain their link to humanity through their language. Neo-Umbrella J'avo on the other hand, are like a new species for a new world, they have no link to humanity or a former life, they exist as complete drones. It being reversed also highlights the fact they are parodies of what was once a human.
I remember back when this game came out, the "ne mozes minista" stuck to me, and i used translate detect language via voice, and it translated to "you can't do anything to me" It was funny cuz I learned the word by hearing it, like a babies do 💀💀.
Dude my native language is Serbian and that word you scrambled makes no sense, it's not used neither in Slovenian, Macedonian, Croatian.. The word he mumbled is more like "Priđi" which translates to "Come closer", it's the only word in Serbian that I know of that could logically fit in there.

Basically the Huntsman enemies in Bloodborne and the Splicers in Bioshock.
Maybe to make them seem more tactical, like the Deathtroopers in Star Wars who have their voices scrambled so the enemy can’t understand them.
