    I love almost all the Resident Evil games. Not all of them are amazing but I love this series none the less. For resident evil 6, I appreciate the intertwining stories with the multiple characters in this game. Yeah, its not a horror game, but it gave us a few new characters and expanded on the lore which I always appreciate.

    • @Noname15514
      @Noname15514 2 года назад +5

      Expanded on what? This terrible game gave you more questions than answers. You can tell Capcom won't bother even to try to fix that mess as RE7 and RE8 acts like that plot doesn't exist.

    • @rometherevenant8749
      @rometherevenant8749 2 года назад +60

      @@Noname15514 Try to look at Resident Evils main timeline in totality. Resident Evil 6 does not need to expand in the lore in terms of some kind of virus that exists to improve on another virus. The Resident Evil 6 story purely exists just to be a set of events that intertwined characters that would otherwise not even have met face to face, but because of the epidemic and scale of the C Virus and what countries it affected, it brought Leon and Chris together for the first time, something thats never really happened with reoccuring protoagonists. Look even up to now, we still havent had Jill and Claire meet despite their very close relationship with Chris. Same with Leon and Jill. Despite 6 not being amazing, its still important as an event timelime due to the closing of Resident Evil Revelations 2 which was important due to Claire revealing her knowing Pearce, who ended up being a close friend to Chris who was already experiencing PTSD after the events of 5. Resident Evil 6 as you said led to Capcom giving the series a course correction and to have them improve on not just the horror aspects, but the writing as well with the introduction of the Megamycyte and Oswell Spencers influence which takes the series in its full circle. I understand that Resident Evil 6 isnt the best Resident Evil game and yes it may have not expanded or pushed the series forward, but I appreciate the multi character setup and intertwining campaigns. Its a first that Capcom ever made a game this long in campaign for Resident Evil and like I said, it may not be a great game, but its still part of the main timeline.

    Another Unpopular Opinion :
    I LOVE THIS GAME. It lost it's horror theme but focus in the story of the Hero's Journey on Fighting the Bioterrorism based on their Horror Experience in the Past Games (don't get me wrong, I was born in 1990 and I LOVE OG Trilogy). Although it seems thay way, the 4 campaigns is lore rich and diverse in gameplay which for me a Perfect Modern Resident Evil (NO DLC BS! You BUY AND ENJOY THE GAME!) and I prefer this RE over 7 and 8... I just don't like the very very slow build up, uber gore / dark theme and nausea inducing 1st person view.

    This series’ lore always took itself just one click too seriously. Like, yeah, it knows it’s silly sometimes (e.g. RE4), but particularly in the animated movies and stage musicals it’s clear that they WANT their cast of characters to have a genuine dramatic complexity that they’ve never earned. It’s like the cast of GI Joe trying to do The Cherry Orchard; like, either lighten up a bit or actually, fully commit to it - you can’t have rending intrapersonal trauma AND eat gibble boulder-punching sandwiches, too.

      I was honestly trying to come at it without any prejudice but it's just really bad.

      @@chucklebutt4470 I can agree with that. While I loved the game I would definitely love a game that is just as long, but focuses on one specific group instead of having three campaigns. That could really flush out the lore and add some depth to the characters you were playing. I like to take games as they are... Resident Evil want's really horror games for me since my first one was RE4... 6 was the best for me, a large game with campaigns putting the pieces together to form a complex, yet interesting story. Also, every story has a different tone/theme: Leon's is more horror with less ammo and darker, Chris' is shoot them up (like RE5), Sherry's have you been hunted by an enemy you can't defeat (like Nemesis in previous games) and Ada's solves the mystery of her other self...

      I loved their campaign until the end, I felt like Simmons was such a ridiculous concept, way more ridiculous than we've already seen in RE4 and RE5 with Giant robots and eel parasites. I also didn't like the oversexualization of every female character, Helena's sister is literally naked and has insane jiggle physics and poses sexually mid boss fight, Sherry is naked and then scantily clad in Jake's campaign, Carla is shown fully nude exiting her chrysalis which that one is understandable but the camera angles were iffy. I have a huge issue with Sherry Birkin's unlockable costume because it's borderline pedophilic, it's her clothes from RE2 but they barely fit and look like a "slutty student" halloween costume.

    Really love the combat and the amount of freedom you get in this game. Because of this game, i couldn't bear the clunkiness of older titles, even re5 felt pretty clunky compared to 6. The remakes' combat weren't as light and free as 6 but it was so much better compared to older titles, and they felt just right. Being able to dodge when you wanted in re3 remake felt good too. Surprisingly, i liked revelations 1 despite the movement controls being a bit clunky

    • @Instaqixx
      @Instaqixx 2 года назад +1

      Resi 6 had really deep combat, with counters and dodge mechanics is was awesome. I don’t know if would say the combat was “better” than older titles, as the titles were made to be slower and more restricted, adding to the brilliance of the older games.
      However, 6 did have different combat, way deeper, way cooler looking. But a lot of resi fans don’t care to be flashy they care for the survival horror.
      That being said, resi 6 is still a game to this day that I will redownload and play from time to time, pvp was incredible, learning every counter hit felt like an achievement. This game breathed fresh air into the resi series and albeit a unpopular opinion, I fucking loved it.
      I would love to see this combat system expanded upon in a resident evil game some day, because I’ve never felt more badass in a game than resi 6. And Leon’s fighting a style is begging for a 6 2.0
      Tl/dr - resi 6 is an incredible game worthy of your time and you should definitely give it a shot. (Aimed at readers not LK as he’s obviously played it)

    RE6 is a mess.
    Every story never feels like it got time to breathe from a storytelling or gameplay standpoint because development was spread so thin. Leon should not control like Jake. Ada should not control like Chris. It feels less like multiple intertwined stories & more like the same people in 4 different scenarios.
    Revelations 2 pulled off different characters in an interwined story so much better. Barry felt nothing like Claire. They didn't have the same scenarios. They had their own style.

    I love every single Resident Evil game from the mainline to the spin offs. There's clearly a split between the old school fans (which I fall into) and he new school fans (which I also fall into). I'd say the split happened from Resident Evil 0-3 and 4 was the breaking point to go on to 5 + 6 before it seems CAPCOM started listening to feedback more with Resident Evil 7, VILLage, and other titles. As of 2022 it seems CAPCOM is at their peak firing on all cylinders with no only Resident Evil but many other franchises like Monster Hunter with Rise and World; Rise first launching on Switch being one of the most impressive Switch exclusive titles (at the time) now announced for other consoles along with the Sunbreak DLC later. Anyways I think CAPCOM has diversified their portfolio enough and had a high enough output of games, sometimes outsourcing smaller games while focusing on big titles in-house, to be able to satisfy a wide swathe of gamers which is what I think they were aiming for with 6. I think that most of the criticism for 6 comes from it not only being this total action game flying in the face of the series roots and what hardcore fans wanted (see critic reviews vs angry fan reviews). For people who grew up with 4 as their first game I think 6 wasn't as bad as those who started with the OG game. That isn't to say that 6 has some glaring flaws but overall if it is taken on it's own and removed from the canon of the Resident Evil history and main series I think it's a GREAT game. Definitely not perfect but a game worth playing. I think the sentiment of RE6 has slowly begun to swing more towards the positive side since it's release as people aren't as embedded in the hate of it when it first launched and are maybe more willing to give it a shot. Still many veterans and other gamers don't like it or have mixed feelings but I think in years it will begin to get a cult classic status. It's still too new but I imagine by RE9 it will have a more positive view while still being viewed as the worst in the series (hopefully).

    I've found that RE6 is by far the easiest to introduce to casual friends, for co-op especially.

    you wanna know the #2 biggest reason no one liked this game? because Capcom somehow found a way to make Leon Kennedy not even slightly attractive in RE6. I wouldn't have thought it possible for Leon's character design to be ugly as sin, but Capcom always has a way of proving me wrong.

  • @number3665

    This game is great for people that care about lore and story heavy games. If you only care about horror then you hated this game and loved 7. But if you were one of the people that wondered what other characters were doing during events of other games this was cool. It showed what multiple characters were doing during a period of about a year or so and it was all in one game instead of two or three. It was great to see multiple characters instead of one because we hadn't seen some characters in quite a while. And overall it is fun as hell to play with a friend. No it wasn't horror and the gameplay wasn't typical of a RE game but I enjoyed seeing characters like Sherry who we assumed Capcom forgot about. And I think the one thing that would've made this more fun is if every storyline played completely different. Have Leon's be completely horror, Chris' be action since he's mostly fighting with a military, have Sherry's be more puzzle heavy, and have Ada's be as it is. That's what it needed imo because the different campaigns were too similar in tone and play style. I also feel this game should've traded Pierce for Jill since we hadn't seen her in so long. And since the last time we see her she was saved after being brainwashed for two years and then we fast-forward to today and her story has been left alone since then. How can they leave a main character's story just up in the air after something so big like that?

    What irritates me about fans shitting on re6 is how come they act like they didn’t see a game like this coming? They had no problem praising re4 and giving goods reviews to re5 all but calling it derivative of re4 and both of those games were action horror, just comes to show that if the formula worked before, why not try it again and again?

    • @youtube-kit9450

      ... Because you can overdo it? Its reception was so bad capcom itself pulled the breaks hard, so even they understood they fucked up. The weird people at this point are the "fans" who wanted to play some other generic action TPS just because it had RE characters in it.
      Notice how now, all those things like Re:Sistance and Re:Verse and Umbrella Corps completely flounder because for some reason capcom still thinks resident evil fans want stupid TPS or battle royales or whatever instead of good games. And notice how Village and RE4R can balance the action and horror well, like how 4 used to do and even 5 kinda did.

    I love this game. The gameplay system is solid. Just took a bit getting used to it…having come from resi 5’s gameplay. I loved the story too. Yes, it’s super cheese but it’s resi. It’s always been cheese. The few genuine horror moments is just icing on the cake. The fans are always gonna bitch. I’ve played all the mainline series and resi 6 is underrated. Best part of 6 was Ada. She’s my all time favourite resi character. I want a whole ada game. Was bummed out when the concept art for resi 8 village showee ada was originally gonna have some part in it but was scrapped. I hope they do a separate ways dlc for resi 4 remake. Plus i’m a sucker for different points of view of the same story and resi 6 delivers in that. Most all mainline games have that different side of the story depending on what character you choose and Resi 6 went guns out on it. Chef’s kiss 😮‍💨.

Yeah it wasn't really horror focused but it makes sense since Leon,Chris and Ada have been through crap like this multiple times, even sherry and jake had the training to take on what was coming but they weren't doing so great as the others. Even though it wasn't scary, and didn't really make you feel a sense of dread, it had horror elements. I really don't get why this game is hated on as much as it is. I personally Love it

      maybe you'd understand if you didn't say strawmanning nonsense like "too fun".
      It's the only RE that playing through it once burns me out because it's straight up not fun for me to play. The Michael Bay-esque action nonsense completely kills the pacing because you never rest, which is important. You fight way too many bosses multiple times for zero reason, and having to fight the same fight just with another character is tedious. Also, it's resident evil, not calladooty, why the hell am I fighting a tank and a chopper and whatnot instead of... B.O.W.s?
      RE6 thought more was better and completely overdid it.
