  • La Spagnola from book 5 of the Palmer-Hughes Accordion Course.
This one was a fun song to play, since a part of it is used as a birthday cheer here in Poland. I also found it quite easy to get 'into' the piece. Although that didn't stop me from making errors.. :(
    Anyways, enjoy!

From beginning to start, it takes me on average about 10 hours of active practice. Of course, this varies greatly depending on the song. Sometimes 5 hours was enough, sometimes 15 was insufficient. By the way, thank you for your comments. Although right now I'm too busy with other activities, it is comments like yours that motivate me greatly to get back on track and continue my accordion training :)

Nicely done. I found your post from 2010. What a great reference to augment the Palmer-Hughs series. I have not played for over 50 years (yikes) but played much of the P-H portfolio when I was a boy. I am just in the process of having my old accordion refurbished and hope to once again play the P-H series with some mastery. Your recordings will be a great help. Many thanks. Hope you got the Hohner, and you are still playing.

@Delmontedel thanks :) though the techniques weren't superbly difficult.. however, taking to heart your advice, I started paying more attention to the bellows, and well.. it requires some getting used to, due to which I found it hard to concentrate on both the melody and the dynamics and phrasing.. but I'm hoping it'll become habitual fairly quickly :D

@jinbihui Hahaha that's because it is!! xD I bought this accordion when I was 9 years old and never really had the chance to replace it. One of the reasons being I played EXTREMELY seldomly during the past 10 years. It isn't until recently that I really grabbed a hold of playing for good (or at least I hope so). I'm currently saving up for a Hohner Atlantic IV :D as for this one, it's a Titano Titan LM 120.

Can I ask you a personal question? How many hours of practice does it take you to get a song to this polished level?
