That frozen "seasoning blend" of chopped onions peppers (and celery?) is going to be a lifesaver! I have disabilities that keep me from going to the store in person so these videos really help me find new and good products to look for online.
I use that seasoning blend all the time. I usually add extra celery or celery seed because I just love celery the best in soups & stews, but it's fine without them.

Sweet Julia, I've never made a comment, but always watch your videos and even purchased one of your books! Even though I've been cooking since a child (and you could even be a child of mine), I wanted to give you some much deserved compliments. Firstly, your editing of your shows are just fabulous. They go quickly as I love how things just quickly go to "chopped " or whatever the process, it keeps it fun and interesting. I no longer have the need to feed a family, but all can be reheated. Not enough people stop to think or remember what it's like to run a home, raise children AND put a nice, healthy and enjoyable dinner together. Kudos to all you mothers of the young who seem to be returning to focusing on your families. I truly hope it IS a change, for none of you will EVER regret it later. Family dinners are priceless, no matter what you're serving, but thank you for encouraging your generation.

Funny story. I had to go to the hospital a few days and my husband Pete was like where is her cookbooks. Got on line found you and made a couple meals. They turned out great he said. He was like she needs to make cookbooks for us guys when we have to be bachelor's for a time. And now you have books people buy them she's a gold mine of knowledge. Thank you so much Julia. Julia, I have a challenge for you. I live in Florida and we prep for Hurricane season, which is from June 1-November 30 each year. We prep the best we can with lots of pantry staples, but would you consider doing a meal prep or power outage/pantry meals prep for Hurricane Season or tornado power outages. Things you can make on your grill or your camping stove. Thank you for your consideration. Yoncee

I just discovered you. And what a wonderful way to feed your family. However I am an elderly lady living by myself and this would last me forever. For only $20. As I could freeze it or have company I guess. Thank you for all your wonderful ideas I'm going to look at some others you have produced also . The wonderful part of your video is how you provide a recipes and meal plans thank you so much
Wish Julia and RUclips were around 25 years ago when I was living by myself in my first apartment. I could have eaten better for less. I spent $25-35 a week back then just for me and I survived on pasta, jared spaghetti sauce, bagged salads, frozen burritos, frozen individual pizzas with a crap ton of sodium, Spanish rice kits, and Smart Ones individual frozen meals. I also ate out a lot with friends and co-workers.

Notice the Great Value lines at Walmart. many are even under a dollar.
I don't think I've bought a name brand item in 20 yrs with a few minor exceptions. For the most part, they're exactly the same and 50-70% less. I just couldn't bring myself to waste money on name brands anymore

Only a few things that I am brand loyal to, but about 85 to 90% is always store brand.
But,people don’t realize the same manufacturers that make these brand name products make the generic products, the manufacturers that make them of course varies depending on what the products or items are. That’s like yrs ago in Kentucky, I had family members that went over there who worked over at a pizza manufacturing plant, the thing was they were making the same pizza products and,then, just putting different brand name packaging. And, unfortunately that were factories that were put up too quickly and, within under 3 yrs they shut them down!
@@sonyafox3271 Sometimes the items are the same and sometimes they aren't. You have to try them to find out. Some generic laundry detergents and shampoos were just watered down so you had to use a lot more. Some items are exactly the same, particularly canned fruit and vegetables.
Oh boy! I'm thinking that the Potato Enchilada Skillet would taste soooo good as a taco or burrito inside of a tortilla with some cheese and sour cream if you have them available!😋🌮🌯😋🌮🌯

We do fried rice in my at least once a week. With my kids getting out of school for the summer. It’s a go to meal for my family.

Sometimes, I think we confuse the terms " meals, servings, portions".
* Meals to me
Ingredients which when put together are intended to be eaten at a certain time of day.
Example : I cook Pork Chops, Mashed Potatos, Green Beans, Applesauce and make a Salad. It is intended for dinner so I consider it a meal.
* Serving to me
When my mother in law places a scoop of Mashed Potatos on my plate - that is a serving. It is what is designated to feed a person.
* Portion to me
This is when I place a definite amount of food say, 1/4 cup of those Mashed Potatos and 1/2 cup on my son's plate. I " portion" the food by the # of people eating what I prepared.

To point out, this video is not 48 meals, it's 6 meals with 48 servings.
