There is some brilliant sequencing solutions on this little device. The master transpose track is simply brilliant for instance. This is going to be a joy to use!

I started using drum machines, well me and my small group of friends, back when we were teenagers in the mid 80’s. We had several bands back then, most of us play multiple instruments and do artistic stuff. You’re like a carbon copy and you’d fit in with us like an old friend .

I don’t understand the negativity of some people here. The price seems very reasonable in my opinion, you get synths, sequencer, sampler, 3D video engine creation. Instead of bashing something you haven’t even tried yourself go try one out first. Great video!
Hats off to TE for the realization of this and tusen takk for diving into this and providing the tutorial. Love any effort like this that is creative and thinks outside of the box regarding the design and interface. For the persistent and creative, some seriously cool music will be made with this thing.
I love the features of the OP-Z. Great tutorial. I am frustrated with TE though. If they could only add quantize to the OP-1, that would make me love my OP-1 so much more. If the OP-1 will continue to be their flagship product, I really hope they will add quantize to it in future FW.

Thanks for another incredible video Cuckoo! I was excited for the OP-Z and pre-ordered without even realizing some of the additional capabilities that come out. It makes a lot of sense that there are power-moves when operating it. One of the things that make the PO so amazing. Giving the basic buttons, but then making them also advanced. Keep up the great work man! Always love seeing the content :)
I'm starting to realize that I underrate OP-Z. It is really a powerhouse! How durable the unit is? How reliable buttons are after years of use? Tiny buttons of such a compact devices are prone to fail as tiny microswitches have tiny components in them.

I just received mine today, and your work is essential for me. Your presentation, content, phase and passion is superb! I have a request and/or suggestion. Would you consider making a tutorial with the main focus on what/how/when to use the “shift” key?
I'd be curious to know what you think of the instrument now that a few years have past, and how well your OP-Z has held up. (I've heard some troubling reports that the instrument doesn't hold up well to regular use over a couple years.)
great demo and presentation cuckoo :-) neat instrument for the backpack. The name Teenage engineering explains the size of their products. You'll need perfect eye sight to read labels on buttons & the manual. But the same goes for Roland Boutique products. Also, it's apparent that this is a product from the smart phone era. my clumsy fingers often press two letters on a smart phone, while texting. But my eye sight in close range is still good at the age of 56, thankfully. If I was to buy a product from them in the future, it would probably be the OP-1.
What a great review. Supposed to get mine tomorrow (not holding my breath) and this tutorial will be first thing I turn to. I've already watched it once but will be back many times more. I'm one of the free that didn't really like the OP-1 so I sold it, but this littler guy has me really excited.

Thank you for all your kind words, friend! Regarding audio recording; The OP-Z has a microphone, but it doesn’t yet have a method of recording from the microphone. You can currently use the mic for live audio input and put it through the FX. The OP-1 has a dedicated audio recording memory for the 4-track tape recorder. The OP-Z doesn’t have this, but instead relies on the real-time sequencer. This might perhaps be one of the key differences between the OP-1 and the OP-Z.

Great tutorial. You are the BEST! I just got my OPZZZZZ and am still getting comfy! My only complaint so far.... I wish they would make the arpeggiator more like other instruments where you can arpeggiate any sound you're playing. I love arpeggiating drums!

I love the features of the OP-Z. Great tutorial. I am frustrated with TE though. If they could only add quantize to the OP-1, that would make me love my OP-1 so much more. If the OP-1 will continue to be their flagship product, I really hope they will add quantize to it in future FW.

Thanks for another incredible video Cuckoo! I was excited for the OP-Z and pre-ordered without even realizing some of the additional capabilities that come out. It makes a lot of sense that there are power-moves when operating it. One of the things that make the PO so amazing. Giving the basic buttons, but then making them also advanced.

I'm starting to realize that I underrate OP-Z. It is really a powerhouse! How durable the unit is? How reliable buttons are after years of use? Tiny buttons of such a compact devices are prone to fail as tiny microswitches have tiny components in them.
No wonder Teenage engineering trusted you to demonstrate this tiny beast !

I'd be curious to know what you think of the instrument now that a few years have past, and how well your OP-Z has held up. (I've heard some troubling reports that the instrument doesn't hold up well to regular use over a couple years.)
great demo and presentation cuckoo :-) neat instrument for the backpack. The name Teenage engineering explains the size of their products. You'll need perfect eye sight to read labels on buttons & the manual. But the same goes for Roland Boutique products. Also, it's apparent that this is a product from the smart phone era. my clumsy fingers often press two letters on a smart phone, while texting. But my eye sight in close range is still good at the age of 56, thankfully. If I was to buy a product from them in the future, it would probably be the OP-1.
Watched the whole hour and a half and it was great as usual. I look forward to more of your videos while staying up nightly waiting for my op-z.
What a great review. Supposed to get mine tomorrow (not holding my breath) and this tutorial will be first thing I turn to. I've already watched it once but will be back many times more. I'm one of the free that didn't really like the OP-1 so I sold it, but this littler guy has me really excited.

Cuckoo you are realy amazing and utterly crazy creative. OPZ indeed has blown my mind since it started...like how it this thing device going to be used. Already was amazed by the power of the OP-1 (although I am not having one yet ;-( ) But you have nailed the explanation of the OPZ clearly and man is this a powerful device..with indeed an user structure that is new..and complete out of the box and comfort zone. I wanne thank you for putting this long and upmost valuable tutorial that showed me the value of the OPZ...yet you have not talked about if it can also record live audio like the OP1 does so tremendously well. (althoug...indeed not having one but seeing on the many tutorials around)

Thank you for all your kind words, friend! Regarding audio recording; The OP-Z has a microphone, but it doesn’t yet have a method of recording from the microphone. You can currently use the mic for live audio input and put it through the FX. The OP-1 has a dedicated audio recording memory for the 4-track tape recorder. The OP-Z doesn’t have this, but instead relies on the real-time sequencer. This might perhaps be one of the key differences between the OP-1 and the OP-Z.

Great tutorial. You are the BEST! I just got my OPZZZZZ and am still getting comfy! My only complaint so far.... I wish they would make the arpeggiator more like other instruments where you can arpeggiate any sound you're playing. I love arpeggiating drums!
