So what is the best filter paper you never say? The filter basket is the that determines how fast the filter works. Funnels don't work well at all as there is a small hole for the liquid to pass through. A laundry basket like you are using would work good if you are refining large amounts but your average hobbyist doesn't do anything on that scale. For a small scale refiner a basket from a coffee maker works really good as it is ribbed on the inside giving a larger filter surface and the filters fit better. For better filtering just double or triple the papers .all in all you can't beat a buchner setup
