      They quite literally ask for feedback with their beta releases... It's one of the ways they can ensure to steer updates in ways the community wants and learn about bugs that fell through their own QA processes. So, no... let's not just wait for the final version. Now is the time we can see current issues addressed. I've already forwarded this. It's how I've gotten bugs that irked me ironed out previously as well. This is how we keep on improving the game.

      I'm on Xbox with the live update who does not have access to a keyboard and the make home ship bug is infuriating, compounded by the fact that they were made aware before it was released.

    The way i steal ships in space is a litle diferent and may help with the bug, i havent played the beta:
    Steal ship, undock, target your home ship (so you can just press R to redock fast), make the new ship the home ship, redock and make your old ship home ship again.

      Thanks, but it seems changing the home ship causes the other ship to immediately disappear. 😢

    10 is definitely far too few!
    Sepentis is favourite my go-to system for ship farming from space in the vanilla game.
    Those big Va'ruuns ships make it quick & easy to bank up some nice credits with the sell glitch, but now that I have 6 of my own saved ships, I can only catch 4 per run..

    Definitely broken in 1.11.33 - now the only way (on PC) to capture a ship in the Beta and return to your first ship is to capture, power down the grav drive, start a jump (which sets the current ship as Home), abort it, redock with your first ship, and return. Pointlessly difficult, and the way Sit to Add Ship does it (add ship to fleet without making it Home) is a far better approach.
    StAS also fixes most of the problem Richard describes, including the issue of your 1st ship vanishing during land ship captures. However, StAS is only a mod, and the base game itself needs to be fixed.

    Stealing ships on the ground or in space is a waste for me if i try to modify them for personal use, they become invisible. I can still fast travel to the cockpit but usually the graphics are screwed up inside the ship. So only option is to sell them, doesn't happen to ships i buy from vendors. Also got a random colour change happens now and again with each ship i own.

    I would love for the ship limit to be increased, but I wonder whether having more than 10, all individually decorated with contents stored throughout might be too much for the engine. Some consideration has to be given to engine limitations, as Starfield, like all Bethesda games, keeps track of a large quantity of junk.

      *INDIVIDUAL* ship inventory is an absolutely necessity!
      It's so frikken frustrating doing mods one *1* ship, but then junk gets dumped in every other ship.
      Also sharing 'all' of ship inventory across all ships too, including the small ship with very small cargo, just doesn't work! 👎🏼

      A good solution would be to add extra ships into the Starship Design skill. 1,2,3 level gives 1,2,3 extra slots. Level 4 gives 5 slots. So a max of 15 ships.
      Definitely need to understand the engine to make sure lower end systems can still function with the extra ship inventory.

      @@chrisweed8171 Really not 'that' much more extra memory, skins on prefab blocks in different colours, and a few other differences in systems & loadiouts.
      But it's not like all 10 ships are being generated simultaneously, there is far more going on during space battles with multiple ships.
      It's 2024, not 1994..lol

    I am on XBox. The bug is not a factor for me. In the beginning of NG+ I typically steal ships for credits so I will normally take it to a ship yard , Neon or Hopetown to sell and will make the swap there to whatever home ship I am selling. Or will just land at whatever planet I am near or landing site and do a few POI's for weapons to sell. If I have the credits and steal a ship I will take it to the Red Mile to do the upgrades, weapons, shield, engines and reactor if needed. Really not a big deal if I cannot swap in space. Much more excited for the increased vendor credits and harder difficulty. But based on Bethesda history something will be broken, hopefully it is minor.l

    There is a mod that adds ships to your lineup with:
    1. Sit in the pilot's chair
    2. Popup asks if you want to add to your lineup.
    3. Answer yes
    4. Get up, no need to make it your homeship.

    TY. I been saying this since the beta update on pc. even on steam-starfield-discussion. and many people told me I'm stupid, and that's how it always its. I tried to convince people this is not how it was. It's so annoying. Especially when I know i am right. I loved taking my ship back in space, as long as it it didn't fly off to fast on me. Then the losing my controller is frustrating. I did learn I could use the esc key on my keyboard to esc out and get my controller back. but main ship has still left the screen. and then im sitting there waiting for the new ship to repair its engines before i can even do anything.

    This feels like one those bizarre things developers like to do when they realise players like doing a specific thing and feel the urge to stop them doing it for some reason that makes zero sense in the context of playing in single player (Hello Empyrion Galactic Survival!)

    I never even knew you could redock with your ship lol, I always just took the damaged captured ship straight to Red Mile or Neon etc and then registered it there due to the ship registered / disappear bug which when you would register it in space and then it would disappear, from your inventory so I have always gone to a ship technician and registered it just to be safe as I indeed lost a ship due to this bug at launch.
    I did see previously though in the last patch 1.0.32 a ton of new bugs appear and some old ones, I'm now on PC and I have found a new / old bug which I found on Reddit, it's to do with Manipulation, I used it against Demarcus, and the Ryujin guards started to attack me, I then exited the game, reloaded and it was then OK, until I got to the end of the story, then it happened again when I was talking to Ularu and the only way out of it was to shut the door and then they stopped but took like 3 times to work. I have never seen this on Series S in the 8 months since release but this is a new 3rd character on PC I started last week.
    Just like Legacy's End and the Longsword now not spawning in at Battery Beta, that's a bug that hasn't effected me until 1.0.32, but is actually been around since launch and seems to effect Xbox only and is actually on both Sysdef and CF, so certain bugs effect certain platforms and as I have said previously I don't think they test these patches out on each system at all, it's Steam Beta for 2 weeks and then roll out across the board which then results in bugs which so far I have lost 2 characters to, or ones that are fixed then broken again, like the eyes closed I have now seen appear once again so something needs to happen on their QA side as it's becoming a very frustrating time for a lot of players who lost characters or save files that get corrupted as a consequence.

    While it may not be the same as what you describe, it has always been a thing that if you miss "catching" your original ship, it will travel away and jump, leaving you only with the new ship. This is why I keep an outpost with a landing pad/ship builder in the Serpentis system so I can go there and switch ships if that happens, which it does occasionally. No harm, no foul.

      Previously if you did undock, redock, make home ship, the old ship would not fly away.

    Issues i've had since the March update are that when i steal a ship, or takeover an abandoned ship, in space sitting in the pilots seat stops game from working & exiting the seat takes a minute or two, reentering the pilot seat & everything works normally EXCEPT none of the ships weapons work
    Also not a single ship, apart from outpost cargo ships & ships at spaceports have landed anywhere, not even at places where i used to get 2, 3, 4 or more ships landing in quick succession
    Since i started playing Starfield on 1st September i've had to go back in excess of 150 levels, 2 at 60+ levels both times back to level 8, the first time was in 6 days from start, the second 3 weeks later, plus going back 20+ plus levels after the game continually crashed every time any of my ships took off from a populated area such as New Atlantis, Neon, Hopetown etc making Starfield completely unplayable
    I currently have some minor bugs such as the right side thrusters on the Nova Galactic NG20 4 single leg 4 thruster landing gear not working & being dumped under the loading bay on landing where auto ship exit occurs & being weel & truly stuck under there, it can take several attempts of fast travelling to cockpit & exiting before i'm on the ramp. I really detest that auto ship exit mechanic,, needs an option in settings to disable it together with an option to disable 3rd person take offs & landings, Starfield already has the graphics for 1st person take offs & landings yet they're not used, same for the little used 1st person grav jumps. That grav jump white screen really hurts my eyes too, it needs toning down a lot or a color change

      Another irritating bug is that every time i return to pilot's seat or take off into space my power settings change from the way i set them, which is aggravating when i arrive in orbit to be greeted by an ambush of level 72 ships as shield strength is down by 20% engine power by 30%, my 6 vanguard guns have 12 power instead of 4 all they need, little difference in recharge time), other guns/turrets have 7 power instead of 12
      Meaning i'm taking damage whilst sorting it out

    I didnt even know that ship stealing thing was an issue…lol every time I’ve stolen a ship, I’ve always took it back to a space port without redocking to my other ship. Honestly the new mechanic won’t bother me much. As for the controller bug, I’m pretty sure that is mainly a pc issue hopefully and not a console issue to cause I play on series x.

    I don't have a problem with the new system. When stealing a ship on the ground I always get up from the pilot seat after setting it to my home ship and fast travel to New Atlantis to select my custom ship and sell the stolen ship if the vendor has enough credits. I keep a permanent base on Bohr II with a ship builder pad for customising ships but I've found that the shipbuilder pad will sometimes lock your controls out when switching ships forcing you to reload a previous game. I play keyboard and mouse only
    It's a bit of a nuisance not being able to fast travel back to your original ship when you've stolen a ship on the ground but I can live with that.
    Due to a recent NG+ I haven't tried capturing ships in space yet so can't comment on that.

      I'll give the ship capture in space a try shortly. Looks like I have enough credits to complete my weapon loadout. Barret's going to be shocked, the only thing left of the Frontier is its original hab.

      @@RichardBejtlich Capped a ship, sat down to claim it and my own ship disappeared immediately. It's just like you said. I don't use any mods or console commands.
      Getting up and fast travelling still works fine at least.

    All the more reason to pay particular attention what ship you are about to steal when you're in the highest-level systems that require 27 LY jump distance to move beyond. You can strand yourself if you pick up a really cool ship that only goes 17 LY. 😕

    I’ve had issues where I steal a ship and as I undock my ship is thrown in reverse at roughly 3400 mph and continues to reverse until I fast travel. Other times no issues.

    I've also run into a problem where I board and clear a ship then sit to start the Make Home Ship procedure only to have my character slide forward but the chair doesn't move. When it switches back to the first person view I get a weird view of the back of my characters eyeballs and no keyboard or mouse control other than to exit to the main menu. I can't save but I can load a saved game from there or quit the game. Otherwise no controls work. This has happened multiple times in both space and on the ground. Hopefully they'll have this fixed for the final update. Anyone else run into this issue?

    I just hope that my mods will continue to work after the update. I have a mod that allows me to take over ships without making them my home ship. But most of the update is absolutely irrelevant anyway. I don't need the maps and the new settings are absolute garbage. The only good new feature is the ability for a NG+ to change its traits.

      I tried to bu for some reason the Discord method they are using just won't recognise my Phone number for validation. I hope someone else can be bothered to report it as I've had plenty of weird beta-related stuff going on as well. I had one where I heard a ship landing sound but couldn't see one anywhere until I looked up and spotted a V.Hymn just hanging there. It did eventually attack me when I left the planet, though.

    Actually, IMHO, the stealing ship mechanic has never made sense. I keep hoping that in the eventual space/ship DLC that overhauls it they will think to include logic for a prize crew. That would also fit in with the concept of a sticky assignment of crew.

      @@RichardBejtlich Part of what has me thinking in those terms is that I've been re-reading the Honor Harrington series. But yeah, it needs the work. On the plus side, the pieces are there and the way they are going about updates, it's a logical direction for an agile lifecycle.

    The redocking is a good feature but the fact that the controller is disabled as soon as you make a ship you home ship after taking g it over is a blatant bug and basically kills this approach to ship acquisition. Not impressed.

    U pay 55k to register a claymore 3 u sell it for like 68k maybe a bit more most ship technicians only have 72 k if u sell it to your outpost ship builder u can only sell it if you've done enough upgrades to have enough to get full amount. Here's the bs part if I wanna buy it back from the ship builder landing pad I gotta pay 355k or more wtf if the value of the ship is 400k let's say wtf am I only getting 68k for selling it and have to pay 400k to buy it back. I stopped playing starfield the moment they nerfed the ship landings. And I had issues where I would find a ship on the ground get to the cockpit sit in it and out of my nine ships one would go invisible and not b there or not load up wtf man. I heard so many bad reviews I bought the game anyway and enjoyed it and it was fine until they nerfed the ship landing now it sucks. I'm done playing. I bought my Xbox Xseries for this game. I might as well spike my Xbox on the ground like a football it useless now. Thxs Bethesda yer the best. Not

      As of this beta the ship landings are back in quantity again. Plenty of ships to steal on the ground and the new planetary maps makes it easier to spot them.

      This is AWESOME. It's going to take me a while to figure out everything but I really appreciate it. How did you figure out all the SetGS values? I've only started looking into .ini files so I'm guessing you used one of those mods to dump those values?

      @@RichardBejtlich heidland on nexus mods has a really good file covering everything with bat files.
