  • Now that I have the shop frame built and insulated its time to get the sub floor installed. I am using 3/4" treated plywood with construction adhesive and 2.5" screws. I find that the treated plywood is very strong and weather resistant. Be careful moving this around because 3/4" treated plywood is very heavy.

When installing plywood subfloor you want to leave at least an 1/8" gap around all seams to prevent buckling from naturally occurring expansion over time. The easiest way to get your spacing is to use a 16d nail.

That is a beast of a job to do by yourself. Impressive.

When installing your plywood use the Formica type approach. Put down some long sticks to support the plywood. Move it into position then lift it enough to pull out the sticks and drop the plywood in place.
When you dropped the plywood I could only imagine the styrofoam underneath being blow out.
It’s a great build you give me desire to start my own. Thanks.

That's a good idea! Still easier with two people. Nice to hear the video is an inspiration for you to build a shop.

Just wandering, what is the importance of using treated ply and treated 2x6’s if the 2x6 is covered by the Damp proof membrane?
I’m building my own 10x12 work shop and just looking for inspiration

The foundation can still get a bit of moisture from rain runoff and the ground. But besides that treated lumber is less likely to be effected by bugs.

Use a router to knock off the edges. You want have to measure.

Good point! The saw did alright. But I can't remember if I filmed that part.
