I love to see The Bee Gees at any stage in their lives. Barry was 14 years, Robin and Maurice 11 and their harmonies were already great. Barry wrote this song and at 17 years of age won the Australian songwriter of the year award. You have to keep in mind that they were so young and yet they were writing and singing beautifully their own songs.I’m so glad you’re feeling better.
What's not to like watching and listening to the very young Bee Gees? They were amazing THAT young, doing perfect harmonies already!! Barry wrote that song. He's about 14-15 here. The Twins are about 12. FYI-- They were providing for their family that young-- parents and an older sister and baby Andy. They LOVED doing all that at a young age, with their dad their chaperone/manager and their mom their launderer/seamstress, making their clothes and maintaining them. I love their close-knit relationship and support for one another. Aren't they awesome?! I can't bear to hear any criticism of them. They're like extensions of my own family. I relate!
Someone said that shortly after they started working professionally at ages 12 and 9, and became the only income for the family, it was like the parent/child roles reversed. If you listen to their mother’s interviews, she will say things like Barry didn’t want her to send out the laundry, and Barry said his father would always tell him to make Robin do this or that. In an interview with both parents in the 1980’s, their mother said everyone called Barry with their problems and he would take care of it... he always knew what to do. Barry’s lyrics sometimes reflect it, especially Marley Purt and DOGS sound like he’s carrying the weight for the whole family and band members and their families too. They are a fascinating family.
@@dp3396 That's why Barry is one of my heroes. He is the consummate family man. Of course, I'm just a fan, but actions and testimony from family and friends support my impression that Barry is a great individual with character and integrity.
Hope you are feeling all better still.❤ A little BeeGees is good for mind and body! And to think they wrote this song!! They are so cute! Live television in 1960- Barry was born in 1946 & Robin & Maurice in 1949. Their parents were professional musicians - Dad a drummer & Mom was a singer until she married and became a Mom. Dad became their manager because they had decided on their own they wanted to be a famous singing group!❤ They have said while other kids were playing soccer for fun, they hung out together and imitated the records they heard on the radio & the records their Dad listened to.❤
Barry announced at age 8 that he was going to be a pop star and the 5 year old twins asked if they could be pop stars, too. That’s when they discovered the natural harmonies. They sung on street corners, in the school yard, and anywhere they could find an “audience.” The family moved about 1x per year staying ahead of creditors. They immigrated to Australia to keep the boys out of reform school, and because it was supposed to be easier for their father to find work. Andy was a newborn at this time. Their mother said the ship to Aus. required minors to be in the cabins after 9pm, but they would come out of the casino at 1am and find the boys out on the deck entertaining guests in their PJs. (From the way she said it, I don’t think they got in trouble:) They landed in Australia on Barry’s 12th birthday. They were heard singing shortly after, and had management from ages 12 and 9 years old, and were 13 and 10 at the time of this video. Barry turned 14 shortly after it was filmed, and the twins turned 11 about 4 months after it was filmed. Barry and Andy both dropped out of school at 14, and the twins at 13, to work full time. Their mom said Andy was fronting bands in clubs from age 13, even when too young to be paid. Both parents were musical, and all four boys are said to have perfect pitch. They were also all 4 natural born entertainers. Their sister also sang, but didn’t particularly like entertaining.
I just found your page and because you are reacting to the loves of my life Barry Robin Mo and Andy, the brothers Gibb, I have subscribed hit the bell to follow you as well as shared your page with others. I truly feel that the Bee Gees are still relavent even to day. Thak you for loving them as well.
Hope you are feeling better. Baby Bee Gees! ❤️ I love them. My favorite group since I heard them on the radio in 1967. I was 7.🤣Barry oldest, only one left. Maurice is pronounced Morris. It was an Australian show, before they went back to England.
But they didn't train or learn anything about singing or playing instruments. They just made music their whole life thru', so that's what they were born for.
Also... please react to Alone, One, Spirits Have Flown, Wind of Change, Baby as You Turn Away, and Tragedy! These were big hits and you as a fan do not want to miss some of their best songs. Tragedy is very upbeat & not sad. ❤
Elvis started at the age of 19/20, the Bee Gees were here 11 and 14 when barry was 19 and the twins 16 , they had 5 years as musicians and a lot of songs behind them!😂
Love this. They always knew what they wanted to do. Like miniatures totally recognisable.
👍

Not bad for budding songwriter genius Barry. Fit the time period. Amazing how they adapted as the time went passing by. 🤣
