    Let's face it, whether you want to travel, buy consumer goods, provide for your family and it's future generations or simply eat, get by, and survive, money will come in handy. Having extra cash can give you comfort but don't get too comfortable. With the right mindset you will have cash coming in and less of it going out. Here are some of the tips that I've come up with or learned over the years and used to save money as well as cover a variety of costs.Remember to plan at the begining of each month and asses your progress as you go along and make some tweaks where necessary. It's a long journey so consider having an emergency fund and making some investments.

    You save money by doing basic things yourself and put cash away. I make my own laundry soap,softener, pads, cleaners myself it saves a ton. Look on ehow for ideas. Stop eating out, buy in bulk store foods if you can. Great video thanks for additonal tips :)

    Awesome video, I used to spend LITERALLY all of my money on my car and making myself appear wealthier and cooler, but now i've really sinched my belt and I am one of the cheapest people around!!! And that makes me feel way better and more secure than having some car that is consistently decreasing in value!!!! SAVE, PEOPLE! SAVE!

    Good point about throwing money away on interest. It really does buy you nothing. I remember the concept of Guns vs. Butter. Invest in things that make money for you (real estate, land, bonds, etc.). Don't waste your money on Butter items that depreciate and essentially melt away. You are very smart, and based on that, you should be successful. Personally, as an accountant, I am a big fan of budgets. Everyone should at least write a budget so that they understand what their expenses are. It takes a little practice and diligence, but eventually it can even become fun. Live below your means (and your friends' means). Ultimately, you will be the winner in this process even if it seems harsh in the beginning. You will save yourself so much stress and end up enjoying life so much more.

    How to save everything you have or currently earn: spend jack shit. Absolutely minimise the parting of cash. Hoard cash like you think everyone wants to steal it from you (which they do).
    - Do NOT walk into shops (the exception being supermarkets);
    - AVOID owning a motor vehicle (ride a bike or walk instead);
    - AVOID unnecessary insurances; pay for everything UP FRONT;
    - MINIMISE socialising with friends or family - most of the time they will incur unnecessary costs such as alcohol or Cappuccinos;
    - DO NOT waste time and money on 'experiences' (eg. music festivals) which in any case will be wiped out by dementia in old age.
    - DO NOT purchase a house or flat which is too big for your needs;
    - Take a packed lunch to work and avoid afterworks 'drinks'.
    - AVOID television
    - Tell yourself that you DON'T need a holiday. If you can't do this, take a holiday but don't go anywhere: stay at home. Holidays are great for acquiring skin cancer, blisters from excessive walking, returning sand in luggage, and emptying your pockets. Not much else.
    - Ensure all or most of your hobbies are FREE.
    - If your friends are encouraging you to spend, consider acquiring new friends or - for more extreme savers - eliminating them altogether.
    - Buy warm clothing from Charity shops in summer to wear indoors in winter.
    Hope this helps.

      Dont be stupid. 70% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck. Thats not changing ANYTIME SOON. Talking about saving money. and SAVING MONEY are two different things. Its either in you or it will be a life long struggle.
      Some people are just born tight. Look at Warren Buffet. The man can buy a country but still lives like a cheapskate. And in his case it's not necessary. But its who he is.
      You are who you are.

    Good video. One way I save money is by putting cash away (minimum $10-$20 bills) in a bible-book case with a zipper pocket. So far I have $90 saved, it might not be much... But I'm getting somewhere. Pretending I don't have the money, and simply forgetting about it, not entirely, and pretending it is money that isn't mine.... Really helps.
    My goal is to have money saved, so if I lose my job, for any reason, then I can carefully spend until I find another job.
    Hope this helps someone reading the comments as it is helping me.

    Thanks. I think a few of these may apply to you. See if you can sell some old toys and earn a few bucks raking people's yards or walking dogs (i don't know how old you are though). The most important thing is to not het caught in consumerism. You will want one thing after another endlessly so stop yourself from entering that cycle. After some time the urge will be gone. When it returns, resist it and it'll go away again. Only buy things that you can use to make money. Save for college too!

    I really like No.5 I recently did a little experiment... My wife and I have started a budget and we allow ourselves a certain allowance each week for "free spending" I had an item that I've been wanting & I could easily buy it with one week's allowance. But I decided to save $5 at a time for it to delay gratification and not be so impulsive. At that rate it would take approx. 5 weeks to save for it. I realized over that month & one week that I really did want it & it wasn't just an impulse also I came up with a few more uses for it as well. I had every reason to buy it now & when the time came I had the money.... Guess what, I DID NOT get it. I still want it but its empowering deciding to get it (because I saved diligently) or deny myself it (because I want to see how long I can go). It's a funny & difficult feeling to describe entirely, but it is great. Still haven't gotten it but the saving is still going & I can now buy 3 of those items if I so desire.

    Your advice is really true but sometimes it is hard when big emergency come up and that is where square one takes you back. Another good tip is if you are a giver and love to help friends out such as help them buy a house, car, bail out of jail or something. I have in the past but don;t do it anymore just make sure that person you help pays you back in the end for it was the hard earned and you worked for that money and it is hard to keep reworking for that amount. But if the person never pays you back you know that they were just using you for money and defiantly isn't a good friend or spouse. Don't let anyone take advantage from you because they know you have money! If your a billionaire sure help spread love to whoever you want for you have so much what else you going to do with it>?

    • @OnThadStuff
      @OnThadStuff 8 лет назад

      Well I used to give more but not so much anymore and when I do give now it is from my heart and don't expect anything in return. But in the past it was too much giving. But life is always trail and error you live and learn from your mistakes... Thanks for answering FunMan125 I wish you the very best Christmas as well :) I wish you all the best and happy saving :)

      I think if you take saving to an extreme, there will be a terrible breaking point. You gotta spend on something every once in a while in order to keep going. Plus there are some things in life which are just worth the money and you don't necessarily need to be married to realize that.

    I saved $6000 in the last 6 months. Also only use my credit card for bills and pay it off in full every month to build my credit. Never been this money smart until recently. And I do go to the casino sometimes. Rarely, but 2x this year I gambled and won $500 so far after winning back what I lost but I agree it's bad to gamble because it's so easy to lose everything.
    And COSTCO is smart shopping!
    But I have to say man I am a musician/artist. It's damn near impossible to make money on any form of art so I disagree with that one.

      I love cars. That's the one "fun" thing I wouldn't regret spending money on. You can always save more than you need but then still buy the miata. Many things to consider.

    Great video--thanks! I recently read the Millionaire Next Door and some things that stood out were they didn't move very often--on average 25 years or longer in the same house. Also, as you said, choose your friends wisely, and your significant other even more wisely. Someone who is supportive with the same life goals will make a difference. Limit your purchase of name brands and eating out, etc.

    How much do you consider to be " a lot of money" and how fast is "fast"

    • @FunMan125
      @FunMan125  9 лет назад +2

      That's a good question. It will obviously differ from person to person so I put this title to appeal to everybody. For me, a college student who's not exactly the entrepreneurial type, a lot of money fast would be 1.5k in a month.

    How do you work on impulse purchases? I have a hard time with that.

    • @FunMan125
      @FunMan125  8 лет назад

      +Jean-Francois Prince Well, besides going out with ONLY enough money to do what you NEED, and avoiding store windows altogether, I guess just waiting until the impulse disappears (for me it disappears after 2-3 weeks). Maybe see my second video on this subject.

    What site are you reading from? Your eyes are focused on reading something

      +Explor Everything No site. Just a camera, my notes (which I look at at the end of each section), and a window.
