      Very nice work.. when you do punch work you have to get fabric with a tight weave and you have to make sure you have the fabric very tight on the hoop. Your doing real good.

    Hi Minori! I don’t live in Japan, but in America on the back label of the yarn they normally do tell you the yarn size. Something along the guidelines of “this is a yarn size 5” and they would also tell you a corresponding crochet hook or knitting needle size. I think that you can use these and perhaps even compare the hook/needle size to your tufting needle to see what works for you! :D
    Additionally with all of that extra yarn I would recommend you try out crocheting! Personally, it’s a lot simpler than knitting, however you can totally try knitting as well, and I do believe that there is a big crochet community in Japan. There is also a Japanese stuffed animal crocheting technique called “amigurumi” that I think you might like as well. I just think that the idea of crocheting cute clothing for plushies, or even plushies themselves would suit you. Anyways I loved the crafts that you made, and I hope that the advice and suggestions are helpful towards you. :)

    Wow, when you changed yarn it was like night and day. I'm sure all your previous tries helped with it too, but that jump to the minion was striking. I love how they turned out when you were more comfortable. Great work. If you do decide to do more, I would love to see anime characters for sure!

    Damn I wonder how many skills u have learnt so far... Also those cheap and thick yarns can be used for crochet. I started learning it a month ago (mainly just to make tops and tote bags) and going good so far.
    You can make your own stuffed animals or characters, I just find it SO cute

    • @ThatPinkLady

    Instead of scissors you could try using electric clippers next time! They have small ones for puppy paw pads that you could use for detailing work. Plus to clean up the edges between the different color sections, you can use clippers to shave the edges of each section at an angle.

    4:58 We also call those "dust bunnies" from Totoro "soot sprites" since that's what the characters call them in the English dub.
    I've watched so many of your videos. Your art is so cute! 💖

  • @irosquaredboku
    @irosquaredboku 9 месяцев назад +1

    The totoro/spirited away Makkuro kurosuke (also called Susuwatari) are more commonly referred to as "Soot Sprites" in English, since they're all sooty. Dust bunnies are a nickname for large clumps of dust that group together and are thought to propagate more dust like bunnies make babies. IRL, dust bunnies don't have ears, but artistic renderings give them ears.
    Also, I wanna try needle tufting now, darn it. I already have too many hobbies TnT (Sashiko, doll customizing, diamond painting, miniature making, sewing, drawing, etc.)

    Minor the other acrylic yarns and leftover cotton yarns can be used for crocheting! It's super fun and you can make clothes, stuffed animals, and all kinds of useful things. Other than that, you just need a crochet hook (the size depends on the yarn thickness), and some projects require plastic eyes, stuffing, and tapestry needles. I recently started and it's very therapeutic!!

    I wonder if you want, you could sew a black border around the Judy image? I only suggesting that so it makes sense for her ears to be cut off, its still cute the way you did it, just her ears being cut off bothers me a bit, thats why I think a black box border would make it better.

I've been watching needle tufting videos for weeks now and wondering if I should try it myself 🤭 a cheap store (like daiso) usually has the needles in stock, but of course they're out when I want to try 🤭 I'm watching videos on techniques, look for ideas and enjoy the fun pop sound when you poke into the fabric 😊

    I've never had a problem with using cheap yarn seeing as that's the only kinds I use of varying brands. From what I saw in the video at times the fabric was always different and not always right in the hoop. This is a very forgiving medium. I learned the hard way that using only monkskin is really the best way to go

    Hi Minori!! I loved the video, i have some recommendations for your hoop, since it's plastic, any fabric will slide off, what i have done to my hoops even the wood ones is cover them with a strip of cloth in spiral, and then stitch the end, this helps the fabric to stay in one plane and be taut, also in mid project be sure that the fabric it's still taut (tense) in the hoop, this will help with the stitches. This applies in any way of embroidery

    I didn't realised how much a difference the yarn made. But I also knew that not all yarn would work. I didn't spend a lot on the tools per se, but I did spend more on the yarn as I need to make a few with different colours. Acrylic yarn works for me thou? I used 100% acrylic yarn because I like that as my crocheting yarn. But I do have a preferred canvas for the needle-punching even though both canvases worked for me. I felt abit the same as you when I tried it out the first time - frustrating and wondering why am I spending so much time on this. But after i got better at it, it did start to feel much better. I still didn't dare to watch stuff while I work on it. Maybe listen to stuff. I did accidentally injure myself when working on it.
