    Absolutely love this, but would really like to know a bit more about how the channel grouping was done at the beginning.

      You just make a new channel layer(use the icon next to the trash can on the channels palette), and you select the parts of the channel you want with white(use either the lasso tool and fill with white like Nathan, or paint white with the brush tool). White is positive, black is negative, meaning when you select those channels only what is white will be selected.

    Would have loved to see the channel window. Is it safe to assume you were making selections based on those channels?
