    Great review. Liked and subscribed. I've ordered this scope today along with flattener to go with my Skyguider Pro and Sony a7iii

    I have the first Z61 and absolutely love it as a scope. I bought the new rings as it’s a very good upgrade. Nice video, well done. I was bought the new Z61R for Xmas. Really nice and being a 0.8 reducer opens the fov. 288mm from 360mm and nicely drops the f ration from f5.9 to f4.7. Has a built in rotator also

    What mount do you have ? I plan to buy this with a SW Star Adventurer.
    Do you like the images you get with the ZS61II ?

    • @brieflight9572
      @brieflight9572  3 года назад +1

      Yeah, I used a Star Adventurer and an iOptron SkyGuider with this Z61II. Pushing it a bit for weight, but it worked.
      I’ve actually since switched to the GT81 and a CEM40 mount, except when traveling I still take this smaller/simpler setup.
      My astrobin is here and all the equipment used for each image is listed: www.astrobin.com/users/AshleyF71/
      Hope that helps, and have fun!

      I haven’t used it at all for visual (literally have never put the eyepiece on :P), but here’s my astrobin: www.astrobin.com/users/AshleyF71/
      Didn’t end up using the DSLR with this telescope much. Instead, mostly have used the telescope with an ASI1600 camera or have used the Sony camera with a regular lens…

    Thanks for the video.
    I was wondering wich ring do you have to connect the flattener with your dslr ? I also have a sony, and a T2-NEX ring, could this one work ?

    • @brieflight9572
      @brieflight9572  4 года назад

      Not certain about the T2-NEX ring. I’d compare to this one, which I know works for Sony E-mount:

    What backfocus distance setting do you use on the flattener? I have the same scope and flattener and use a fullframe Sony A7S, but I seem to struggle with using the correct distance.

    • @brieflight9572
      @brieflight9572  4 года назад

      I used 13mm adjustment on the flattener and it seems to work great (round stars to the corners).
      I’m no expert, but my reasoning was that the Flat61A on a Z61 has a backfocus distance of 67.7mm (published by WO). The E-mount adapter adds 36.7mm (measured with calipers) and the flange distance on E-mount cameras is 18mm from the rim to the sensor (published by Sony). So, 67.7-36.7-18 leaves 13 remaining to be taken up.

      @@brieflight9572 thank you for the quick reply!! I saw on Cloudynights or SGL (can’t remember correctly) that someone made a huge calculation and came up with 10.7mm, but I still had a few comets in my corners. I will try 13mm now. Thanks a lot and clear skies

    Can this telescope connect to Zwo ASI camera?

    • @brieflight9572
      @brieflight9572  4 года назад

      Absolutely. I’ve actually switched to the ASI1600MM (and ZWO filter wheel) since making this video. Also, BTW, works great with the ZWO EAF.

      @@brieflight9572 I think I'll be buying this telescope at the end of the year, how much did this telescope cost? Did you need some additional accesories to connect zwo asi camera to this telescope? What mount do you use?
      Also what is ZWO EAF ? (sorry for many questions xd)

    • @brieflight9572
      @brieflight9572  4 года назад +1

      Nice! Enjoy.
      It was $590USD direct from William Optics. The ZWO cameras come with a bunch of adapters and spacers (everything you need). I’ve used this scope with the StarAdventurer and the SkyGuider (maybe pushing the weight limit, but very convenient) and with the CEM40 (looks tiny on it). The EAF is an autofocus stepper motor that can replace one of the focus knobs.
      Good luck and have fun!
