Thanks, it's the flattener reducer which means the focal point will be close to the ota. I wish they would say somewhere that the rotator has to be removed. I really liked that rotator too!
Interesting video - thanks for sharing. I own a Redcat 51 myself and I love it. Quick question: What losmandy plate are you using below the red dovetail?
I think it's great that you've kinda stepped back to the shorter FL and wider FOV. The smaller scopes are a lot of fun. Much less demanding on guiding for sure. Sometimes difficult to ensure good balance but really even that doesn't appear all too important. Enjoyed your video as always.
Hey James.....so sorry for the late response, RUclips notifications stink! Yes it's been a great scope, the doublet is better suited for narrowband though. My lrgb experience with left me struggling to balance the colors.
Awesome setup Steve. My first scope was the WO Guide Star 61. Optically identical to the Z61, but sold as a guide scope that you can image with as well. Anyhow, I had similar issues with odd star stuff in the far corners. I found the issue to be with the flattener and not the scope. Try backing off with the locking ring for the micro backfocus adjuster on the flattener. Mine was causing some flex or something when I locked it in tight. Idk if that is the case with yours, but thought I would throw it out there. Clear skies man! Lord knows we need them on the east coast!

I hope you enjoy your Z61. That was my first scope getting into Astrophotography and I love it. At the moment I’m using mine mainly for solar photography using the Quark Chromosphere and it’s perfect for that as well. I forgot to mention, watch out for pinched optics. That scope is notorious for that.

Money😉 The red cat is an awesome scope but I already own the Meade 80mm and reduced their pretty close in focal ratio and speed. Plus I've never been bug on its helical focuser, would have to get a special adapter for my eaf.

Thanks for another great video Steve. I am down and out for a few days, my "new" 9 month old EQ6R-Pro died. Motherboard keeps blinking regardless of power. I ordered one (out of pocket) from a different dealer, it arrived DOA,, powers up, but neither the hand controller or USB port work. Now I am waiting for the guarantee Motherboard which is on a two week back order....heavy sigh.
Oh no!! We just don't know how lucky we are that things work as they should until they dont...lol. I felt that way with the 1600mm, hope this new one lasts. Good luck to you!
I have the z61 and the same reducer/rotator I just looked at my draw tube and it's extended to 13 mm at focus.

thanks for the up load, fyi amazed that latitude bolt on the eq6 r still working for ya,, took mine off and just use a 12 mm wrench now.
