Etta. Enough said. She was born to a young woman, 15 I think, and was essentially raised by her grandmother in a southern baptist community and sang in church. She had struggled with poor male relationships and drugs almost her entire life. She is, and probably will always be one of the (in my opinion) top three soul singers of all time.
Etta James was an American singer who performed in various genres, including blues, R&B, soul, rock & roll, jazz & gospel in the 50's-80's. She had an amazing powerful voice. She had so many hits such as "At Last", "Stormy Weather", "The Wallflower", "Tell Mama", "Something's Got A Hold On Me", "If I Can't Have You", "Spoonful", "All I Could Do Was Cry", "My Dearest Darling", "A Sunday Kind Of Love", "Fool That I Am", "Don't Cry Baby", "Losers Weepers", "I Found A Love" etc.
Is Etta James one of the greatest blues singers that ever lived I am 78 and I’ve been listening to her and still do every single day since I was 15 years old. This is Liz, the queen/Elizabeth thank you for playing Etta🥰💜🙏🏻🦋♥️💋
This lady was, and is, Miss Etta James! A legendary performer who left for all of her fans the best musical performances and recordings for us to enjoy. She always loved her fans and involved them in her live performances as you can see in this one. She lived the blues, as well as good times, in her lifetime. We feĺt close friendships with her even if we never met her. You can see that in this video. God rest her soul.
Fun to see your reactions listen to the whole concert her version of the old Ray Charles song Drown in my own tears is one of the best and her band features baritone virtuoso Howard Johnstone amoung the Top list band Wow
You won’t regret any song that you played by Etta James I’ll take care of you at last Sunday kind of love trusted me I know them all Liz, the queen I will never forget it as long as I live/Elizabeth
She doesn’t need a mic. Her voice was that strong that she could carry a room without a mic I don’t know if you know where tonight I forgot to tell you in the other comments, she wrote this song herself, and it was during a bad period in their life. Maybe that explains it for you Liz the queen
And I could sing anything, but blues was her thing she was inducted into the blues Hall of Fame. She’s one of the greatest blues singer that ever lived and I go back as far as you know, the old ones Billie Holiday Dinah Washington, all of them, the most famous song that you probably will recognize is at Last and that plays on every movie that’s ever been played.

When Etta says "look out" she's dictating the sound and that she's going rogue for a minute to the band. Love Etta❤❤❤❤

Love Etta -- soul and blues. I'm certain Janis Joplin copied her style.
