Tablesaw arbor runout removal

- I used a router with a grinding stone chucked in it to remove an unacceptable amount of runout in the arbor of my powermatic 66 table saw. The arbor was not true, and the distortion was telegraphed and amplified by the blade. This caused a bad cut quality and increased the chance of binding and kickback.
You my friend are the genius that I have been needing to meet. Table saw arbor here I come....
Evan Roth Thanks for the kind words. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Very clever idea. I have a Ryobi 10" table saw that have a small amount of runout and it's always bugged me. I knew it wasn't going to cut like a DeWalt or Bosch table saw but I couldn't afford one of those. I will have to try this!
Thanks, this worked like a charm.
I hope it helped. When I talked to the tech at powermatic about the arbor, he said it would have to be replaced or removed and turned on a lathe. I didn't want to take the time and effort to do that, then have to reset all the alignments on the saw all over again.
Thanks for showing this.
nice
ingenious!

Just one question, what do you mean with "scrap diamond cut off blade"?
Sorry for the late reply, I was literally (almost) working on mars. By scrap diamond cut off blade, I mean the cheap ones you get at Harbor Freight for cutting concrete and tile. The 4 inch ones that go on an angle grinder. The ones that get bent when you aren’t being careful and you knock them off the workbench.
I gave this a shot, but it didn't improve things - I can't think why, since the principal seems sound.
I also put a new blade on. One of the problems I noticed before I fixed the runout was the blade was getting hot when cutting hard material and thick stock. An overly hot blasé can warp. Sorry for the late reply. I was in one of those soap opera comas. I might actually be Rod’s evil twin.
