Mallet took the Solstice and put an LS2 or LS7 in them could get blowers added too I believe if you wanted. I bid on one with an LS7 like 5-6 years ago wish I had bought. Already had a couple CTS-V and some other toys though. Mallet also was taking the first gen CTS-Vs like mine and putting LS7s in them too.
Your mom reminds me of my grandmother so much. I never LS swapped her car, but I always do this same sort of stuff with her. I love messing with her. It was great when you barely cracked it and she started yelling to stop.

That is a really really good idea for THIS mom, and this car. I bet that that angry v8 would burn up the flaps though. Resonator swap, double glass packs on each side, and then add flaps in the exhaust and she would love it. I bet it would refine the anger of the engine a bit too. When you get a motor dialed in right, on a high horsepower car, it usually feels like you're letting it out of a cage when you give it a lot of gas. As if by design it is being held back by not giving it the pedal, is what you're shooting for. I do strongly suggest adding the flaps, and improving the resonators. The glub blub blub glub (cam) sounds too open for her liking. Car guys would all love that sound it makes, and I do, but it's not what your mom wants.
I do kind of agree with your mom, and here is why: One thing about the solstice is that it was mostly silent and nimble, in it's stock form. All it's feel, and all it's moves were effortless, planted, and precise. With a v8 in there, it's shaking around and rumbling from all that displacement on a big cam. The only way to really calm it down, will be to put it in chains and that is by muffling, baffling, and/or resonating that exhaust.
Also: Because Mom, I would recommend your friend make 3 or 4 tunes. From de-tuned, up to maximum hp. Mom will want to use the de-tuned map, most of the time.
