  • On 23 October 2003, President of the United States of America George W. Bush visited and gave a speech to the Australian Parliament during a joint meeting (not a joint sitting!) of the House of Representatives and the Senate.
Prime Minister John Howard and Leader of the Opposition Simon Crean both gave speeches welcoming President Bush into the House of Representatives Chamber at Parliament House.
Notably, Greens Senators Bob Brown and Kerry Nettle were named by Speaker Neil Andrew and were then suspended from the services of the House, reflecting what may be the only time a Senator has been named by the Speaker of the House of Representatives and suspended by the Leader of the House.
The transcript of this sitting can be found here: parlinfo.aph.g...

    Imagine a world without freedom.
    America helped us in WW2.
    We should always help them.
    Anything different.
    Heaven forbid.

권위에 대한 의도적 장난 대화 외면, 그러면서도 바르고 곧은 품격의 가치를 지키는, 대단히 재미있는 것이, 영국령(Commonwealth)권 국회의 모습이다.
