- Hello again! Today I'm pulling out the new Ace Beaute' Smokey Roses eye shadow palette. Can a "lady of a certain age" get three looks from this one palette and is it a good value? Looks that she'd leave the house in, if she's not a Make Up Artist and doesn't want to embarrass her family? Please subscribe and follow me on IG @SheliTsunami.

You're beautiful :)
Actually, I love this brand's new formula. With BH cosmetics out (being part of MR has been the worst for BH cosmetics), Ace Beauté's new formula is my favorite. However, I do think they have been smarter than others might have seen. They reformulated their older palettes and let the public know. Once they got back public's credibility, they reformulated again for their next new palettes, but they didn't say it, which I think was brilliant. If it would have been told to the public when they released Tropical Vibes, it would have been really bad for them. People would have stepped back and said: "Really? Again? Don't you know what to do when it comes to eyeshadows?" They were brilliant, since they improved it extremely well. They just did let people buy their new color stories and try them for themselves. Ace Beauté's tones are hard to made and they do them incredible. You can go from the darkest to lightest or on the other way. The formula is extremely buildable and blend friendly, with the same tone and between different ones. Is as if the mattes have like a grip to them, since you can build one color over the other and blend without a limited number of colors or times (as would happen with Juvia's Place eyeshadows). With dark colors, patience is needed, and what I see is that, with Ace Beauté's formula, it becomes easier. I do not have your issues with their newer palettes, but I do respect your opinion. I understand you perfectly. Maybe, you had bad luck or something like that. The same happens to me, but with Colourpop. I gave up with them. Many people love those eyeshadows, which I find extremely dusty and patchy. They even changed their metallic formula for the worst, at least on the Tinker Bell palette. I like the Mandalorian shimmers better, but that burgundy red matte was terrible. Last but not least, I did not like the pink and the rainbow theme palettes from Ace Beauté's Paradise collection. Those are deceitful. The pink one (Blossom) seems to have different matte tones, but translate almost the same on the eyes and the shimmers are not that good. The rainbow one (Slice of Paradise) is just "blah" and "meh". I would recommend you the reformulated Classical Paradise or, if you prefer cool tones, the Fallen (but the silver shimmer is crumbly). Classical Paradise is flawless. Nevertheless, it seems we may have different preferences, when it comes to mattes. There are some BH cosmetics eyeshadow palettes that feel like Natasha Denona's. If you find BH cosmetics' Naughty palette, try it. You will not regret it. Hope this helps.
You look fantastic in your last look in this video! I have a certain bias towards Ace Beaute because they are based in Houston, Texas where I live and I want to support my local indie brands, but I also struggle a bit with their matte formula. I always catch them on sale and have managed to pick up 4 of their palettes for between $10 to $15 each. For that price, I don't mind working a bit with their mattes, but I don't think I would ever buy a palette of theirs at full price. Thank you for featuring smaller brands on your channel!
For me, Ace Beauté’s last chance was Paletteopoly. I almost gave up on them after using Violet Sage and three other palettes, but they redeemed themselves with the newest formula. I LOVE Paletteoploy and appreciate your thoughts on this one!
I love the fact that you are fearlessly digging into the palette and unapologetically playing with bold colors. I'm loving the red look you did, and feel like when you really brightened it up at the end it was such a fun and interesting look that walking down the street it would make me smile if I saw you. As a woman becoming "of a certain age" fairly soon, I am looking for new makeup role models who understand that women' faces evolve as they age, and that the way they apply makeup need not become boring nor less fun and experimental. As I approach my 40s I want to apply makeup in a way that still feels authentic, and uses my favorite as well as totally novel color stories: however, I also want to learn the theory and aesthetic rules that help guide our hand as we decorate aging faces! Our faces change and sometimes require entirely different approaches to applying makeup, and too little has been said about how aging should free you from conventions and allow you to explore totally new ways of celebrating and decorating your face as it begins to show signs of a life well lived, and a wisdom unknown to younger generations.
I also struggle with ace beaute, and most of my facial changes are corner of the eye and under eye lines. I love all of their color stories and compulsively collect them, but I find they just don't get the use that my Natasha Denona, Pat McGrath, Violet Voss and Viseart get for me. Like you said these other brands just "blend themselves." I almost find that they are too pigmented too fast. When I use a very powdery shadow like these, I like to use a Bobbie Brown cream stick shadow and it makes the mattes almost creamy the way their shimmers are, which helps a lot. I am getting this palette in my Ipsy and I'm super excited to play with it.
No! Don;t settle. If you don't like the formula... it just isn't your favorite. There's nothing wrong with that.
Oh and the names on that palette are also driving me nuts. Especially with the gorgeousness of the color story... why such strange names?
I have 2 Ace Beaute eyeshadow pallets from subscription boxes!
Performance is 'meh'! Thanks for sharing your experience!
I just got this palette and was searching for videos that showed looks with this palette. Thank you so much! ❤
Have you tried using synthetic brushes with their formula? For some reason my Rephor brushes don't do as well with tightly packed shadows. I really disliked their old formula, but I am a fan of their new formula.
Great idea. I'll give it a try
Yes! I think this may be a brushes thing. I have always loved their palettes and always use synthetic brushes with palettes like these.
I feel the same way about Ace Beaute. I keep trying it and wondering what I am missing. It’s just not my favorite formula. I do think the color stories are pretty though. 🤷🏻♀️
Yep, I still feel the same.
I've shied away from this brand. If I hear more negative than positive reviews I save my money for a different brand.
Good call!
I had a weird experience with this palette. I heard that it was for sale. I went to the site and it had sold out. But it just gotlne on sale about an hour beforehand. I don't really understand why there were so few copies for sale I know it was limited edition but it was apparently very very limited and I can't find any for resale on any of the relasale sites (I e. Poshmark, Mercari, etc.) It's kind of weird.
This one was better than most from their brand. IMO. Hopefully you can find one soon if you really want it.
It's actually going to be an option in BoxyCharm next month but that's probably why they are sold out.
The colour story of this palette is stunning xx
