    The best part of the video for me was the Heater element. I am so glad that you did not ignore it Matt. Coz I always thought my Bosch Classixx 1200 express Washing Machine only uses cold water and those settings of 40, 60 and 90 are dummy! LOL!

    Thanks,I've learnt loads through watching your vids,I had mine apart over Christmas,it went dead on me,no lights or anything,I got the pcb out and other one at the control panel I then squirted loads of contact cleaner over all the connections,put it back together again and hey-presto it lit up like new,if I hadn't of found these videos I would have scrapped it and gone and got another.so thanks very much indeed

    Hello, first thanks for a nice easy view about this machine. I bought a machine in Germany 220v / 50hz and I try to use it in Brazil 220v/ 60hz it just does not worked. Do you have any idea why? Thanks

    WOW! that was easy. Thanks a lot for the video, I was exactly looking for it. One question, how the door interlock senses when to unlock itself? I mean how it understands that the job is done and it is unlocked?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  4 года назад

      Hi Gemini, most washing machines use a bi-metal to lock and unlock the door, it heats the metal to make contact and lock the door when the machine has finished and the power is turned off the metal cools releasing the door.

    Hello.
    I have a problem with my slimline top loading washing machine.
    The hatch on the inner drum opened during washing, and the drum is now stuck in the tub.
    I tried to remove the side of the washing machine, but I can't figure out how to actually open the tub itself.
    Do you have any reccomendations on this?
    The machine in question is an ariston avtl 104.
    Will I need to take the entire tub out of the machine?

    Hello Matt, i've got a problem with my Hotpoint Aquarius WMA50. I forgot to turn the water supply taps, turned the washer and then i heard a bang/burning smell from around the programme selector knob. When i got the PCB out, some of the circuit copper lines on the board were cut and exposed.
    I solder wired those broken lines but the machine will not light up, just the door lock works when i turn to power.
    What can i do to rectify that issue?? Thank you!

    Why is it I see in the UK washing machines have heating elements? The hoover was the first one I noticed this. Since we commonly have hot water heating in the USA it would seem to only be an added expense in utility consumption. Not a green idea at all.

    • @davenwin1973
      @davenwin1973 6 лет назад +1

      DandyDon In Europe, they use tankless water heaters, and over there, the water heater wouldn't be able to supply enough hot water to the washer, or dishwasher, that they put heating elements in those appliances. Since Europe uses 1 phase 220 volt service, it doesn't cost them that much more to heat its own water. In North America, it would cost us more, as we use 1 phase 110 service, and that same appliance would need a 2 phase 220 volt service to operate it in the same way. For us, it would cost more. What few washers that have heating elements in them, only boost the temperature by up to 20 to 30°F for our models.

    How hot is the water if you put on 90 degrees?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  9 лет назад

      Hi Simon. depends on the machine. Older machines may have a Thermo mechanical thermostat that will 'turn off' when the drum water reaches around 90 degrees +- up to10% typically. A more modern machine will likely have a NTC sensor that can more closely monitor the temperature but again there may be tolerances that can effect this by a few degrees.
      Usually once the temperature is reached the heater will not come on again to 'maintain' the temperature and by the time the machine finishes the wash and discharges the water the temperature may have dropped significantly.

    Every time the drum stops its keep boiling it likes a kettle i all ways put my washing on 90 dregress and spin speed 1200 it takes 3hours to wash

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  9 лет назад

      Engineers listen for this noise when testing as you can hear the 'kettle noise' long before you detect heat through the door. It is not likely to be a fault but only use a 90 Wash when you need to as you are causing unnecessary wear on clothes and machines.
      If you have been 'boiling washing to tackle smells in the laundry see another video:

    Can u find money in the machine and can you make butter i know it sounds stupid but can you?

    • @eSpares
      @eSpares  9 лет назад

      Hi Simon. often Engineers find coins in the machine where they have been left in pockets and worked there way from the tub into the filter. These coins can do a lot of damage so you must check pockets to prevent this occurring.
      As far as making butter the drum movement may be suitable to churn butter but because of the construction it would be so difficult to clean thoroughly after use.
      If used repeatedly the 'old' butter from previous uses would soon go ranseed and spoil the fresh butter so making it unusable.
