This video will be helpful, just bought an 05 6.0 for the wife and kids, has the same problem areas as yours. Thanks for taking the time to make a video of the job.
I just got a quote for everything you did. Two restoration shops said $20K just to get started and it could go well over $50k. One place said they would pull the body off the frame. It looks like i'm about to learn how to do body and fab work lmao. thanks for the video!
My 2003 Excursion is rusted rocker panels too, but in Missouri I am praying it's not this involved to repair! Great job, so much work! SAD to see so much rot on such a beautiful truck! I can't wait to get my all stainless steel Cybertruck, it will last forever!!
Thanks for making this extremely detailed video. Looking back on it, would you have rather bought a Blown V10 truck from down south and swapped the 7.3L into it? I have a V10 03. The body metal is clean for the most part, except for the rockers. I thought it would just be a straight forward rocker job, but after watching this, I’m terrified to start stripping metal off of it!
Hello I am trying to fix my excursion I saw your video and I liked what you did, I am interested in knowing where they did the sandblasting and how much did they charge you? Would you be so kind to give me the information, please, thank you
Very impressive! My excursion rockers look like this unfortunately. Are you looking for any more excursion projects to work on, this might be over my head
what glue did you use to glue the qtr panel on? how thick was it and do you have to worry about the thickness of the glue throwing things out of alignment?
My father had an 03 Eddie Bauer with the same issues, he recently passed and I was considering rehabbing it and driving it as an homage of sorts, but just looking at the rocker panels on it made me cringe. I am dreading having to get quotes on having this done at shops around here, which is kind of puzzling. In the Northeast you'd think there are so many trucks, and the fact that literally EVERY F-series seems to rust in that area up her, that rust that body/welding shops could bang these out rather quickly by now, but just initial feelers before even looking at it are saying it's not going to be cheap. Also, question on the fender flares, which I'm assuming will also be rusted like yours in the video, could you just saw it out, grind it, prime/etch it, and just install larger aftermarket fender flares to cover it?
Sorry to hear about your pops. I'm in the northeast too. Where are you located? Ya I suppose you could try to slow down the rot and cover it. Easy and cheap fix that way.
Mine isn’t as bad as yours. But I am definitely looking for two dog legs for my excursion. Mine came from the East Coast when I bought it. I believe North Carolina to be precise. But I’ve already found some inner & outer rocker panels on Etsy. That’s the only place I’ve been able to find please dog legs is a particular salvage yard in Oklahoma where I live, the problem is it’s about a 3hr drive in each direction. And there are $450 apiece.
So going through the process myself with an 05 XLT from MN....What I did for the rear quarter was buy a 250/350 cab corner for $60. Cut off the section I needed and fabbed the rest to fit. Have pictures but can't seem to post them.
I have an 04 excursion that needs this exact work on the passenger side. Are you anywhere close to Ohio? I think I would rather pay you to do it than try to tackle this myself.
Long time Ford owners will go thru rotten Excursion rockers (me) and swear to never buy another Ford product. I tore off the running boards, cut out the rotten rear rockers, and grab the steering wheel to hop in. I have the V10 and will not let this truck go, but will never buy another Ford. Henry Ford, are you listening to me ???

Great video, I'm in the process of doing the same thing on my Excursion.
OMG.. I am looking for a used Ex right now...I think I will concentrate on southern vehicles after watching this...Scares the hell out of me!
Hahaha. Ya well worth buying something rust free. Spend the money. If u get something undercoat it! You'll be glad u did!
I'm just finishing this project now. Did an 08 nose swap and painted the whole truck!
Wow. Nice work dude. That wae a TON of work. Great video.
Damn how much would you charge to do some work like this? I’m in MA picked up an Excursion cheap because needs rust love
Thank you for your video. where did you find the quarter panels?

A lot of info I need to replace the rockers on my 07 expedition. Thanks.
Yes. Same basic principles. Just take your time and be sure to remove all the rust. Thanks for watching. Please subscribe!

VERY NICE WORK SIR.. THANK YOU..
I know this is 5 years old. But who did the sandblast? I live in CT and doing a 2005 and would like to have it blasted.
Thanks

Ya it's quite an undertaking lol. Not looking to do another one any time soon. Took me a couple months.

i saw where you commented your excursion was painted now. post up a new vid of it painted, would like to see it
Fantastic and ambitious!

@@johnmorneault7888 appreciate it. I'm on the South Shore of MA near Providence. How was the top of your windshield BTW did you have any there?
Oh your not far from me at all. I'm in Stafford Springs CT. Yes I did have some rot under the windshield.
You said you used rocker panels for a Quad cab? If I heard you right so I could use the rocker panels for a dodge to fix my 2000 Excursion?
No an f350 quad cab silly! Haha. But I do believe someone started making them for the excursions now.
John Morneault thank you. Mine aren’t that bad but I want to catch it before it eats back into the cab corners
@@johnmorneault7888 Will a 250 quad cab corner panel work as well?

I paid $450 a piece for the entire quarter panels in this video!
So the $450 I was quoted at a salvage yard is a fair price then?
If it is a complete quarter panel then yes
John Morneault think it’s just a dog leg

John morneault I would like to know, if you are still available on your RUclips page?
Need this ship to California!
What are we shipping? Lol
Great job
Thanks! I'll have more like this in the future once the new shop is up and running! Please subscribe!
