For the first one with the "white mist" its just that the dude was swaying and the light was shining through his elbow (his hands were on his hips) so it looks like a white spot (the light on the wall) in the middle of his shadow.

It first was a mansion later on after the owners died it was a place for nuns, then a prison. The thing about this mansion is you may be chased by melon heads.
