I just left a comment on a video that compiled all segments together, but I still feel the need to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this tutorial. Long story short, I’m getting KOF ‘98UM in the mail next Tuesday and needed something to expand my knowledge on how the game plays. Thanks to this tutorial I’m excited to get into the series with ‘98UM and XI after watching this godsend of a tutorial. Sure, the bosses of the series are gonna be a pain to deal with at first for me, but it’s worth getting into another great fighting game series.

@KosukeKGA that's the gist of it, jump CD usually helps you stay on offense since it knocks down on hit and has longer block stun than regular light/heavy pokes on block, plus characters with air specials can cancel off of it; keep in mind you can't keep it up endlessly though since jump CD isn't an overhead unlike other air normals
depending on the character some jump CDs are also good as air-to-air options as well; see 98 chris/chang

J, as a longtime fan of your work (even if you did kick my ass in Poporu '98 back in the day), I must say you've really outdone yourself this time. Where most RUclips tutorials (and many professional ones, too!) are unclear and rambling, you've really got something coherent and attention-grabbing here.
Just make sure you cover alternate guard at some point; that's still one of my biggest stumbling blocks as an eternal KOF scrub.

I would actually love for your guides to be put into the game, that would be so freaking awesome. My first kof was 13 when i was a kid, i booted up the combo tutorials immediately and saw how muxh physical pain the game caused me and drop the series after 2 days. Im looking to get into kof15, so i bought kof14 for practice. This franchise really does from different from other fighters and not many people acknowledge that in their videos. This is my first video seen by you but i hope you will continue making content in the future.👍 though you probs wont see this comment hahah.

Masterfully edited. This is a great service to people who are basically foreign to KoF. It's very informative without being overbearing; I don't see it turning off newcomers.
As great as SNK's instruction manuals usually are (I DIED when I read the one for KoF '98:Ultimate Match) this is much more entertaining and interactive. Lol.

"If you speak English and you play fighting games, chances are you don't play much KOF"
Say what?! I love KOF and have been playing since KOF 94 first came out. Only problem I've had with KOF is that it's become a very technical fighter. If you can't switch character and pull off these 20+ hit combos then you really can't hang with those that have that jedi-like skill. I really hope KOF XII returns to being easy to just pick up and play.

Excellent video! It's good to have a beginner's tutorial for KOF. Of all the time I've spent playing KOF, I've never utilized the various types of jumping maneuvers. I've always just played it like any other 2-D fighter. I haven't got that deep into it. I really gotta try this in '98UM.

As a novice in the King of Fighters, I really appreciate this video. It helped me understand that there are more ways to play than just jumping and attacking and using special moves.
Still, I am having trouble escaping opponents (KOF XI) who relentlessly attack me. Usually, I'm the one on the offensive with Short/Hyper Hops and Special Moves. But after getting pwn'd by Magaki, I think I've lost my edge. I keep asking myself..."How do I fight right?" How do I play the game right? Is there a right way to play? Do I really need to Guard Emergency Cancel or Emergency Shift or watdafuqisthatmodecode etcetera? I just don't know.
