I've always called myself a 1st generation California okie. My point is I graduated high school on welfare and really didn't know what I was going to do after. I think as long as you have an open mind you can achieve things you thought you couldn't. I'm now retired with 2 pensions and social security and doing pretty well. I've always believed in treating people the same way you want to be treated.

i remember when i was crushed by depression and trauma and i felt that nothing i did could change things, but through time and through putting in the (really hard to do) small efforts to try to get even an inch closet to how i wanted my days to be i HAVE managed to make life and how i feel MUCH better MUCH more often..i still have really tough days but please folks, if there are ever any really tough times in your life, be kind to yourself and then think of how you would like to build up your life and then DO the steps to get there.. even if you get an inch closer that is you an inch closer, and the more often you try, especially when things go wrong, keep on trying and you WILL be able to make more of your days feel closer to how you would like them to be, and if things go wrong be kind to yourself and keep on trying the steps to get there.. it helps build up how we feel too, the little victories.. please don't delete my comment as i do the channel I'm writing this comment from to help people get through tough times faster by talking about the things i find help.. People make excuses in life in attempt to not feel bad about their failures which in the end only creates more failures and shame. Obstacles are meant to be overcome, when you see someone in track and field jumping hurdles you never see them just stop and say they can't do it. To call upon one's courage, there first has to be a driving force, in my opinion. My curiosity is just that, curiosity. Not a ploy to make judgements. One has to have a target or goal in sight in order to give directions for one's efforts towards acquisition.
I was born in a house that would fit inside the one I live in now 3 times with a little left over. My dad was an outlaw biker that was never home. Mom didn’t work. When my dad was in prison we survived off chicken and rice. We were dirt poor. My mom eventually took a job at a textile mill but that was hard to support four kids. My oldest brother died running from the police. My oldest sister never held down a job and bounced from guy to guy. My younger brother is an alcoholic and has worked in restaurant kitchens his whole life and has scattered three DUI’s over a 20 year period. By “statistics” or where I was born, I should not be where I am. I’ve got up everyday and worked my butt off.
