oh my god finally someone who explains this well enough for me to get! I tried it and it worked! All these years I never understood this process of adding salt and now I can have thick soap always
Same
This video is exactly what I was looking for since last year! Thank you so much for sharing!
Such a quick easy and super helpful video! Thanks!
YES!!!! Thanks so much for this clear reassuring demonstration.
Thanks so much for sharing this brilliant info. So simple.
Thanks I always wondered and finally found someone who did this
Amazing. Simple. I fast forwarded to what I came to see but worth it.
yes please make more soap videos . love your videos
Excellent demonstration. Thanks for sharing. ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!!! I’ve been trying to figure this out!
Thank you for this!!!! I am going to start making my own soaps and hate how they are so thin!
Great idea thanks...question,does the salt have a bad effect on your skin?
This is so useful, thank you! I have a question though, will this last for a while or will the soap thin out when it sits?
Thank you for posting this informative video. I made my first batch of liquid soap and it came out too thin for my taste and I remembered adding salt could thinking soap but I was too scare to add it without some type of validation. You have provided that and then some.... THANK YOU!
This was super helpful, TY!
OMG!!! thank you so much for this!!!
Brilliant! Thank you for the best nugget of soap knowledge ever!
I'm making some liquid soap for the first using Pears soap and this looks really helpful. Thanks!
OMG! Nice , I want to use a soap I’ve not use for a long time as toilet freshener, and has those hang over toilet freshener you can put soap inside but last longer if it’s thicker soap
Thank you for this helpful video because I want to use Castille soap but it is so runny! Does it matter what type of salt to use? Another video said to use Kosher Salt. Also, would you mind providing specific measurement for the salt water recipe?
Hi
I have a question about Liquid soap again, please.
I watched your and other videos online on how to make liquid Castile soap thickens by adding salt solution.
When I do this to a certain extent, like 12 tbsp per liter, I get a thick liquid like sauce, but it doesn’t thicken further. It doesn’t become a paste like the video. Why does this happen?
Another question, do I have to leave the Castile soap for 2 - 3 weeks to cure before I use it? Would it behave better if I do? Or shall I use it from the second day?
Thanks a lot.
That's so beautiful , please I have question
what kind salt you were used .
,,, thank you ,,,
Thank you this will come in handy
hi have you ever had a problem where your soap separated completely how did you fix this
Omg Thanks a million 💓 coming from Trinidad 🇹🇹
Very helpful, thank you
will this work for a DIY hand soap? I used castille soap plus water, a few drops of essential oil. But my family is complaining that it feels 'too watery' comapred to store bought.
Wish I'd seen this half an hour earlier, subbed and liked thank you 🤔🐐🐐🐐😇
Thank you for the amazing video, what is the life span of the shampoo?
do you add a preservative?
Wow, did not know that, thanks so much.
Perfect thank you! Thanks for sharing! -Bella’s mom.
Thanks , dear can we mix salt directly
Any tips for when your homemade liquid soap has a slimy texture?
Thanks a lot! So it is two parts water to one part salt, right? Is it distilled water? Or it doesn’t matter. Blessings❤
I understand that you probably misspoke when you said 2:1 of salt to water so instead of 2 parts salt to 1 part water, I weighed out 2 parts boiling water to one part salt (I used fine sea salt) and it just seems to be way too much salt for the water to hold. Despite using freshly boiled water from the kettle and stirring vigorously, there are so many grains of salt left in the water. After some experimenting I know what can happen if there are grains of salt in your salt solution and it mixes in with your Castile soap so I tried to add bits of water until the salt full dissolved. Then I spooned out some of the water into my soap and mixed. And of course it’s not working, I guess my salt mixture is too watery now, but I had to add more water for the salt to dissolve. My soap is not thickening at all, it’s just making it whiter. I am using Dr Bronners citrus liquid Castile soap (I’m adding the salt water to just that, nothing else is in the soap). What on earth am I doing wrong? Why won’t my salt dissolve in a 2:1 ratio like yours did? I’ve already wasted so much expensive Castile soap tonight experimenting 😭
Can i implement same on diy shampoo ??
Can’t wait to try it I bought store soap and it’s too watery and my husband hates it can’t wait to fix it
What are the measurements of water and salt to thicken up Castile soap for a face wash?
How important is it to dissolve the salt in water before adding? The shampoo I made already has a lot of water as part of the ingredient.
Good morning dear
I just had this issue now
So does table salt reduce the foaming density of the liquid soap
Thank you mam.. Is this works for Hair wash shampoos also?
Can this be done with bar soap that has been flaked and reconstituted...too loose?
How much would you suggest for a 2.5 gallon container you've already made?
Thanks a ton!
thank you for this demonstration, does this method only work on KOH liquid soaps...or should it also work on NaOH liquid soaps?
Karin Emery koh for liquid soap
Koh makes liquid soap, naoh makes solid soap. Adding salt (NaCl) thickens liquid soap because the sodium starts competing with the potassium to form soap.
Thank you! Also, a comment below answered the mystery of my last batch of watery thin soap: too much essential oil. And finally, I believe salt dissolves faster in cold water than hot water.
😂
Can you use any kind of salt or does it half to be table salt or can it be pink Himalayan salt
Thank u so much.it works
I subbed and rang the bell.... I had no idea this would work to thicken liquid soaps. What a great tip. Thank you. :o)
Hi:
I'm interested in thickening up some very thin store bought liquid soap. Iheard the ratio of 2 to 1 ratio but what exactly does that mean? I would appreciate clear measurement directions. How much salt and how much water? I have a 32oz container of liquid soap that I'd like to thicken up and would like to do it all at once instead of small cups at a time.
Example:
1 cup of walter to how much salt???
1 gallon of water to how much salt???
my soap was perfect in the beginning but after a while turned clumpy do u have any idea what I did wrong?
Thank you so much
Awesome, cheers
Can i apply the same method to dish washing liquid? Its think and i wast to make it thick.
Is there any way to thicken my shampoo without using salted water? Please, have a g one.
Very gud.mam liqued ittom name or castic use .
Can i use it for my home made hand wash.pls reply.
How do your turn body wash into bar soap please help.
Will this work to thicken homemade laundry detergent as well?
Hello there. I have actually kind of opposite problem. I added too less water into my bought Castile soap liquid baseand after additing lemongrass essential oil it became even more extremly thick. Now is the consistency more like jelly not liquid. Now I am wondering, if I may "rebatch" this soap by additing some more boiled water into this mixture? Won´t I ruin anything on this soap then? Thank you for your answer!
did it end up going back to a liquid on its own?
Nice one
Thank you
Wonderful
Thanks for this! Question: you said a 2-to-1 ratio of salt to water, but is that by weight or by volume?
I’ve always done by volume.
Thank-you for asking this!!
Hi I made already homemade body wash I add all different oils in liquid soap and still very liquidity can I still add salt water in that ?
Hi did u try it
Hi mam superrrrrrrrb awesome what did you mixed in that soap oil.its any chemical u added.what s that tell me the name madam it's very useful to us.
Hani Win it was salt in hot water until salt is dissolved then slowly add a little at a time. Good luck
I bought some fantastic smelling liquid hand soap on Etsy ...the scents are for guys, so very cool because it's hard to find soaps with masculine scents. However, though the description said it was a thick gel, it arrived very watery. I added salt, but it seemed to only make it thinner and now it doesn't lather as good. I bought 8 bottles, all different scents, 8 oz each. If I added Cocamidopropyl Betaine would that help? Thanks.
It does help but only temporary I've been using it for my homemade body wash and it gets back liquidity after awhile
@@jericastoudemire6529 I tried it and it worked very well
I want to ask a question
What if i had made the mistake of adding too much salt water how do i solve that problem?
Thank you.
Omg Thnk you so much!!!! Crothix is soooo expensive
thank you
Very helpful info; thank you so much...❤❤You've made it easy and I'll definitely try this right away on some liquid Soap made from bar soap which didn't gel nearly as well as expected! Too much water was added but I'd hoped it would be fine..No,I was wrong😂😂😂😂
Hi tfs. How much salt to water would you recommend per pound of liquid soap? Thanks.
2:1 ratio.
I'm new to this, so is it 2-1 teaspoon of salt to water or 2-1 teaspoon of water to salt? Thanks
Whatever amount you use, just make sure it’s 2:1 ratio of water to salt. However I found I needed a bit more water to dissolve it.
Hi how much salt should I add for a 5litres liquid soap
Thanks a lot dear am from Uganda 🇺🇬
How much would I need for a 12 oz bottle?
What do added in water solution?
Is it 2 parts salt to 1 part water? I didnt have the problem with it being to thin till I added my fragrance oil then it became like water I need help lol
Same problem
Salt 1 part and 2parts of water
Hi nice info. I have diluted 100gns of shampoo base with 75gms of DM water but it's very watery can I use this method.then I used my shampoo, but still my hair looks oily.
My receipes is hpls method
60% coconut oil 40% castor oil,10% glycerine
75gms koh
150 DM water
addictives are
2%hisbicus puree and 2% herbal powder ,even I had added sodium gulonate and preservative , can use explain where I went wrong
Use less castor oil. It makes hair to glossy. Use like 35% coconut oil, 25% sunflower oil which it has vitamin e already grown in and also preserves the shampoo, making it bind together yet last longer, 20% glycerin, and 20%water.
What should I do if the liquid soap is too slimy?
Is it working for goats milk liquid soap?
Can we add salf directly into the soap and shake to get the same outcome. Can you specify the max amount of salt for 1kg of soap.
It will probably turn to gel
@@lorip6846 I've tried many combinations. Best thing that thickens the soap is not salt, its a compound called HEC extracted from plant sources
@@mfzasr5665 where can i buy it please. And whats HEC in full?
@@carolynekhabamba1016 hydroxyethyl cellulose. Should be able to buy at chemical stores or soap making supplies.
Please write the name of thickeners' agent.
How do i make liquid soap at home plus stain removal
When you say 2 to 1 ratio is it 2 salt 1 water or 2 water 1 salt?
Isabel M Sivadjian did you ever find out!
@@sherithabrown140 2 water : 1 salt I had to look it up on another site :)
Hi mam,
Actually I need to thicken my liquid detergent, so in this method can thicken mam?
Is that regular table salt?
What type of salt pls? Table salt or sea salt?
Is there a certain type of salt we need to use or avoid? ls sea salt would be ok?
I have used both regular table salt and sea salt and they have both worked. As long as it will dissolve in warm water, you should be fine.
Three Little Goats thanks for super fast response!
@@ThreeLittleGoats Is this helps for bathing soaps.
Any salt can be used?
Wow! Does the salt dry out your skin, what kind of salt did you use
i wanna know too
Would this make solid molded soap?
+Gloria Colon no, it would not. If you are looking making bars, there are a few videos on my channel for that.
How can I make shampoo thicker?
Thank-you! So 2:1 salt:water
Will it then need a preservative since you've added water?
I have this same question...
I was wondering this
What did she make at first the distilled soap - how ???
Do you have any tips for making a creamier soap?
emulsifiers and oils!
What's the intro music's name?
