Hey Jimbo, I just passed first go yesterday at Miranda! I went really well on it all thanks to your videos. Funniest thing happened when going back to the carpark. A small branch randomly fell on my windscreen, I didn't even see a tree anywhere by haha.

Failed my first test today due to turning around and not realising it was on a solid line! Instant fail!! But did pass everything else thanks to your videos, fingers crossed for next time.

@@williamrice2464 Hi William it depends. If you want to catch the 20 tonne truck before it take you out running a red then yes. If you are only concerned about the test don't worry unless you are first at the line.

Hi Jimbo, thanks for the great video. I have a question on the zipper that has no road markings between the lanes/cars. As a newbie, it is hard to tell whether there is a zip merge in front that the broken line between two lanes is going to disappear, especially when there is no sign to indicate it on the city roads..
Hi Pan, i think its really gets down to observation of the road markings. You just need to identify if you need to cross a broken line or not. If you do then give way, if you dont then whoever is in front had priority.
Hi Jimbo, I was wondering, what's the protocol for when one lane suddenly widens into two lanes, as in suddenly there's a broken white line in front and you have to choose to take either the left or right lane? I'm guessing you do mirrors and a blind spot check before moving either way but are you meant to indicate? I feel like indicating might be confusing because I have come across this situation right at an intersection where the right lane can go straight ahead and right and the left lane can go straight ahead and left. I am probably overthinking it but I thought it would be good to get your input. Thanks for all of your great videos.
Hi Lunden usually if there is one lane forming into 2 all you need to do is while in the single lane part favour the side of the lane you wish to go into. If you plan to be in the left lane then immediately favour the left side. You won't need to do checks unless you think there is room for another car to come up the side. If you plan to go into the left lane but favoured the right then you definitely will need to do all checks and signals.
Hi, I have my test next week at Gregory hill. Thanks for your vids so helpful!! Just a question before the test starts, the testing officer usually checks the brakes and indicators what else do they check? Thank you so muchb
Hi Aisha they also check if the car is registered, if it has a faulty Takarta airbag, if the tyres have sufficient tread, that the windscreen is not cracked in a way that obscures vision, that the exterior headlights/ brake lights etc are not cracked. The speedo needs to work if it can been seen from their seat. They check that your logbook is filled out and signed correctly.
My son failed his driving test 5 times…. Everytime different reason and feels hes simply being unlucky. For example, he failed today test because illegal manoeuvre - which we dont get a satisfactory answer ( was about to turn to left, but drove straight as per supervisor’s change of mind)…this didnt make sense to me… I was wondering if we can get you help him please - we will make ourselves available to suit your limited availability. Please help me.. hes super anxious and started self-doubting…. Many thanks in advance

Hey Jimbo, me again~ during today’s test, there was 1 thing happened and I still don’t know what i should do if 2nd chance. 70-80 speed street, 3 lanes, I was on far left, the 2 lanes on my right are both for turning right. So I was told turn right next red light- I need to merge on the middle lane- watching the mirror a truck was bearing on me, so I chose to wait but I worry I wouldn’t be able to finish merging when coming to the red light- then I checked mirror, truck still there.. more anxious - then my steering shift a little bit and that was my mistake- the officer grabbed my wheel said the truck was letting me to merge as he drove to the far right lane - I understand the obvious mistake I made but, how can I know if someone will directly merge to the next 2nd lane from mirrors? - as if I know how to tell, I wouldn’t be anxious .. looking forward to hearing ur answer Tks
Hello Aimee it's a bit hard to give an accurate answer as I really need to have observed your situation. But in general terms if another vehicle is allowing you to change lanes in front of them they have to have slowed to your speed. You need to be able perceive this in your mirror. This can take some experience to make such a perception. While checking for this you have to keep steady with your steering because if you wander the examiner will grab the steering and then F6. So I would recommend doing lots of lane change/merging in busy traffic. Get your signal on and start learning to read when a car has slowed to your speed and letting you in. Don't forget to also do a blind spot head check.
Hi Jimbo, thanks for all your videos. Is there any way to tell early on if your lane will be ending soon (not a form 1 lane merge) so you can prepare to merge earlier? When I've practiced on unfamiliar roads, I find there's no indicator it's going to end (unless you know the road already) and it catches me off-guard (I'd rather prepare earlier) and I get rather nervous about potentially having to stop and wait for someone to let me in the other lane.. As far as I know, there aren't usually any signs or markings on the road to indicate this (until it's close to ended). So is there any way to tell or is it really just a matter of relying on GPS/knowing the road already?
Would you be able to do a video on getting pulled over and how to handle police? In my town p players get picked on and all my mates have warned me I’ll be a target cause of my Subaru. So would appreciate it!
Hi Lucy thats an interesting topic and would make a great video. Ill have a think about it. But just some thoughts on it, you just have to accept that if you have a "certain type of car" it will be "noticed" by Police. Thats just how it is. But when you get pulled over you need to present yourself in a certain way. Show no emotion, say very little and just answer the questions the Police ask you. Don't make excuses. I repeat DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES and try and convince the Police why you may have done something they think you did. You have to pass what is called the "attitude test". If you have been issued an infringement then there is nothing you can do. Do not argue. Just say thank you and move on. That's all you can do. If you disagree with the infringement then take it to court and have your say there.

Hi Dpd a P1 and P2 can use a GPS navigator (not phone) as long as it is secured in a cradle.
Hi Jimbo, thanks for the great video. I have a question on the zipper that has no road markings between the lanes/cars. As a newbie, it is hard to tell whether there is a zip merge in front that the broken line between two lanes is going to disappear, especially when there is no sign to indicate it on the city roads..
Hi Pan, i think its really gets down to observation of the road markings. You just need to identify if you need to cross a broken line or not. If you do then give way, if you dont then whoever is in front had priority.
Hi Jimbo, I was wondering, what's the protocol for when one lane suddenly widens into two lanes, as in suddenly there's a broken white line in front and you have to choose to take either the left or right lane? I'm guessing you do mirrors and a blind spot check before moving either way but are you meant to indicate? I feel like indicating might be confusing because I have come across this situation right at an intersection where the right lane can go straight ahead and right and the left lane can go straight ahead and left. I am probably overthinking it but I thought it would be good to get your input. Thanks for all of your great videos.
Hi Lunden usually if there is one lane forming into 2 all you need to do is while in the single lane part favour the side of the lane you wish to go into. If you plan to be in the left lane then immediately favour the left side. You won't need to do checks unless you think there is room for another car to come up the side. If you plan to go into the left lane but favoured the right then you definitely will need to do all checks and signals.

Hi Aisha they also check if the car is registered, if it has a faulty Takarta airbag, if the tyres have sufficient tread, that the windscreen is not cracked in a way that obscures vision, that the exterior headlights/ brake lights etc are not cracked. The speedo needs to work if it can been seen from their seat. They check that your logbook is filled out and signed correctly.

My son failed his driving test 5 times…. Everytime different reason and feels hes simply being unlucky. For example, he failed today test because illegal manoeuvre - which we dont get a satisfactory answer ( was about to turn to left, but drove straight as per supervisor’s change of mind)…this didnt make sense to me… I was wondering if we can get you help him please - we will make ourselves available to suit your limited availability. Hey Jimbo, me again~ during today’s test, there was 1 thing happened and I still don’t know what i should do if 2nd chance.
70-80 speed street, 3 lanes, I was on far left, the 2 lanes on my right are both for turning right. So I was told turn right next red light- I need to merge on the middle lane- watching the mirror a truck was bearing on me, so I chose to wait but I worry I wouldn’t be able to finish merging when coming to the red light- then I checked mirror, truck still there.. more anxious - then my steering shift a little bit and that was my mistake- the officer grabbed my wheel said the truck was letting me to merge as he drove to the far right lane - I understand the obvious mistake I made but, how can I know if someone will directly merge to the next 2nd lane from mirrors? - as if I know how to tell, I wouldn’t be anxious .. looking forward to hearing ur answer Tks
Hello Aimee it's a bit hard to give an accurate answer as I really need to have observed your situation. But in general terms if another vehicle is allowing you to change lanes in front of them they have to have slowed to your speed. You need to be able perceive this in your mirror. This can take some experience to make such a perception. While checking for this you have to keep steady with your steering because if you wander the examiner will grab the steering and then F6. So I would recommend doing lots of lane change/merging in busy traffic. Get your signal on and start learning to read when a car has slowed to your speed and letting you in. Don't forget to also do a blind spot head check.
Hi Jimbo, thanks for all your videos. Is there any way to tell early on if your lane will be ending soon (not a form 1 lane merge) so you can prepare to merge earlier? When I've practiced on unfamiliar roads, I find there's no indicator it's going to end (unless you know the road already) and it catches me off-guard (I'd rather prepare earlier) and I get rather nervous about potentially having to stop and wait for someone to let me in the other lane.. As far as I know, there aren't usually any signs or markings on the road to indicate this (until it's close to ended). So is there any way to tell or is it really just a matter of relying on GPS/knowing the road already?

Hi Lucy thats an interesting topic and would make a great video. Ill have a think about it. But just some thoughts on it, you just have to accept that if you have a "certain type of car" it will be "noticed" by Police. Thats just how it is. But when you get pulled over you need to present yourself in a certain way. Show no emotion, say very little and just answer the questions the Police ask you. Don't make excuses. I repeat DO NOT MAKE EXCUSES and try and convince the Police why you may have done something they think you did. You have to pass what is called the "attitude test". If you have been issued an infringement then there is nothing you can do. Do not argue. Just say thank you and move on. That's all you can do. If you disagree with the infringement then take it to court and have your say there.
