Oren, your videos are excellent! You have a great sense of humour and you’re honest! I wasn’t going to get your app because for my budget it is an expensive app, but now I will purchase your all because you earned my greater admiration when you introduced your viewers to your Grandfather 💙 That added a special personal touch ! I wish you all the very best, always! Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺
I remember visiting the art studio in the Cardo when I was in Israel in 2019. I'll be back next month, and can't wait to stop in again. Oren, I just bought your app, for my trip. If nothing else, your videos are so great, you deserve the "tip."
I stayed a couple of times in Israel and my experience is first and almost using credit cards. I had only a small amount of cash with me. You can use the creditcard all the time, at a filling station you need help at the office, they are very helpful and explain all the needs in English, no problems. Have a good time in Israel and enjoy all the sites.
Oren I appreciate this video so much and loved it! Currency exchange places are essential when traveling (I used them a lot in my 3 months in israel). I’m hoping to come back to Israel in the future and come to Jerusalem again. I love the blue & white store introduced in the video-the cat is adorable too ❤
I am to Amy from Hillsong Greater West. I have been several times and I love Israel 🇮🇱 and I also went to Joseph Tomb in Nablus and Jacob’s well. and Mount Ebal and Gerizim . Now the best time to travel is 1st week or the second week of March before the Passover pagans call it Easter 🐣 and the western world 🌎 call it’s pagan name Easter 🐣 this is also the season of many deaths. Unnecessary deaths. Why ???? Unprotected. Just make sure you go the temple Mt. And King David City. And the Yehudah Market. Take care ✝️🕊️💜🇮🇱🕎
the best exchange i found every trip i made to israel is in the old city, go in jaffa gate and straight down the step on the right is a muslim exchange, always the best,
I lived and worked in Israel for 3 Years in the 80s and had an Apartment in Tel Aviv. I can tell you some Horror Stories about changing Money. We were constantly approached on the Streets to change Money. At that Time Israelis were not permitted to have Foreign Currency unless they had a Visa for traveling out of Israel. We learned very quickly all of the “Tricks”. The worst Offenders were the “Curly Wurlies”. Inflation was enormous and the Black Market Exchange Rate was published in the Newspapers every Day. We had our favorite Shops to Change but only changed our US Dollars one Week at a Time. The only Time I changed in the Bank is when I bought a new Subaru and had to prove that I had changed my Dollars legally. We visited Israel a couple of Years ago after 30 Years absence and could not recognize the Place. It had changed so drastically (and not always for the better). Shallow alachem.
Great video…👍…I have exchanged money a few times while in Israel…then I found out I could do the same in my County 🇨🇦…either at my bank or an exchange business…most times I got a better exchange at my bank…I also have an free app on my phone that gives me an approximate exchange rate which is very useful…when traveling…toda
I have exchanged $ near the stores that you show first and it was fair but the best rate I got was by withdrawing cash from my US bank account at the atm across Davidka plaza. Excellent video
When I was in Israel, our tour guide took us to a bank for our monetary transactions. We never encountered any problems. (CJB): " For the love of money is a root of all the evils; because of this craving, some people have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves to the heart with many pains."
I am planning a trip to Israel in October or November. I am going solo and my first time traveling alone. Only been to Florida with a friend. Going to watch your other videos to figure out how to find and book tour guides
Another awesome video with insider tips - seriously good & exceptionally useful! Do you have any videos on exchange tips across the rest of the country? For example, if spending time in the Galilee, where are the best places for tourists to exchange money?
Good morning Oren, your videos are excellent and helpful. Thank you for very informative videos. How much a private tour cost and we are planning to visit for 10 days Israel tour.
Those manhole covers are probable the most meaningful manhole covers in the world (seriously). I never thought I'd say that sentence... That's neat message.
Jumping into the future... I started watching after Oct 7 and I'm working my way backwards. You inspired me. Just finished reading The Palestinian Delusion and today started The Complete Infidels Guide to the Koran.
Sellers accept the euro but value it as a dollar. it is not profitable to have euros. Thanks to these video clips, I found my way around Israel easier. I was during Shabbat and Passover. Exchange offices were not working, and in some shops you only needed cash, in churches and taxis as well. If you plan on cash then better dollar than euro. Of course, exchange offices calculate according to the exchange rate, and that's ok. I just changed into one of these from the video clip.
Todah, Oren. What luck- I'll be staying near the J**** Gate when in Jerusalem. Will be sure to avoid the atms there. I'm hoping the guide(s) for the tour I'm on (which will go to Caesaria and Haifa, then up to the Galilee and south to the Negev) will be as helpful as you.
You will still need cash for a taxi. Also, small purchases are a hassle when you use a credit card. Besides the shop actually loses money on small purchases due to service fees.
There are some great Italian restaurants in Israel. But I am sure you have those in Italy as well. 🤣 There are great restaurants of all sorts in Israel, so I hope you don't have the room and board rate. You don't want to end up eating all your meals at the hotel. When in Jerusalem, check out the Nahon Museum of Italian Jewish Art. It is rather small, but if you are in the vicinity, it is worth a looksee.
Finding places to change HKD and renminbi was a bit of a challenge. There’s a decent place in one of the back streets near the Damascus gate away from the tourist area. Getting shekels in Hong Kong also takes a bit of a search. (1 shekel =$2/¥2 roughly, so easy to work out prices)
Wow. Sad day for us. We had passport issues getting on the plane. Jerusalem is not going to happen for us right now. I'm heartbroken, not sure how we can afford to try this again. Thanks Oren for the videos, we were confident we could do it with your app and videos. 👍
But Oren - my friends stayed at the Eldan Hotel in Jerusalem in December and locked USD in their room safe. When they returned the safe had been robbed and the staff shrugged their shoulders. Later they said they fired the room attendant or maintenance person (can't remember which it was) and that's it. No ownership or compensation for the loss. Thank goodness, my friends were able to find another hotel during that busy time because they felt really unsafe there. Did the staff know that they had a thief employed there? What a horrible experience. I wouldn't carry that much cash nor assume that it is safe ANYWHERE I travel. Israel is a country like anywhere and there are thieves here too.
Well, we now know not to stay at the Eldan Hotel. I hope your friends put a strong comment in their review section on Google Maps AND on any other place a review can be written.
Of course.I live in Jerusalem.I have been "pickpocketed " twice, my husband too.We have been burglared and my daily stole my jewelery box under my nose. Israel is a normal country .I never leave the house with a lot of money in my bag. The"banana" pouch is a good solution for tourists who need cash.

Hello everything is fine? I'm Brazilian and I live in London. could you please tell me if i get the visa at the airport or do i have to get it before? thank you shalom
Thanks for the video! Got a question, is it possible to use debit cards in Israel? Creditcards are barely used in my country and getting one is a lot of hassle. Will probably do it if needed, but if debit cards work that'd be great.
@@Travelingisraelinfowhy is it not possible to use a debit card? A debit card means you actually have your own money unlike credit cards that is borrowing?🤔
True, and that's a bit annoying. When I arrive in Israel, I will take the train to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, or wherever. But I still need a taxi to get from the train station to the hotel. So I have to find an ATM either at the airport or bus station. After an 11+ hour flight, I just want to get to the hotel, and not hunt for an ATM!
