Iyowife is a reference to The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. This is a line from the character of Cynthia, the Filipina wife of Bob. Not a great name, but a deep-cut drag reference.
I think hearing someone finally say "Monet made all the same poor choices on Patty that she did on Tyler Oakley" is the catharsis I needed to hear. I love Monet, but that face was terrifying, and for all the shit they gave Manila for her outfits, I think a sequined bodysuit is a little more expected. Manila's dresses were conceptually more interesting and her husband looked gorgeous. Plus, Manila being eliminated robbed us of having her overacting in the next challenge, and her amazing siamese kitty look.
@@brynnamoran4320 Oh, boy! I sure can't wait to see which kind of clothing Michelle has decided to hate for the sake of justifying an elimination in the new season! :D
What pissed me of the most is that, I thought her makeover of Tyler Oakley wasn't that bad, and this one wasn't that good, they were both safe, and if anything Tyler Oakley's was better.
The judging in this episode made me feel like I was in the Twilight Zone. Also if you want to ditch reviewing the last few episodes you have my full support!
10:30 Season 7 makeover was genuinely good. It is bad when they make them do "make them look like your family", cause queens go straight into recreating their own looks on other people and it almost never looks good. Season 7 had the theme of conjoined twins, and we had multiple different and fun ideas. Like Katya and Kasha being alcoholic sisters or Pearl and Trixie doing kid pageant. Do it with a theme - makeover yourself and your friend to be faboulous bitches in the same theme, maybe recreate some iconic duos from the history. Like I want what Naomi did in this challenge - clear theme, recognisable reference. It would be fun to see them bring back eleminated queens, but this time maybe making queens that are still on, try to remake style of eliminated queens? Not do extreme copy of it, but their own version of it.
I know the queens are secluded during shooting (no internet), but allowing them some 'research time' would increase the quality of the show. You know, time when the real library is open.
I mean Monique being robbed this entire season is the general consensus right? Monet's makeover wasn't great and definitely should have been in the bottom this episode, Manila should have carried on and the final two should have been either Manila and Monique or Manila and Trinity. Those 3 and Naomi would have been a fantastic Top 4 (I think Monet did well enough to justify being in the Top 4 but not to ultimately win).
Thank you! After the double crowning I kept seeing people online propping up Monet and saying that her win was well-deserved and I was just like...on what planet? She bombed the talent show, bombed the Snatch Game (and honestly should have been in the bottom), was forgettable in Jersey Justice and Sex and the City, and was undeservedly placed high for the makeover. On top of that her runways were mediocre to bad (that Pink Panther thing that looked more like an aborted pig fetus) and two of her four lip syncs were totally forgettable (vs Valentina and vs Naomi). To me, she was a very distant fifth behind Manila and Trinity (who were appropriately praised, although obviously Manila was robbed), and then Naomi and Monique (both of whom were wildly underpraised). I never really got the hype for Monet though, and always found her kind of basic. As far as I'm concerned, the fact that she is now the winner of a RPDR all-star season is just further proof of the decline of the American empire.
@@samuelcroft3478 Had Trinity not been crowned too then I would have been more angry at the time (although the rushed edit to make it a double crowning seems pretty insulting for both Trinity and Monet).
@@SamR1995 Insulting is definitely the word. Trinity being crowned alone would certainly have been more satisfying than what we got, but after Manila's elimination, the season was dead in the water as far as I'm concerned. Second AS season in a row that these stupid elimination rules have directly led to the loss of the frontrunner. As Avaryl and Andrew have repeatedly pointed out, this format just doesn't lend itself to good entertainment most of the time....yet the producers desperately cling to it for some reason.
I don't mind the All-Stars rules maybe halfway through the season, since up to a point if you're in the Bottom 3 in a group of 12-8 queens then you deserve the opportunity to be sent home, All Star or not. However, I think midway through the season they should switch back to the original Drag Race rules, or to something different. Like, AS4 after the LalapaRuza episode that would have been the perfect time to keep All Stars rules suspended and go back to the Lipsync for the Life format. Because at that point the top 6 queens deserve to be there, and letting them get eliminated due to drama or 'playing the game' just comes off as unsatisfying to the viewers.
I was kind of screaming at this episode. I am so glad I was not the only one angry. Just no. Thank you for always making this fun. Making my day as I sit with the flu. No wine, but definitely some nyquill.
