YES!! ever had a (friend) who always tries to put words in your mouth?! secular music does that to your spirit with emotions. "Cutting out, not cutting in"📢‼
Same . I too stopped listening to cini music and started listening to gospel music. And it feels like it is definitely worth it when I watch the testimony of others. It makes me feel I am not alone. It's not jyst me and God but also a lot of fellow Christians out there.
Though I'd agree with the reasons to quit "secular music", we should do away with the classification of Secular vs Christian. Better fitting classification would be Spiritual vs Carnal. There are songs in the christian and secualr spheres which are carnal and ought not to be enjoyed. There should be more songs in the secular sphere which leads people to the correct values, fight against the ungodly agenda and lead people to truth. This will also help us unlock creativity musically speaking. Honestly christian songs of certain genres are really cringe, because the tune of the song does not complement the message of the song. "Christian music" these days are also lacking spiritual values. Very few songs have the same (or at least some) spiritual impact the old hymns had on us. For musicians. Songs, in general ("Christian" or not), if emjoying them slowly leads us away from God, has to be avoided. For most musicians if they actually wanna grow their musical abilities, listening to a wide range of songs across genres will be the only way to get better. Every Contemporary Christian music today owes it to a secular group who came up with the idea first, although the secular groups drew inspiration from the Black Gospel Music in the first place. That's the way it works. But in such cases, care should be taken such that we just listen to them to draw inspiration and not to get carried away by the content of the songs.
I so badly wanted to share this video to a person, who I loved so much, but since that person doesn't want me to do anything in their life I am unable to share this video. But I pray that, she sees this video soon and stop hearing to secular musics to save her soul from doing ungodly things.🥲
