Rewatching this video, and to be honest, one of the best general videos out there for chasing impoundment cod in winter. Well done, Jakko, and thank you for your assistance mate!
Keep up the good work mate . I've been fishing for nearly 5 decades and still learning. I'm coming over from WA in August for 6 weeks of fishing starting at Glenbawn and working my way to the crater lakes of Victoria. I found your videos some of the most informative on RUclips. Hope I can nail one of your cod that we lack over here in the West! Cheers
Just got back from copeton and I will say you were spot on with your tips. Especially the bait!!! 65cm,85cm for myself and my wife smashed it with 91cm then a 101cm.
1st trip to Copeton 4 weeks ago- 113cm in 4 foot of water. Got back from second trip to Copeton this arvo- we got 6 fish 70-95cm. Good times! Thanks for your pointers brother man- real talk!
I've started fishing with swim baits and surface lures and I would like to say thank you for all this info with cod in the winter. I fish blowering and mulwala and I think I have alot to learn to do this type of fishing. Thanks again for a great video
Great points, cheers for sharing. The point about getting to know an area is so spot on. After the first few trips to one of my locals I thought the place must be barren. With plenty of effort I have gradually worked it out a bit better with the Barra sessions getting hotter even as the water cooled. That will teach me lessons for other areas, no doubt.
That's exactly the sort of video's that keeps me motivated to get out there and keep grinding at them, a few fishless trips now but, I wanna get back out there going at them! #supermotivating
Split Rock Dam and Lake Keepit are two great Cod dams in Winter and certainly not to be overlooked, so far I’ve pulled my PB (though not over a meter) of of Keepit.
Would you be able to do a vid on lure weights and techniques for fishing steep banks etc as I’m trying to get my technique down for places like Copeton , cheers bloke.
Yes moon definitely plays a part - more so in benign conditions. Lead-up to moon down (ie lowest elevation) though is by far the go for me. Get on to Geoscience Australia (government) website. Then you’ll discover moon elevation and you’ll become obsessed. Minus 70 degrees or more of elevation and you’ll be beside yourself.
Hey mate, what’s your Thoughts on sounders\finders ? Looking for something under 1k, do you prefer to use Garmin or lowrance and is side scan essential ? Cheers mate love the vids !
There are a lot of waterways close to home for me but the problem for me is finding for a land based spot in a dam because i do not have a boat or a kayak. It’s more easier to fish in an area of a dam if you have a boat but land based anglers, its not that lucky. But I know the time will come soon.
Fuck yes! Mad video👌🏼Cheers mate. Awesome tips for a novice fisho like myself. Actually the best fuckin video. This shit really helps guys like me learn key skills to catching Murray Cod. Legendary 🤙🏼
