Thanks for the great video. Can relate to everything you said. My wife and I also live and work from a 40 ft monohull. I can also confrim It’s hard. My experience is, it’s hard to make living on a boat work if you’re trying to take your full time 40 hour a week salaried job and do it from a boat. Especially if you’re at anchor. Having flexibility in your schedule makes a big difference. Also worth noting you do this with out the proximity of your friends and family. Having only your partner to lean on and share a stressful week can additional stress on your relationship. We often underestimate how much we go to on our friends for perspective and relief from the everyday grind. It’s A LOT to manage on your own. I don’t think we could do it with out a home base to come back for part of the year.

I had a home based office for years. It was difficult to get away from the 'office' just because it was there 24/7. Even if I didn't enter that space. Every time I came 'home' I arrived at my office - even if the door was closed. Your tiny situation adds to the cross-over. However I would do what you're doing in a flash. With good discipline there are wonderful benefits. The negatives can be put in their place - literally. Your office view alone helps with the cramped lifestyle. And a little bit of rocking is atmospheric :) And yes, I would want a slightly larger boat with a permanent work station set up especially where editing and sound recording is involved. I will be doing this in a small rv once I land in Europe later this year. On water time will be my 'pleasure time' away from work.
Y’all are my motivation. I just started investing still trying to find way to make a steady income so I can leave my call center job and sail . Still no major luck but I’m learning how to invest and make few bucks
Its always important to catch some RnR and not work 24/7, trust me - when you get older you might regret not being able to take advantage of the opportunities to explore the places you visit, while you still have that chance. Be safe both of you

I was looking at Starlink for when it's my time to get out there, but the maritime edition is $5000 per month plus the $10,000 for the hardware. Crazy!!! RV edition is about as good as you can get these days so you can change addresses so you get scheduled for access.

Good morning Sphie and Ryan, Have you ever regretted living on a boat full time as you do? I am considering the same but don't need to work anymore, retired at 61 😉
I am curious as to Ryan's company with Dakota Lithium. I have an Beneteau 46 and rewiring my yacht for live aboard traveling like you guys. I am looking for batteries and inverter chargers for my yacht. But most of them come up with Battle Born and Renogy Batteries. I have not seen much or heard much about Dakota. It would be nice to hear and learn more about the company. When i look at the website it has a lot for bass boats, cabins and RV's not much in the way of yachts. Are you guys looking at pushing more into the yacht market?
Hi Ryan, didn't know you were involved with Dakota! I just ordered a lot of them for SV Flying Tigress. BTW I know the CEO of an e-learning company in Tucson, AZ that does a lot of work in the US fortune space. If Sophie would like an introduction, reach out.
Very interesting video. Of course you must realize that you created a partial loop for yourselves. You have to have fast internet so you can work, and you have to work so you can afford the fast internet. I know you want the internet for more than just work, though. :)
By the way Sophie, what Star link line are you looking for and how is it going to work on a boat? We are looking to go full on sailing and working in a similar fashion to you and we are wondering how this starlink could work on a boat. Thanks for your time.
Most of us work on land to meet our expenses and save for retirement with the hope that one day we might buy a sailboat and sail away to some romantic spot. Do you think you both might become burned out on sailing if you didn’t have your work to keep you challenged in other ways? Since you mentioned you have Starlink (not setup yet) I’m sure you’ll give us a review once you have the opportunity. This is a great video for the current status of using Starlink on boats - ruclips.net/video/wh9LN8Kl6uE/видео.html
My main observation after viewing this video is that you obviously are both keeping jobs rather than generating income as RUclips creators! It appears that while others can support themselves through RUclips, Patreon etc. you are trying to juggle it in a way that sailing is not your income generator. The downside that I can see from that which you have actually mentioned yourself Sophie, is that you have little time left to run around explore and discover the places you visit, which those other creators use as an income method and do extensively. The enormous upside of your choice of lifestyle is that you can end you’re sailing adventures and go back to work “normally “ while the others are less flexible.
sophie you guys definately need a cat to balance the work space needed ...definately room for a office..lol...and so much room to walk around and talk on phone for ryan
Hi Guys. I was interested in finding information on the portable laptop stand you are using and did not find it in the links you posted. Can you get me info on this item? Thanks... and fair winds.
Great video guys, me and my wife are nearly ready to start our boating adventure, (same boat as yours LOL). Regards work, I have been fortunate in the stock market (Go tesla) and amassed just over 1mil GBP, we have no mortgage, no dept, no kids. If we rent out our house in the UK we could get around 900gbp per month. I'm 49, wifey is 40. In your opinion would this be enough to float away. we want a simple life, no marinas if poss (only for storm conditions) , cold beers and large shots. My Wife watches all your vids and is flip flopping regards starting. If you guys were in our shoes what advise would you give. I do also have sailing experience. Thanks guys.
Bahaha if Dakota lithium could pay 10%/yr roi I'd sell the house and other assets and jump on my boat and sail off with the family haha (Once it is ready.. just in case someone calls my bluff 🤣🤣)

That much caffeine would have me bouncing off the wall. 😳
I wish I could work that remotely
Most of us work on land to meet our expenses and save for retirement with the hope that one day we might buy a sailboat and sail away to some romantic spot.
Do you think you both might become burned out on sailing if you didn’t have your work to keep you challenged in other ways?
Since you mentioned you have Starlink (not setup yet) I’m sure you’ll give us a review once you have the opportunity. This is a great video for the current status of using Starlink on boats - ruclips.net/video/wh9LN8Kl6uE/видео.html
yes... its true Allan. This is why we are trying to setup a home base so we can take a break.
One litre of coffee :-)! You can take the girl out of France, but you can't take the .... :-)!
There are always pros and cons of everything
@@RyanSophieSailing Good to know!
sophie you guys definately need a cat to balance the work space needed ...definately room for a office..lol...and so much room to walk around and talk on phone for ryan
Clearly its what we need :)
Thanks for sharing! What size Takacat is that? We just picked up a 300LX.
its a 300
We have ‘work days’ and try to limit these to 2.5 days per week.
Thank you!,,,
love it.)))
I'm just guessing that Ryan is NOT a morning person! LOL
actually i am.!
@@RyanSophieSailing Getting up early and being ready to go early aren't the same thing! HAHA
Which starlink did you get? The Srarlink RV? I was looking at Starlink, but the MARINE one is sooo expensive.
Yes, the Rv link
You should add T-shirts. PUT PITB
Sounds equitable to me.
How do you save for retirement? Do you?if not, what is your retirement plan?
Business on top party at the bottom 😂
If I was a retired person do I have to work like you and Ryan to live on a sailboat ?
No.. there are a lot of retirees on yachts.
A great insight. But it applies not just to sailors. But anyone who wants to work with more flexibility. Space is a problem for everyone.
Hi Guys.
I was interested in finding information on the portable laptop stand you are using and did not find it in the links you posted. Can you get me info on this item?
Thanks... and fair winds.

@@RyanSophieSailing Thank you so much.
Amazing! Congrats
Once again, Ryan redefines taciturn.
What was your actual aviation job?
Ryan was a pilot in the Air Guard
Very good! I flew for about 30 years. I miss it a little...but not the wind or weather...wound up with 4500tt and 3500 SNJ...enough...
Reality meets fantasy, who knew it takes Franc & $.
Bahaha if Dakota lithium could pay 10%/yr roi I'd sell the house and other assets and jump on my boat and sail off with the family haha
(Once it is ready.. just in case someone calls my bluff 🤣🤣)
Looks more foxes than raccoon
😘😄
