I always loved portable versions of games like this and hate the idea that they're some kind of port when they're often essentially demakes or completely different games! Banjo, Conker, a lot of third party licensed games got handheld versions that only shared the name! Great vid!
Feel the same as you about Croc and Croc 2. First played it on a demo disc when my dad got us a PS1 in 1995, and was blown away by the graphics… but even back then it felt kinda ‘cold’ and kinda semi-empty as a game in some weird way. But they’re pure nostalgia for me now, top 10 PS1 games just from the memories playing them as a kid. I’ve always been way more interested in graphics than gameplay though, so aside from Pokemon blue/red/yellow, these basic sidescrollers just never interested me till stuff like the GBA started releasing pseudo-3D and more impressive looking stuff.
It’s a shame how the remastered version got delayed to 2025! It was originally meant to come out this month in December but I can’t say I’m surprised as Argonaut Games went silent for a fair while too. Definitely looking forward to it overall! I even replayed the PS1 version recently for comparison too.
Quite personally I’ve never been the biggest fan of the game boy colour at all. I honestly much prefer the game boy advance. That was an awesome handheld I think!

@zombizzle_ i totally agree with that. The gameboy color has a lot of "ports" but are standalone games. Thank you for watching 😀

I’ve never played this version of Croc at all. I don’t think I ever will but good to get some insight on it overall.

@BrennySpain that does goes suck it's taking a while. Maybe they will make sure it is polished enough once it's comes out next year.
@ yeah it’s only been delayed to Q1 of 2024 so hopefully we don’t have to wait too much longer.
