I love the Alpha hands on that Tissot Chemin des Tourelles. My skinny wrist loves that compact lug-to-lug too! It looks like a cleaned up and specced out Orient Bambino.
My 3 favorite watches in my collection are my Christopher Ward C63 Trident Pro 300 40mm white dial, Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 black dial and Seiko Presage cocktail time blue moon. If I had to only keep 3 out my 10, those are my picks. Would like to see more CW mentioned on your videos. They are excellent for the price, especially the new bracelets with quick adjust.
I have a collection that is all Seiko, although I have more than three. I didn't intentionally start out with that in mind, it just kind of happened. I will say that watching Teddy's videos definitely influenced me, but ultimately I buy what I like. SNM035 Land Monster diver. This guy is about 15 years old and has been rebuilt twice by Seiko. SPB119 white face Alpinist SNK807 and SNZG07J1 Seiko 5 Sport. One or both of these may be JDM watches. SRPE05 Turtle diver with green waffle dial. SSC817 Golden Panda Speedtimer chrono with gold dial. I've seen the white model face called The Sietona.
Tissot a d Certina have the best value for the money. They use the exact same movements as Longines and Oris but cost less than half the price. Sure, an oris has a slightly better finish, but not a $1500 better finish.
Loving the Seiko picks and that you’ve covered everything from entry level to more upper mid! For fans of the SNK800 series field watch, I think Seiko today announced the SRPJ87 and 89 which bring back the pilot-esque dial design at 36mm in reflective(?) champagne and green. Really great looking pieces at about 290
My watch collection so far: Seiko SPB121J. I got a military green nylon strap and let me tell you I can wear this watch basically for any occasion. It is really good-looking and versatile. On top of that, the time deviation Seiko says -15+20 secs a day, not even close. I had mine for a few months now, and it does 5 seconds a day consistently. I love it.
I just put together a 3-watch collection with those exact same brands. It was a fun endeavor and I pretty much had the watches that you selected. I've chosen a Seiko for the "SPORTS", Hamilton - "CASUAL" and Tissot for "DRESS". I love the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 but would make it my dress piece. Nice video.
Thanks much to Teddy, my first Swiss auto was the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80. Also, I think the Chemin misses the dressy mark with the white date window. Color matched would have been more appropriate IMO
Hallo teddy, actually after you showed the tissot prx I went and bought it with the olive dial, combined it with elegant olive color cloth and handbag, and jewelry, and now people tell me what a elegant watch 😊, so thank you and as always love from Switzerland 🇨🇭
My current collection in the order they were purchased. Seiko "Turtle" (Blk dial and bezel), the watch I wear everyday at work as a welder. Seiko "Land Tortoise" (blue), one of the most under rated Seikos imo) Tissot Gentlemen (green), Tissot PRX (blue), Tissot Seastar (Blk ceramic bezel, blue to black gradient dial)
I like what you have done. What do you think of: Tissot PRX I think Blue Seiko King Turtle Special Edition E55 Hamilton on Khaki Field 42M Titanium Blue Dial
The tissot chemin des tourelles blue dial with leather is amazing 👏🏼, on another note I have the SRPE37 and as a daily watch it fits into a lot of situations with just a simple strap change. Amazing video Teddy!
The Tissot Gentleman is a great watch, but completely agree on the metal band. It scratches easily and borders on hot garbage, definitely recommend the leather strap.
Although I have too many watches in my collection my “go to” 3 watch collection is a Rolex Date Just 41 jubilee fluted bezel blue stick dial, Tudor GMT Pepsi but on the leather strap and a Tissot Seastar 2000 aqua dial.. I wear each one depending on the occasion. Another awesome video Teddy.. 👍
Swatch is my first Swiss watch. (Still have it, and works fine) Made a mistake with a Diesel. Have a Garmin fēnix 3hr. And now two Tissot watches. A PRS 516 and a Seastar 40.
@@mjv40 I’m hoping with their recent revamping of certain watches like the Scuba, they push the Field Mechanical up to 100m water resistance with screw down crowns and some AR. That would be perfect in my opinion. I love Hamilton.
wearing the murph now and damn it is a really beautiful watch. My Hamilton dream collection would be Murph, Elvis80 metal strap and the Quartz Pulsar red display stainless steel color
I love this video and love thinking about 3 watch collections. You hit the nail on the head with the three brands you selected. If you included 3 more brands, I think Timex, Baltic, and longines are interesting options. Timex: marlin, Navi scuba xl, weekender chronograph Baltic: MR01, aquascaphe, bicompax Longines: big eye, conquest, several dress options
Love the video, I’m new to collecting and was very insightful! I would love to see one just like this with maybe Tag Heuer, or Tudor with the more affordable price point
The Intra-matic is the most interesting to me because I'm over obsessed (redundancy, anyone?) with accuracy in a mechanical watch. This one doesn't have a second hand that I usually check every couple of hours to see if the watch is running fast or slow, and well, I really need to get over that.
What are your opinions about Certina? I can see that you haven’t really featured any of their watches if I am correct, how is it compared to say Tissot?
The Tissot Gentleman in a blue dial is the only watch that I own that is featured in this video. I do like the look of the Seiko Alpinist, but will most likely never get one. Hamilton is on my radar for a near future purchase.
Thank you for this video, always a lot insights about watch culture. I would love to know what you think about Accutron’s Legacy collection, hopefully I’ll find a video about it on your channel soon.
No doubt! One of the nicest looking divers in its price range….it’s a Shane the movement couldn’t be more accurate, but it does have that X factor that makes it hard to let go!
Man, you sure ding that Tissot Gentleman bracelet (like every time you mention it); but I think it’s a solid, very nice bracelet. In fact, with mine, I prefer it over so much over the straps I’ve tried that I just keep it on the bracelet.
As a Tissot fanboy, I like the PRC 200, Seastar 36 mm, and the Gentleman. Kind of disappointed that the current generation of PRC 200 has been relegated to chronographs only because I'm a huge fan of their basic 3-hand models. I am very slowly warming up to the PRX, and it will eventually be a new addition.
100% if my current collection is made up of Alpinists and I LOVE the mentions of them in so many of your videos. Great start to my Friday - and great video as always Teddy.
Glad to see another Alpinist lover here. Have a favourite model? By the way, It seems like Teddy doesn't like our beloved Alpinist so much, but for sure he shows respect. It was really heart-warming to see how Kevin O'Leary appreciated it.
After watching many of your videos, I have finally subscribed! I enjoy your videos and find them so educational and interesting! Although my budget will never allow me to spend more than $200 for a single watch, I view all of these watches as works of art that I can admire and appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship! And who knows…if I ever come into more money down the road, I have a better knowledge of what I would like to buy. Thank you!
I was obsessed with the gentlemen model for awhile. I finally went out to go see it in person and i did not like how it wore at all. I have a smaller wrist and it just doesn’t sit right for me.
Yeah, I'll go with the number 3. But make it 3 in each of the 3 categories. Nine is a collection, 3 is not, it is, make-do utility. One watch, is an appliance.
The Seiko SPB is a very cool watch, but I will also consider the king samurai Black Manta Ray edition, is cheaper and a really cool watch, though is on the bigger side compared to the SPB
I would have recommended the Hamilton Ventura as the dress option for Hamilton. It catches the eye and acts as a conversation piece when you're out for dinner due to the unique case shape.
this would be a cool idea, especially if you did this with the same brands but had to hit some more sleeper picks! Watches from the brand that arent in the spotlight so much, focusing on lesser known watches from each brand.
Teddy, all throughout the video you observe that a watch wears smaller or larger then its diameter based on its lug to lug length. Can you explain when does a watch wear larger or smaller? Is there a ratio you use?
Another great way of looking at watches and how to build a collection that makes you smile! I have a Tissot and love wearing it in the summer because of it's Nato style band. Those Hamilton watches that are shown in this video are incredible pieces. Well done Teddy.
For my collection, I'm trying to stay away from multiple watches from the same brand. I don't have a ton of money, so I want to sample as much as I can from different makers and countries. But like you said, this is just a discussion, so great info anyways!
excellent video... I would love to see you argue with yourself... and present a 3000 dollar multi-use watch that could replace the collection of 3... I love my PRX as a daily, but instead of getting 2 or 3 more of this tier, I'm saving for something a little more special.
First watch was the tissot prx next watch is going to be either the Hamilton Murph because I love interstellar or the jazzmaster performer not sure just yet
@teddy, Your content really is helpful. In my particular case, I would find a guide where the brand(s) considered are a tier above. e.g., something where the budget is $1000 to $3000 a piece. I would love to know which brand you believe fall into that. In addition - what would you believe is the best "small" men's gmt. I seem to struggle to find something different than the previous generations rolex explorer 2. Which in this case, would cover the whole budget of a $10k 3 watch collection.
1,000 to 3,000 I would say Longines is the best. Best “small GMT” Tudor Black Bay Pro. Best 3 watch collection for 10k I’d say Tudor BB Pro (Sport) Longines Spirit (Daily / GADA) and Longines Master Collection 190th anniversary (Dress) and maybe you have a couple hundred bucks to buy a G Shock as a brave beater. Hope this helps.
I know it makes more sense to combine different brands. However, in each of those categories I find the Tissot most appealing. I’m not a huge fan of diving watches, but the seastar is a nice watch. Then of course the gentleman and the PRX are super nice sporty everyday watches and the Chemin des Tourelles is such a good classic looking watch.
Very nice video again Teddy! This video reminded me of my first true mechanical watch which is Hamilton field 38 with old Eta movement. I got it for myself after my first salary in my first real job, that's why it is so special to me. Hamilton produced lots of many other watches after that watch, but to me that old field mechanical with eta movement is always the best. Keep up the good work!
PLEASE please please don’t buy any Seiko with a 7S, 4R, or 6R movement, and mineral glass. They are all just junk hyped up by rabid youtubers trying to hawk their online stores at the ‘low end affordable range’. Save up, get a real movement and real quality materials. This isn’t the 1970’s, plastic and mineral glass with +/- 1 minute a day with misaligned chapter rings, bent crown stems, and really noisy rotors you can hear from across the room are NOT acceptable today. For 300-500 buy a Casio. Oh, and did I mention that those movements aren’t hacking? Just unacceptable. Save, get their high end quartz, or the GS line of auto or high beat movements. A decent one can run 1-2k. Stop buying or recommending their Walmart jewelry counter tier.
Pretty new into the watch world and I fell in love with the Hamilton Murph. However, not sure if I need 38mm or 42mm. I have an 8” wrist. Can someone give me clarity please?
Apologies,…but I would have to blend. Seiko King Turtle, Tissot PRX and Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium. I’m struggling to leave the Seiko Alpinist out of that rotation.
Yet another outstanding video Teddy! I love seeing all the different brands that fall in the level of attainable for me. Also dangerous as makes me want them all.
What i chose to do with my collection is to go 1 of each of these brands, then save up for the omega speedmaster racing, then the omega worldtimerwith the globe on it. After that, idk what my next goal will be cuz the worldtimer will take a while, but thats my collection. The actual watches are a grewn dial seiko chronograph , a hamilton field khaki, and tissot prx/gentleman
Decent recommendations for the various price points. Though I wouldn't wear any of these watches when playing sports. Maybe a fourth watch in this collection is merited to wear in rough situations. I know you've mentioned watches like the G-Shock in the past. Are there others you would recommend to add to a collection? I play sports and workout on a regular basis and I don't want stain leather straps with sweat or get dirt and scratches on bracelets. So maybe a good looking watch with a silicon/rubber strap? I don't have a G-Shock so I'm leaning in that direction but was hoping for something a little more interesting. Thanks.
I'd like to see one tier up: Oris, Longines, Sinn, and Tudor
Oris 💀 Sinn 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You should do this with ultra budget brands. Casio and timex come to mind. Casio especially would be interesting.
Casio duro (dive), casioak (everyday), Casio tank (dress). Now you have all the iconic watches at an affordable price.
Yeah, I'll go with the number 3. But make it 3 in each of the 3 categories. Nine is a collection, 3 is not, it is, make-do utility. One watch, is an appliance.

You seem to read my mind Teddy. Just assembled: Hamilton Pilot Pioneer, Seiko GMT and Citizen Challenge Diver. Tissot Gentleman is next.
Seiko also makes a lovely tank style watch to fit that dress watch role.
My next watch will likely be the Tissot Gentleman or Tissot PRX. Haven't had either on my wrist yet.
Wouldn’t you rather have a single watch that can fit all three occasions with the budget of the three combined?
I would have recommended the Hamilton Ventura as the dress option for Hamilton. It catches the eye and acts as a conversation piece when you're out for dinner due to the unique case shape.
this would be a cool idea, especially if you did this with the same brands but had to hit some more sleeper picks! Watches from the brand that arent in the spotlight so much, focusing on lesser known watches from each brand.

Thanks.
I have a Nato band on one of my watches for both the hot summer wear and to workout/yard work wear. Maybe that's something you could consider.
@@c.f.g.2837 Thanks. I'm a new collector so not familiar with this band but I'll look into it.
Can’t go wrong with a Seiko 5 sports!
Personally i have the Milanese strap and cream dial 😍 (SRPE75K1)
I will never understand why Tissot decide to put the name of movement on the dial!
This could be put on the back.
Looks weird to have it on the dial
