I just put together a 3-watch collection with those exact same brands. It was a fun endeavor and I pretty much had the watches that you selected. I've chosen a Seiko for the "SPORTS", Hamilton - "CASUAL" and Tissot for "DRESS". I love the Tissot Gentleman Powermatic 80 but would make it my dress piece. Nice video.

My 3 favorite watches in my collection are my Christopher Ward C63 Trident Pro 300 40mm white dial, Tissot PRX Powermatic 80 black dial and Seiko Presage cocktail time blue moon. If I had to only keep 3 out my 10, those are my picks. Would like to see more CW mentioned on your videos. They are excellent for the price, especially the new bracelets with quick adjust.

I just did this with Seiko, I got two presages instead of going the SKX route. The Blue Japanese Garden dial, and the gold accented white dial with black bezel. I also found the seiko 5 field black dial with gold indices and that is the “beater” of the three. Wouldn’t have done a “single brand” start without Teddy’s gleaming reviews of seiko watches with their robust movements coupled with my own modest tastes with regard to style. Thank you Teddy! Very nice video again Teddy! This video reminded me of my first true mechanical watch which is Hamilton field 38 with old Eta movement. I got it for myself after my first salary in my first real job, that's why it is so special to me. Blue dial, bezel and strap, all around a really nice watch. Add a milgauss black face with the orange quarters, and a meistersinger Phanero, a gem of a watch, grey dial red indices and a highly polished rice grain style SS strap. Manual wind, size from the last century, light as a feather. A complete contrast to the Magrette. These are the watches I travel with. A lot of colour, all very different.

I know it makes more sense to combine different brands. However, in each of those categories I find the Tissot most appealing. I’m not a huge fan of diving watches, but the seastar is a nice watch. Then of course the gentleman and the PRX are super nice sporty everyday watches and the Chemin des Tourelles is such a good classic looking watch.

@teddy, Your content really is helpful. In my particular case, I would find a guide where the brand(s) considered are a tier above. e.g., something where the budget is $1000 to $3000 a piece. I would love to know which brand you believe fall into that.
In addition - what would you believe is the best "small" men's gmt. I seem to struggle to find something different than the previous generations rolex explorer 2. Which in this case, would cover the whole budget of a $10k 3 watch collection.

    • @Rodolfoguerra12

1,000 to 3,000 I would say Longines is the best. Best “small GMT” Tudor Black Bay Pro. Best 3 watch collection for 10k I’d say Tudor BB Pro (Sport) Longines Spirit (Daily / GADA) and Longines Master Collection 190th anniversary (Dress) and maybe you have a couple hundred bucks to buy a G Shock as a brave beater. Hope this helps.

Decent recommendations for the various price points. Though I wouldn't wear any of these watches when playing sports. Maybe a fourth watch in this collection is merited to wear in rough situations. I know you've mentioned watches like the G-Shock in the past. Are there others you would recommend to add to a collection? I play sports and workout on a regular basis and I don't want stain leather straps with sweat or get dirt and scratches on bracelets. So maybe a good looking watch with a silicon/rubber strap? I don't have a G-Shock so I'm leaning in that direction but was hoping for something a little more interesting. Thanks.

Nice video!! One question, what do you think of the Hamilton Khaki Aviation Converter Auto? I have never seen a comment from you about that watch and I have doubts about buying it. Thank you so much

I would have recommended the Hamilton Ventura as the dress option for Hamilton. It catches the eye and acts as a conversation piece when you're out for dinner due to the unique case shape.

I like the premise of this video. How about starting a series where you take a brand new collector and guide them in developing a comprehensive collection over time taking into account the past recommendations you've made. Maybe some of this information already exists in some of your videos. If so, them maybe you can compile those videos into a series where you can recommend the best order to watch them for that beginning collector or for the seasoned collector who might have "lost" their way and needs a refresher course. It would be a great resource and make it much easier to get new collectors started. If I could send a link to a friend and tell them view this series on how to start and grow a watch collection, I know it could go a long way to get people interested in watch collecting.
As you've mentioned in other videos, there are so many sites now on watches that it's somewhat overwhelming so then people don't even bother getting started. Also, not all of the information out there is good so that is an issue too. It's also very important to know what to avoid as a collector. You've earned a great and trustworthy reputation so I would be completely confident in recommending a series on watch collecting from you. I guess I would see this series like a course(s) in a school. Sorry for the long comment. Thanks

That SRPE37 also has a ceramic bezel. Your team should also research and get the SRPH97/ SBDY119. You'll have a blast with it, Teddy!

Great video Teddy! The brands you chose for this video are perfect for a 3 watch collection at this price point! In my personal 3 watch collection I have the Hamilton Khaki Field for my everyday and the Tissot Le Locle with a black strap for dress. As I tend to dress up more often than most guys, for my 3rd watch I went with a Mondaine Evo2, but changed the strap to an ostrich strap in dark brown as I wanted a watch to wear with brown shoes as I wear my Le Locle with black shoes. A somewhat unusual choice, but it’s become my favorite of the 3.

As I don’t currently have a watch with a bracelet, I’m considering that for my 4th. Thinking about an Oris Big Crown or a Sinn which, of course, both would be next tier up. Although the Tissot Gentleman is hard to beat for the price as is the Seiko Speedtimer.

What are your opinions about Certina? I can see that you haven’t really featured any of their watches if I am correct, how is it compared to say Tissot?

Seiko Spb143, Hamilton Intra matic and Tissot Gentleman is a killer 3 watch collection for < $5k.
