I was trying to finish my knife but I broke my finger half way through the project can I still send the knife photo in once I finish it? Great looking knifes from everyone.

Hey, Jeremy and fellow knifemakers! I bought a knife from you back in 2020. Not sure if you remember me, but I bought the bushcraft knife in s35vn with cocobolo scales, you made a video on it. It was my pride and joy, I used it for everything and it was incredibly reliable. Unfortunately, it is now unusable due to unfortunate circumstances I'll go into later because it's a crazy story. long story short it was in a structure that was burned to the ground in a wildfire. The building was completely gone and as far as I can tell the knife was the only thing salvaged from it. My question is, can I get it reheat-treated and have my knife back? or is it now a paperweight with a cool story?
I used it pretty much every backpacking trip/Outdoor excursion since. Anyway in August of 2023, we had a wildfire burn through our community. As a member of our local POC fire department, I was part of the effort to fight it. Our community hadn't had a wildfire in around 50 years so there was plenty of fuel to make it a big one. So on the day it came through we didn't have much choice other than to pull back for a few hours until the fire moved through. In the confusion, the backpack I had with me was mistakenly thrown into the neighbouring town firehall which burned to the ground before I had time to locate it. I lost about 3k worth of gear (including my knife) because I made the grave misjudgment that my gear was safer with me than at home.
I'm not complaining because miraculously no one was killed in the month we spent on that wildfire and the acts of selflessness and valour are something that will stick with me until the day that I die. I was talking to a fellow firefighter and certified solid dude about my knife because that was the only thing in my bag that could not be replaced. He looked at me and completely seriously told me that he was going to find my knife. I told him that was BS and that he wasn't going to find it. But a few days later he brought my knife to me. He said that once he told the neighbouring fire department about my knife they spent several of their precious personal hours combing through their halls wreckage looking for my knife. They found it. These legendary human beings took the time to look for something very special to me and found it! I will forever be grateful to everyone who helped during that fire and am hoping to be able to fix the blade so I can have something to show for it!
    Thanks in advance
    Reese!

I see no reason why it couldn't be fixed up! I'm sure Jeremy would love to do it but if he doesn't have time myself or any number of custom knifemakers wouldn't find it too difficult

@@FfUbeamz That would be awesome! Thanks for the input! Someone told me I may be able to make some Micarta out of the firehose used during the fire and that might be cool to use for the scales. Do you have any experience with Micarta and how it may turn out? I want the knife durable above all else, I just thought it might be cool!

@reesetremblay1452 absolutely firehose micarta is amazingly tough. I've never used it personally but I know people that have and they love it. I'd imagine it wouldn't be too hard for you to make

Pro tip (not that I'm a pro but Neil kamimura is and that's where I learned it) when putting in bevels on a curve like that, break the platen in half and use just the edge of the platen.
