Merry Xmas to a beautiful person and her supportive husband! Thank you for all the great and informative work you do! You are making our travel plans so much easier ❤❤
Recommendations for if you return to the north east coast- Whitley Bay: lovely beach, St Mary’s lighthouse where you can see seals, Spanish City, and a pretty town with interesting independent shops (check out Keel Row and The Bound bookshops) and some really great cafes/restaurants (I recommend Babushka’s and Room 305) Marsden: beautiful, dramatic coastal landscape, and a pub called the Marsden Grotto which is built into the cliffs on the beach and has an interesting past with smugglers Tynemouth: I think you have already been there, but do go back on a Saturday or Sunday for the market, which is held in the metro station! Great video, thank you for doing the north east justice 😊
I love Robin Hood's Bay, it's such a picturesque place! and few lovely hikes! Scarborough on the other hand.... To this day I cannot understand the obsession a lot of people around me seem to have 🤔🤨, on my "not worth the time" list this one is quite high 😶🌫
Read Dracula back in high school but I've been binge watching a bunch of Scottish / British travel RUclips videos these past few months so I only properly learned about Whitby a few months ago, and also only learned about Slain Castle- the "real" Castle Dracula- outside Aberdeen. I need to visit both places now.
Big up North East! Im from Darlington and part of our leavers celebrations in Primary School, we went to Lindisfarne and walked over the causeway. Id also recommend the Farne Islands near Bamburgh as a day out. Great boat trip to Longstone lighthouse and learn about Grace Darling, I think theres also Puffins on the islands too.
Boy did you get lucky with the weather. Gorgeous part of the world. 'Past grandeur' is a lovely way to describe any number of British season resorts. Still rather fond of Scarborough, though
Hi Kat. My favourite walk to & from Dunstanburgh Castle is from Low Newton as it takes in the wonderful beaches of Low Newton & Embleton Bay. The Ship Inn at Low Newton is a lovely wee pub too with the village green overlooking the sea. Also, try a boat ride to the Farne Islands out of Seahouses. Its always a memorable experience and we've nearly always seen dolphins en route which is awesome 😊
The Northumberland Coast is the best coastline in the UK with the most castles, the start of Christianity in the UK, where the Vikings first landed and of course has Hadrian's Wall and the stunning Northumberland National Park.
Whitby is amazing. Only spent a few hours there, but the fish and chips were delicious. Wanted to take more pictures of the abbey, but it started raining hard so we fled.
This was AMAZING, Kat! You are not alone in the Dracula fandom, at all! It’s one of my favorite novels of all time(the Gary Oldman is of course my favorite of the film adaptations), and I’ve been obsessed with the actual history of the House Dracul all my life. Very excited to go all over Whitby! ^.^ Scarborough, too, though, I’m really interested in early 19th century history in that area, given I have a theory about some niche famous historical figures possibly having fled there. >.> I was really happy to see the one castle flying the Pride Flag! But curious as to why that was?
There’s a goth festival that happens twice a year, I wanted to read the book while enjoying the view there on the centenary of the dates of the diary in the novel, because I missed those dates I never got round to visiting, my loss
I live about an hour's drive from Whitby, love, love, love Whitby, can't make up my mind between Whitby and grassholme reservoir where I'm gonna be scattered after being burnt to ashes ⚱️
Holy crap that was a bit of a leap !!! Warkworth to Whitby , Bloody Hell you missed out nearly all of Northumberland , sorry Missus but that is not forgivable .
Hello Kakibot, how are you? 🤔 I'm from London, England 🏴 here & I enjoy watching your videos of beautiful sites over in Scotland 🏴 which I'll be visiting soon!! Thank you for sharing!
There's a lot of history in Whitby - the Synod of Whitby by which the way to calculate Easter was agreed, the Viking raids, St Mary's Church, Captain James Cook RN, Dracula, the Goth weekends (one has just gone - around Hallowe'en). And the fish+chips. Great beer at several pubs (& live music at The Station pub opposite - you've guessed it - the Railway Station. A heritage steam railway from there to Pickering with its castle! Worth more than a day, is Whitby! @@Kakibot
Remember that there is ZERO proof any god exists and on that alone a visit to Holy Island wouldn't be top of my list to do in the North East UK. Each to their own .
Was not expecting a Forza reference but I'm here for it!

You’re not “British “ you’re a black man pretending to be British 😅
the current abbey (whitby) wasnt ravished by danes....but by idealists eg Henrys men.
Aaah you’re right!! It was the original monastery that got Daned Up 🫥

The bench was erected after the death of Stoker. So he hasn't sat on it.

Lol - so there's no reason to visit unless you believe in God? Do you just crackk yourself up all the time with nonsense comments like this? 😅
