Time to buy a F550, and build the best of both worlds. More space than both of your current options. Also would go off road places you never thought was possible. Would make a epic build too.
Why don't some of you and your closest van friends buy a small piece of property together and have a permanent place to park? Build laundry mat, grow a garden, and flowers and film it all. We'd love to watch that. Could still take trips occasionally but have a homestead. Each could have their own area.
The price of land here is astronomical. Plus you would need to find land with the correct zoning for such an idea, and if you can find that for sale, its even higher cost than astronomical lol. It really is super pricey on the island :(
@@Makeitbymandy idk about where you’re at but where I’m at you can find that HOWEVER, the ones that are cheap have a lot of rock, which as anyone who’s built before knows Rocky soil costs extra to build on, so even if he did manage to buy that and got unlucky enough to have Rocky soil, that just jumped the cost up even more
Chrome, I have been with you since day one. My husband of fifty years had passed away the year prior. I wasn't interested in living. I just wanted to die too. Your videos were the first thing I was interested in. I could hardly wait to see the next one and I still can't. I'm so grateful to you Chrome. Believe me, I would be living in a van if I wasn't disabled. I have seen how hard you have worked for what you have. You deserve to live in whatever you want to. I am a very sentimental person. I love your old van but you have to follow your heart. Your fans will be here watching you no matter what you live in. New adventures, new memories. But one more thing Chrome, 50 is just a number. Don't live the rest of your life looking at the numbers. I'm in my 70's now and your body will change with time. It's good to see you preparing for that. You are a very smart man. Your soul is so beautiful. You help anyone in need that you can. Do whatever makes you happy. You deserve your time with Danica this Christmas. Enjoy her and hold her close. Merry Christmas to you and Cruzie, Danica, Emily, Amanda and all the rest..... Chrome I love you and so do many others ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤✌️✌️🎄🎄🎄🎁🚐🚑
You spent all those years getting out of debt. at 50 do you really want to go back, when Cocoa-Pops hit it was the year I retired, then found out I had Parkinson's I thought my life was over, I raced at a very high level for a living, no other job, all ways stuck in the lime light, then age hit & had trouble dealing with it, I thought all I have left is to sit on the couch & die. Then I found your channel, you changed my life, traded my gull wing BMW straight across for a 4X4 Van, lifted it, did a bunch of work & never looked back, anyways getting back to it, finish the Beast properly, stay in your van, until it's done, take it from someone over 60 don't go back into debt, you have the right people in your life to finish it the right way, but that's just me, it's your life, but I owe you a big Thank-you, you helped me save my life, gave me a new way of living, Van-Life & I never looked back, just remember if you take the plunge things can change, & then what, I hate to say it, we're not young, but you have to follow your heart, I know, I did my whole life, good or bad, but would not change a thing, Good Luck Buddy !

New van will be like getting a new apartment with fresh new views everyday. Longer adventures and higher elevations. Your living space is super tiny and you made it 8 years. Imagine new taller longer wider van fresh interior.
Chrome it's the van that's bothering you. I drove a regular van for 5yrs doing hot shot freight I was getting tired of it after 5yrs then my boss bought a new dodge sprinter high for van I was able to stand up . Now iv been at it ten yrs got a new 2025 Ford high top Van . Go for the new build in a high top you will love it
Long time watcher, first time commenter….. I think if you have something you can stand in with a whole new look it may make you feel better. You were so stoked when you rented that one camper van.
Ambulance is to large for the off roading you want to do it's that simple. Your other van is not 4x4 and it's simple that's what you want so just keep one for the shop and sell the ambulance and buy that van you want .
I’ve Lived in a Jeep Liberty for a year, I bought a cargo trailer and converted it and lived in it for five years, I’m in a old motel on rte 66 for a year. I don’t know if I want a house, condo, apartment, motorhome or a travel trailer. I’m 62 in seven months and not sure what I want. It must be in the air buddy! Take care!

Chrome, it was late summer of 21 when we met and you mentioned two goals. You've achieved both. After you define and refine this new goal, you'll get it. 😉 keep talking it out to figure it out.
I owned a transit, shortie and wasn’t happy with the fact that the walls were slanted. Should have gone with the promaster which has flat wall construction. Chose wisely my friend.
Bob Wells (cheaprvliving) bought land and downsized to a Subaru on which he still camps and road trips. He recently posted a video about it. We humans do crave stability with time.
I can see you building out your 4 wheel drive Ambulance and driving up the Dempster highway all the way to the Artic Ocean . That would be an awesome adventure
You deserve to stand up. As we get older certain things are just harder on us...and kneeling all the time cannot be easy. I hope u get a home that provides you the comfort you deserve.
I dig it Chrome. There are days like that. They quickly go away then we go back into routine. Glad to see you are upbeat. A well rested night is sometimes all it takes. ~Ricky
Yes dude! Your van is already done and would be a GREAT rental. You have an awesome shop space where you can make a new build possible. Think about the new content (and potential sponsors)!! I feel it would be a great shift for your life.
I like the idea of a hightop van. The older we get the harder it is to crawl around on one's knees. Turning your old van into a new revenue stream would be a great idea. There will always still be maintenance and upkeep to make sure that the renters don't get stuck out on the trail.
New van. The current van you love always surprises you on the road with big repair bills. It probably needs to be run less and used as an auxiliary vehicle that you can rent out, loan out and occasionally take out again yourself. A new van you can stand up in would really help your back!!!!!
Chrome, build out a Ford E series cutaway and building an expedition box for it. The 7.3 Godzilla engine is a beast. Or just finish the ambulance. Unless you're thinking of getting a Transit for R and D project for Vantoys.
Buy a new/certified transit that way you wouldn't have to deal with the rust issues for a long time. I would even go with the extended transit to give you longer counter/cabinet space. You could even add a cassette toilet in the van
The only thing I have to say is... DO IT! Even if it has to be a used model, just rent out the van you are living in now and that should pay for the payments on a the new rig. Just my thoughts and I am excited to see wherever you go with your channel! Super jealous of the Van life, I really want to get into it but I am raising a little autistic boy by myself. I'm over on the mainland in Ladner so one Day I'll make the trip out to see you and buy some merch in person. Keep up the great work my dude! Loving the content!
To fix the "dog dish issue", pull the tray back off, run a bead of silicone caulk around the outside edge of the bottom of the dog bowl holder, then place a sheet of clear plastic wrap down on the floor and out the tray on top of it to let the silicone cure. Once it's cured, pull the plastic wrap off and now you have a DIY seal to keep dirt and grime from getting under it. You could also use a thin piece of foam window insulation if you don't mind having that show.
Get a new Van, Chrome. You can rent out your old one, make some extra cash. Build up the new one and see if you can make a HUGE profit by showcasing what your shop offers. If you can't sell the new one for a gain, enjoy in the fact that you have a new home amd keep it!!! You deserve it bro. We all support your journey👊😎

I moved from different vehivles to my Transit just to be able to stand after I reached the age where my body didn't think it was feasible (safe) to be in cramped vehicle. No regrets
Chrome is having the 7 YEAR ITCH. This old van used to be the love of his life but now he wants something newer, nicer and taller ... lol. Go for it man ! Cos i am also bored with your old set up lol Matthew in Van Life Plus is also moving into sticks & bricks in 2025. Change is in the Air. Exciting !!!
i think the current van should be retired, parted out.I don't feel that it's relialbe any longer. If you rented it out, that might not go so well. The new transit trails are nice.
I just bought a Transit. Not new, but was well taken care of, no rust. High top, and I love it! Mine is white, but sure do like that gray one in your vid. You could still go bahaing every so often in the ambulance once it's finished. Or even your current one when no one is renting it, if you actually decide to rent it out. Get a Transit!
Have you seen the Van that "Living the Van Life" has. It's a shorty high top Mercedes sprinter lifted 4x4 with a locker in the rear. He takes that thing into some of roughest back country roads. Check it out...
Decide what you want the most!! It's your life!!! You'll need a newer van very soon!! Just allow yourself the freedom to decide them get a move on!! The ambo could well become a great rental. You don't want to go backwards into debt. We'll support your decisions but with plenty of advice!!! Cruz will love anything as long as you're there!! Have a wonderful Christmas and wide down!!! A Merry Christmas to All fellow Weirdos and your Furry companions!!!!😁😉😊😊
Chrome , that high top transit is on your mind since you've rented that one when your econoline broke down . Just do it . On the other hand , we have 31 transits in the company i work for and they are not the best vans out there . We also have 5 older sprinters and they drive much better are bigger and more comfortable in my opinion.
Rental van could be a pain during breakdowns / repairs / refunds. So rather than have shop van, your van, ambulance and whatever new van strip it down to two. One main living van and one to throw around yourself in the back country.
Bro do it ! Just make it happen like you do everything else. It’s time to get off your knees dude no pun intended hahaha. You a pro you do it whether you get a transit or use the ambo , I don’t think it’s a mistake to get a new ride and make it special. Just do it! 😅
Since your income stream is anchored to your bouncing around the woods, I would be cautious about making such a major change until the new business is stable.
Either a small box truck cutaway recent used, build it yourself or build a box on a hd pickup truck built as a stake truck. Keep it make do , do it yourself.
Come on Chrome. Admit it you'd probably get bored if you got a Transit and it was just a pavement princess palace only. It would eventually have a Rhino lining paint job, bush bumpers, and all the off road accessories. We see you drooling when you see those big overland mobile mansions. A new Transit would be the Chromus Errectus version of the Chromus Kneelicus version you currently have.
get ya one of those pretty new high tops and chase the sun, go where it's warm and beautiful too just an edit to say life is short do what you gotta do to be happy go for it

Bro a new van would make your channel pop.. and adds lot more subscribers..
Crome, high tops are the best. OMG!
Renting will be a pain. Sell it and build a new one.
Great plan for you and Danika, enjoy the time while it is there.
I say new van! New Van Man. :)
get ya one of those pretty new high tops and chase the sun, go where it's warm and beautiful too just an edit to say life is short do what you gotta do to be happy go for it
Just do what you got do!!!!
Coming from a guy whose life‘s upside down and doesn’t know what to do to
lol. ✌️✌️
New build makes for great content!!!
I would build out the ambo and go that route and spend some time in that for awhile. That way it wil give you the time to find a transit you want.
Your van has got you to where you are. Would like to see you in something dependable to start fresh and move forward.
new hightop way better for your healthand give yourself a little more room for you and cruzy as well
Chrome just buy an acre set up for van dwellers could stay no worries and when not using yourself rent it out to the travelers
