    I drove the 991.2 GT3 and a 992 GT3 back to back recently. I think 992 is more capable in every dimensions. More front-end grip, usable "normal" mode, etc.

      I agree. I’ve gone back from a 992 GT3 to a 991.2 GT3. On the track the 992 is immense but 95% of my driving is road based and the 991.2 is a much better road car. Suspension is more compliant and the steering on the 992 GT3 with the double wishbone is far too busy and twitchy on crappy UK roads.

    I've owned a 718 GTS (2.5T) & 718 GT4 and 991.2 GTS & currently 992S. I will agree that for some reason, the recent 911's don't have great steering feel/feedback. The 718's for some reason was a step above the 911, especially the GT4, but that might be because I also had Sport Cup 2's.

    • @frederickschulze8014

      I think it's mainly down to the transition from hydraulic to electric steering. New Porsches are all electric steering.

    • @willhurst
      @willhurst 7 месяцев назад

      But you’ve also not owned a 911 GT car to compare Apple to apples. Both a 911 GTS and 992S are heavier cars than both generations GT3’s and both those cars run on pilot sport 4’s (or similar tires) which is basically an all weather tire and a tire that understeers terribly on track.
      Don’t get me wrong the GT4 is a great car. But the real benefit on that car is its balance with the MR configuration. It’s easier to drive reasonably fast out of the box but also not as fun. Whereas a GT3 on good tires is like having the mouse sensitivity turned all the way up. It’s easier to make mistakes but when you nail turn in it’s unbeatable.

      Hi KoryjoJK, I have a 991.2 GT3 with Cup 2 and a 992.1 Carrera S with Pilot Super Sport. I cannot confirm having any unhappiness because of the steering in both cars. In my opinion a normal 911 is not comparable to a GT version. As willhurst mentioned I agree that the 992 is the more modern and also heavier car. It depends on what you want, where you live and where you drive. For ME a GT car as a daily driver would be annoying. As a daily a 992 Carrera S is very good car, perhaps a little bit too perfect. You can drive highway with it 500 kilometers without any problems but also you can drive so fast that you will be in jail - even in Germany. ;) If you want to drive sporty I think a GT car from Porsche is the best, even the GT4s. Apart from this a small comparison: A friend has a 991.1 Turbo S with KW suspension, track setup etc. - so "a cheap" GT2. For ME it is not comparible to the 991 GT3. It isn't slow, but it is still boring (you can feel the all-wheel drive, etc.). Also I have driven a "normal" 718 as rental car. Unfortunately not even a GTS or GT4 yet. For me a normal 718 wasn't a bad car, but I found it also boring as a daily and far away from a 992. There are many people who complaining about the steering or that even a 991 GT3 is boring in comparison to a 997 GT3 e.g.

      @@matthiass.2122 Having driven a 991.1 GT3 myself on a long road trip I think anyone describing that car as "boring" is frankly mad! I can totally understand the feel issue with the electronic steering on 991's onwards vs the older hydraulics but it's a fairly minor issue. I currently have a completely stock 987.1S Boxster and while perhaps you can feel or sense front tyre slip and grip a fraction more easily than an electric rack - the precision and direct feeling of steering was way superior in the 991.1GT3 I drove.

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  7 месяцев назад

      Maybe I'm one of the few who have pointed out the 997's deficiency in front end feel? Not steering feel, but its tendency to push.

    • @savagegeese
      @savagegeese 7 месяцев назад +5

      Steering feel is drastically different based on tire and front end alignment. A more rigid tire like Cup2 R and the track alignment up front creates much higher load up and less push. But you can't compare any modern EPS steering to older generation cars, they all have isolation. @Zygrene

    • @Zygrene
      @Zygrene  7 месяцев назад +1

      @savagegeese absolutely. I often notice that tire/alignment attributes are overlooked as contributing factors to steering feel. I've never driven on Cup 2 R. This GT3 was running Supersport R which I hear is sort of a budget Cup 2 competitor. Unsure of differences in sidewall stiffness and other factors.
      Regardless, I have never felt an EPS match the best hydraulic racks for feel, e.g. Lotus Evora, Porsche 997 GT3

    • @savagegeese
      @savagegeese 7 месяцев назад +4

      @@Zygrene The homologated CUP2 R from Porsche for GT3 has the same compound of R comps from GT3 Carerra CUP series and carcass of modern CUP2. Tread blocks are different as well. On the Porsche track alignment there is far more load transfer into suspension laterally that makes its way into steering rack. Its at least 20% better but of course not 997 or any hydro rack including your NSX.
