- I'm Raxxanterax and I make Build Guides, Leveling Guides, Tier Lists and More for Diablo 4, Last Epoch, Path of Exile and Path of Exile 2. Patch 0.1.0d came out last night and it nerfed trigger gems heavily along with several popular builds using them. The Cold Meteor Stormweaver Sorceress is all but dead at this point until someone figures out some other madesss. In the meantime I highly recommend the Lightning Arrow Deadeye Ranger, Hopefully it can survive more than a few days...

No. This was sold as a “early access, half the content now half the content later” not as a beta realm. Nerfing something is fine, but they deleted the entire interaction. My sorc that could clear t15s easily did not just go slower, it could not do t7s after the patch. They should change a lot of stuff. This was just a horribly bad change. They should have reduced the damage not delete cast on X interaction.

Respecs costing gold is so insane still. Especially that it scales. All they did was make it more intuitive to respec, but it still is prohibitive. Just insane to have any cost attached to it at all, especially when they're wanting people to test builds out
I dont mind the cost but let me respec ascendancy... you just can't switch it out.
do you guys not pick up gold? I did a 60 node respec for 70k gold and had like 50k remaining at like lvl 48

Another fun fact, refund cost scales with level. So do a 60 node respec at 80 instead of baby levels and then come back and tell us 300k+ gold is acceptable for 60 base nodes. (ascended nodes are significantly more expensive).

Why not reduce the respec cost by 99% while in ea. No reason it should be full cost.
Usually GGG does major nerfs or buffs between seasons, so people aren't usually pissed, so people can usually plan around those. If they're going to do such drastic changes a lot during the Early Access, I agree respecting should be free, for now.

Also what in the tree were you taking that you now need an entire tree change.
If it’s an interaction that requires very specific nodes I can see it but nothing so far has been nerfed like that

Keep in mind that this kind of approach may change and they may start to nerf stuff during leagues as well.
Why do you feel like it should only be free for now? I feel like they dont gain anything from it not being free since gold/orbs of regret is/are not sold for real money. Or am i missing something?
About respecs, if you actually change your build a lot you still need all new gear, the passive tree is just half of it

Skills gems is what's putting me off respeccing
They should have given Cast on X Skills a 60% dmg nerf when socketed and done, instead they basically destroyed the entire mechanism.
60% dmg nerf is not enough when you can cast 2 comet with the same amount of energy consumption with the support gem. You only needed 1 comet to clear one pack of white mobs. And you can easily freeze multiple mobs.
First time? That's classic GGG behaviour, they've been doing it for years and leaving entire archetypes dead and worthless.

This sounds like a better approach, just make the number right - 80% might even do it, because people who don't use meta gems for straight up damage are also hurt now and they should not be.
I think they should have gave it like a 500% mana cost multiplier or something, all these builds struggled to keep up with the mana

beginning - stuggle in Act 1
mid game - huge struggle in Act 2
Act 3 - finally got the better support gems and Cast on Freeze and I felt better, game got faster, clearing the ultra huge maps got faster... for 1 whole evening
today morning I woke up and my Cast on freeze does nothing on mobs... so again, struggle to go through the maps and reach the boss
entered the cruel Act 1 for the first time like 30 mins ago... it takes time to even kill 1 white mob...
respeccing at my level already costs 1400 per node... if these kinds of nerfs will be regular throughout the early access, respec should be for free

Cast on X(especially anything cold related) trivialized the game. It needed a nerf and one ASAP. I think they went overkill on the nerf though.
Same scenario - yesterday I finished act 3 and it was such a joy to fly over a half of the cruel act 1. At least I had a half an act without pain.
I have beaten act 1 on LA - looks like victim for the next patch. I stop playing because wo respec it will be another useless char. It's pointless to continue. I'm not angry, I'm dissapointed and confused.
@@sukiline d4 is currently in the middle of a 4 month season where a class is 10000% stronger than intended which they didn't nerf and in general the game is easy as balls. What do you mean nerfing fun out?
I'm also here, just got freeze comet to a place I can use it in cruel and now i'm back to a huge struggle. if I cant fix it Sorc is parked. I may re roll but will wait to see what gets nerfed next.
I just got cast of freeze yesterday afternoon, was so happy with it paired with cold snaps and thought "oh wow finally this is fun". This happened to me in D4 with Berserker whirlwind build and now again not even after 1 week of release. This is really a waste of time. Thank you for being a loud voice for us frustrated gamers.
It still works with Cold Snap. Cold Snap has fairly low cast time, so you can still reliably get Cold Snaps off.
Comet on the other hand... that was hit hard indeed.

@@Vexkion But Cold Snap still works. CoF setup on pack of mobs is very helpful with it. In CoF case people are mainly mad about Comet being gutted hard, but OP was having fun with Cold Snap, which wasn't hit that hard.

Since this is a BETA and it was released for TESTING i believe it would be logical to have a zero cost respec so people could test multiple builds without the concern about lost time

@@maxpowers4436 It may not be called a Beta and is called early access, but, it is a beta. Any time a game is released before a full release, it is a beta. The reason games are released before a they are considered completed is for testing. I completely agree with @Space_Badger395 that they should make respec cost zero. All the people who are playing early release are paying to playtest for GG. Let the people tweak builds and allow GG to gather more data on build balance rather than having to grind up from ground zero because they don't have the gold to respec.

No they don’t. Respec is easy.
You have to remember one important thing. They stated before the game went into EA that they didn't foresee any (massive) nerfs once it went live, due to the fact that the damage numbers weren't insane. I sadly was playing my own version of CoF and am attempting to see if it is possible to still use comet, just as a normal cast. The results so far aren't that promising. I totally agree that overall a nerf of some sort was needed, but as you showed, the difference between 'pre-nerf' and 'post-nerf' wasn't actually a nerf in my estimation...it was a complete obliteration of those skills to the point where they have essentially become useless. I could see a 50% nerf, to make the comets half as often, but a 90% nerf was WAY overkill. The other thing they didn't take into consideration was the support gems. Impetus, as far as I can tell, gives virtually no energy anymore, since 40% of nothing is nothing. (Instead of 140 energy as a base with skill and support, it is now 14...)
it is not only the respec cost, also the jeweller orbs which are hard to drop that were invested into now a bunch of dead trigger and ice skills

Yes just spent my first and only jewellers orb on cof, and now its not functional at all. Great times. Forced reroll. Not enough gold and cant farm it cus it doesnt work killing stuff lmao
@@halvorhf4280 dont worry, you can use other cof and comet spells to suffice the nerf, also get the energy increasing spells from meta gems in the east of the passive tree.
I literally finished this comet build about an hour before the patch released. I'm one of those just playing for fun, and now I'm screwed

I had just dumped 40 ex on gear, spent all my gold respeccing to CoF comet sorc. Did a couple maps that night and said "Okay this is what I like, I just wanna log in and blast, its starting to get fun" I go to sleep, wake up, and my lvl 76 CoF sorc is completely bricked and dead after I just spent 4 days and all my resources setting it up. If they dont respect my time, they dont get my money. So I refunded and uninstalled. I beleive they locked my account for refunding but IDC at this point, even though ive had account since beta. That was the worst gaming experience I ever had. People say "its early access
No mfer its a fully fleshed out game. Call the next 6 classes a DLC and its the same thing. This game is released and working out the kinks. But with that being said, now I will wait till release so that i dont get screwed over after 2 days playtime again.
What's wild to me is that it still kinda humiliates bosses, but I have to be more careful around some random white or blue pack on the way there than the boss itself. I was still only in cruel and can't afford to respec at all. It needed a nerf, sure, it didn't need to be unusable.

Nerfing it into the ground is ridiculous. And not a single person can respec because it's so damn expensive.
@johnWayne-df6rm i make my own builds. The fact the game is on early release so we the players can test builds for the full release and the respec is so expensive you use time on a character and nerfs hit making them garbage without the ability to respec. This is the issue. If it was free or very cheap for ealry access so we can do as they want and test the builds and game it makes much more sense. Use your brain.

@@itz_x_salvation395 I agree with you. Time is not unlimited, and enjoying a class, only for GGG to go, nah. NERFED. Then we have class that is built one way with all the gear we have etc, its a massive set back and have to start again, its a massive kick in the nuts. Yeah its EA and changes are expected, but if we can expect this level of nerfs to every class all the time, (every week at this rate) then the fun will soon die off and it will just become a tedious restart saga, and myself and so many wont do this.
Cutting the respec cost in half, at least temporarily after a large change, would have helped this nerf land far better.
I think its just math. If 20 Comets per second is to many because of the amount of freezes, then double the energy required. Bam 10 Comets per second. Still too many? 120% more energy. There was no need to remove the build from the game. They might as well just remove the gems. Its an absolute overreaction to a build being popular and fun showing up in feeds.
Hi Rax, in last 24 hours many stramers are came with different solutions for cast on freeze build, but as always all we need is your solution !!! I am sure all are agree here - Rax is thausands of miles ahead every one else in terms of explaining how the things are working!
Raxx, as much as I appreaciate the effort, suggesting a re-roll to a different character is not a solution for everyones 1-3 days playtime sunk into sorc/whatever else they were playing that is now bricked. Everyone already knows that's an option, it's just not what most are willing to do.
"Going again" is not what I want to do after 3 days and barely reaching maps.
Goes to show how much the patch impacted the builds. Remember the cost to respec increased as you lvl some ppl can’t respec unless they grind for hours. You could lvl up another character in that time. Like I have.

Plus your next character could easily get nerfed as well. I don't mind the nerfs in theory given it's early access, but respeccing has to be made a lot cheaper.

Same my weekend just started today played like 4 hours just chilling trying out Sorceress and I even went to use Rax last
build guide but I was tired of “Ice spells” because I put too many hours on last season on poe1 frost nova archmage, so went with Ranger yesterday already got to act 2

My biggest issues with the change are that the nerf was not a “let’s fine tune it” and more of a “kill it with fire” nerf. The other major issue being that they did this but provided no way out for players in end game who’s entire build is build around the cast on meta gems. Gold cost in the higher levels is high and it’s completely locked some people out of their built characters because they can’t afford to respec now.
yeah man, the killed it, they could just findtune it with start maybe a 20-30% nerf, but they nerfed it directly with a 90% Hammer
Gonna be honest if players builds are just made around just these gems, that's most likely a factor to why they got nerfed. Wasn't Poe2s directions suppose to deter builds like this taking over the endgame similarly to Poe1? Less 1-3 button builds stacked with activate on "x"and more fresh new takes.

Yeah when I got on last night for a couple hours I immediately noticed it. I did a cast on ignite build. The amount it got nerfed is insane. They honestly should have just taken it out of the game at that point. Its literally wasted space because there is no realistic situation where you could actually use it and it be effective.
What if we ignite ourselves? Do we count as unique or rare or magic? PoE 1 considers players magic.
Why would they remove it when it functions perfectly fine on a regular build using it for utility? People just don't seem to know what the mechanics of the ability are when they say it's useless now.

Ignite is perfectly fine. You just have to invest in bigger ignites now, meaning it's not free. Is that what you're upset by? Cast on freeze might need a rebalance in the future. But you just need to do bigger ignites now in order for cast on Ignite to work.
Its good we dont need another Poe where you ine shot whole rooms including bosses,. Poe 2 should be challenging even if you have a great build . And i think thats what they wanted it to be, not a click one button kill all game
Thank you for the amazing Ranger build guide. As a Stormweaver refugee I rerolled this morning and I'm blasting. I can't wait for your video in 3 days when the build gets gutted and we can cry together. See you then.
Sad part about this is, all the "non-meta" characters were also affected. I was trying to avoid any build guides, and built a 3-element stormweaver, with comet being triggered by cast on ignite. I just hit maps, and wasn't really destroying anything. In fact I was struggling even with the T1 bosses I encoutnered and died a bunch.
The comet was mostly helping by freezing, rather than doing damage, though that was a big part on trash as well, I admit. It didn't feel overpowered at all.
After the patch I tested one map, and I am pretty sure I completed the level before the energy meter filled even once. The meta gem feels useless now, and that can't be the inteded design. Especially considering how much spirit it costs to equip.
Hopefully we are able to find some happy midpoint for this change in the future :)

I had the exact same problem, I avoided every build guide, and was using Cast on Ignite to trigger detonate dead, and like 70% of my damage is gone because of the energy nerf. Im so sad
@@pinguthelightning With CoI you just need to make sure that you're ignites actually deal damage because that determines how much energy you gain. It will also work much much better against rares and bosses.
@@TheExplodingCore Yeah, the thing is, I tested pretty much all possible ignite skills, and against white mobs, there is just not enough ignite damage as is to make it work. Not in my current level/gear at least. So I'm pretty much hard stuck unless i rework the entire setup. Which is fine, i mean, for me thats half the fun, but its sad nonetheless
@@pinguthelightning use Cast on minion death with SRS from firewall but don't cast firewall too often so they actually die. Not great but avoids being stuck.
@@TheExplodingCore Yeah, i went with crit chance instead of ignite, and hard casting firestorm and fireball, trigerring elemental storm. Its going, not as fun, but it works :)
I think following major nerf, having a free or discount re-spec window would alleviate the frustration of a nerf. The window could be like for 1 week after the patch, so it isn't permanent but just to aid forced build changes.

They do exactly that in PoE 1. Which makes the fact that they dont do it in PoE 2 even crazier ...

Am I going insane? The nerf was not to some hyper specific interaction from the tree it was the gem. What are you respeccing on the tree?
@@acksawblack the passive tree is built in a way to slow reward you to focus on very specific things over time. For example, if you want to shoot the most insane fireballs, there IS an optimal set of passives you get to maximize your fire damage, maybe crit etc. if your fireball gets nerfed, now many of the passives are no longer optimal.

Lightning arrow isn’t mechanically unintended. All of the main nerfs so far have been to interactions that aren’t working as they should. LA works identically to poe 1
There's nothing mechanically wrong with lightning arrow. Neither is it outperforming what it would be expected to do. It's an active skill that does a bunch of damage, which is exactly what they'd want. So unless they rebalance damage types, I don't see what they would change about lightning arrow.

Nerfing it is fine. The problem is the scale. Both Energy generation and Energy cost. If the cost was 200 and the gain was 40 it would feel pretty good. Gonna take a break from the game now

Yup same i need to take a break after this. I spent all this time on my character just for it to get nerfed and apparently my only option is to just start over.
yes going to take a break too, invested 50+ hours on this build to have some fun and they obliterate it, while others builds explode shits with 1 or 2 buttons, makes absolutly no sense.

As a bloodmage unfortunately, I get the changes as they were a little broken but I wish they would have buffed other things while nerfing these. I still cant even use my ascendency because its a nerf to myself on top the nerfs they are doing to spells. I have never given up on a character in many years of POE because I dont care about being a gigachad, but it is too much to ask to make it where it doesnt take 15 mins to kill an optional boss while other classes can kill the same boss in less than a min.
Just hurts to feel kicked down for making a poor choice on class/ascendancy and then to get most of the builds nerfed that your class could use. SRS nerf hurts just as bad as cast on ailment.
I feel this, it was the one good class for blood mage, now its unplayable. started making a sorcerer and now they nerf it lmao
they buffed leech tho. is the ascendancy node still broken?
@@TheExplodingCore Everyone took different points knowing that leech was worthless. Respeccing ascendancy costs a ton and getting the 3rd/4th ascendancy points to even try leech is very difficult.
I was actually aiming for Bloodmage as my ascendancy, is it really that bad in comparison to the witch?
@@R3TR1BUT1ONz Yes. It just makes your build worse until you have 4 points because you double your spell cost (mana AND life) and you don't get access to the damage nodes until much later and they aren't impactful until you have good gear.
FUN DETECTED, violation! All builds must be boring and clunky and used in missionary position and only for purposes of breeding.
As a dad who fits in game time late at night nerfs like this suck. I’m in act 3 and I’ve been building my passives towards this build. I have no where close the gold I need to respec and it kinda makes me want to put the game down. My build is okay but was just on the cusp of getting comet.

I feel for everyone whose build got nerfed. This is Early Access and I'm sure this isn't going to be the only massive change happening before the full release. While I want them to get the game in the place they want obviously, they also asked us to pay and help them test all these things out. They should make respec free or EXTREMELY cheap and also let us change ascension classes. There has to be a balance to this while they get everything figured out.

I've spend around 40h on my sorcerers, getting close to lvl 60, it was all coming together, my ES was getting higher, and now I'm lvl 9 ranger ... :(
I feel you. I went on a 3 day trip right after swapping to a cast on freeze setup, (sold my amazing lightning wand with +4 lightning skills, high spell dmg% and lightning dmg% and it even had Mana regen Just to afford swapping) finally blasting some t1-2 maps and this is what I woke up to. Well it's early access and to be expected but well. Still feels bad after investing 50+ hours 😅. I'm probably gonna level a monk or ranger as well. Hopefully this time I can at least make it to high tier maps before they decide to absolutely murder my build

My god took the words right outta my mouth, glad you have the platform and audience to be able to voice this for so many of us players, this is my first poe game ive played and and felt completely useless logging back in and having no dmg.. spent 120k gold (all i had) to respec just to have another weak ass build that cant clear mobs either.. hopefully they hear what you are saying and do something about it... I got no money and no dmg so my character is just in limbo, dont know what to do

i remember Raxx making a video like this on something D4 devs did similar. They listened to him and made some more changes and then stuff got a whole lot better. Raxx knows his shit.

"Oh, this looks like it'll be pretty good, I better not do that because they'll nerf it into the ground! I think the reason they did it fast is because every hour they wait to nerf is another hour people sink into the build. I was halfway through leveling into cast on freeze (level 34) when the nerf came down. Annoyed that I can't follow my plan but my build is also just "generic cold sorc" at this point so I'm not locked into anything.
That said, they absolutely should hand out free respecs. They have done it in PoE 1 and have said they are willing to do it for PoE 2, but they're hesitant to do so- in one of his interviews Jonathan said the bar should be high such that a nerf should touch most builds in order to warrant a respec. However I've now had 2 builds nerfed under me, I think it's time to hand one out.
Except in Poe 1 builds rely on tree nodes to be broken. Poe 2 tree is not where the nerfs are targeted. Your build isn’t actually nerfed just the skill gem. They should offer free skill gems if anything.
issue is that once people get used to "free respecs" or lower costs im willing to bet money when it actually goes live or they dont give out a free respec next time we get riots. tons of people late into the build just spent 1-2 hours farming gold on lower zones and its fine.

Got to act two and my elemental build was getting destroyed in the first zone of the act. Saw your build guide with the cast on freeze and got really lucky drops for freeze items. Respected with all my gold and actually started doing damage and making progress. I appreciate you showing off the build it really helped me to atleast get to act 3 yesterday.
I am now glad that I am just alting all of the classes, and with my semi-casual playing time I have barely started Act 2 on ANY of them.
The costs for respec are absolutely insane, and counter-intuitive for actual playtesting.

I never got into PoE1, tried it several times and it just never clicked for me. I decided to try PoE2 after i saw a few friends playing on day #2 of early access. I was really loving the game and learning all the mechanics.
Fast forward... I had just finished the campaign lvl 66 CoF stormweaver and was getting excited to do my first map of any PoE game after the servers restarted. Let just say I've still never done a PoE map...
I like your open minded take and I have a similar mindset. It's early access and they can do whatever to thier game they want. I'm disappointed how it went down and won't return till an official league start or offical release of the game, where changes of this magnitude shouldn't be happening.
Problem here is not the nerf of cast on freeze…. Who cares, but I spent almost al the gold to deeply respec into lightning… so if GGG wanna nerf a build they should make possible to everyone to respec everything at least 1 time for free.

Really spot on bro. Now some might say that it should have been clear to anyone that early access is not really the real game, that person should be given a full respec or reset. GGG should give these players the resources they need because these players help the game better. It's a give and take.

Blizzard got roasted for doing this with d4. Being overly fast on nerfing. They eventually had to revert that stance. Seems like GGG hasn’t learned that.
D4 also wasn't in early access. I'm not defending GGG here because I actually agree that this is a heavy handed and speedy nerf for a build that isn't even that most OP in the game. However, I have seen GGG do this in seasons a few times. Right now they seem to be quick on the draw with a lot of stuff which is great, but I think this should serve as an example to not get too comfortable in any build rn.
In d4 i don't remember such nerf during the season. They nerfed build before season. What are you talking about. I played almost OP build every season before it got nerfed. Nerf during season never happened in d4.
At least in d4 i can have fun not this struggling to kill white mobs. All dmg in game must be increased at least x3.

I’ve found using hypothermia, cast frost bomb and spam frost wall will cause some really strong burst dps. Only draw back is you have to wait for the cooldowns

I’m certain they will give a tree reset if they have to nerf a unique mechanic. Like poe 1 with that recent chaos low health leech build which made you invulnerable on pathfinder.
That build required very specific tree and item requirements so when they gutted it, the build actually became bricked as you couldn’t do anything
Also yes cast on effects got nerfed but I already saw a guy on reddit post a build of it still working. It just required actual all in on elemental ailment application.

I respecced to CoF because my personal experiment into duo-lightning fire build started to fizzle out and not do enough damage to clear anything efficiently once i got to Act 1 Cruel. I experimented to try come up with something cool on my own, and it didnt work out. Because of the cost - I couldnt experiment again and just followed a guide and spent everything to respec last night. Now I cant even clear maps let alone bosses. AGAIN.
To deploy a patch like this without giving people a way to continue to progress their characters, even in early access, is a failure on GGG's part to their community.

I'm one of the time poor players you mentioned and just got my sorceress to the point of using comet, well, imagine my disappointment. I'm still like my current build without comet but it misses a powerful auto cast. Oh well, I'll try the ranger or maybe monk because I have a powerful unique for that class. Thanks for the vid Raxx.

This was such a cool concept that I was really looking forward to getting online in a few levels. (Currently level 38).
This nerf is a baffling choice to make when as mentioned in this video there are builds in the game that are much more powerful than this.
I just hope this isn't the start of the same Path (hey look a pun) that Blizzard took early on with Diablo 4 (nerf nearly everything for the sake of "balance") that effectively killed any early momentom that game had and a lot of good will from the community was lost that they are still trying to claw back after a year +

Playing sorc i got to cruelty last night after the ners and specced back into a lightning build since i was 5 lvls away from being able to use the comet build. I respeced into full lightning and was clearing better than i was before. Its not as good as what comet looked like it was going to be but it still isnt bad. My build just takes a little longer to get online and requires a little more setup to start nuking. It was bound to happen i saw it coming, it was VERY VERY strong and a lot of the comet procs people were getting were overkill. As a sorc player we all saw it coming. I didnt think it would be this fast, hoped id have at least some time to test it but oh well. They are probably working on buffing it to make it usable but have just nerffed it so hard in order to not take it out of the game for now. People also forget there are a lot of support gems that arent in the game yet. Time will tell and i have faith they will make it right. All yall bitching just need to go touch grass, its not that deep. It sucks but you will live. I promise

I'm a new player. Yesterday at level 17 I decided to go full frost, respeced and ditched Spark and Orb. Now I'm level 22, finally made it to Act 2, got my first +7 Skill (Frost Curse) and was so excited for this build. This breaks my heart 💔
As much as I really appriciate GGG being "on it" since the launch to fix stuff, this right here might have been a big mistake. I have the comet build and am not lvl 60. I just calculated that, I dont have enough to respec for any other build (I have bought from the vendors twice total). So basically the character is stuck. either spend 3 hours - half a day to clear a single map, or start a new character is the options left.
And that new character you make is also going to get nerfed right about the time it starts coming online 😅
I agree with others that respec should be free for early access. We are their paid beta testers, so why aren't they giving players more options to try out different builds? That way players aren't pissed and GGG can nerf the shit out of most OP builds before release. Game will be more balanced if there are more "testers" out in the field.

I was pushing for comet build. I work a full time job and spent all my free time building out sorc. Now what the fuck am I supposed to do? Ugh... I don't have the gold for respec. I was having so much fun. They are destroying the game before fixing the things that matter!!!!

Still no buff or rework for Unbound Avatar i see. Seems like no ones talking or posting about it. You need 50 ailment procs at a .2 second cooldown (so it can't be aoe farmed) for a single charge that lasts a measly 9.5 seconds... Oh and all unbound fury goes away when entering a new zone, dungeon or going to town for inventory management lol. When you first unlock it, it takes 14 minuets of clearing an entire zone for a single 9.5 second use for a boss fight. At which you just leave gear on the ground behind to do so. Later in cruel acts it takes half an entire zone, sometimes 1/3rd, but still its a 1 time use damage buff compared to a same damage buff like -40% elemental res on bosses that you can spam! lmao. And the 40% less cost to use support gem doesn't even work for it, also its not energy so there's no support gem in the game to increase the rate you build fury...

Same. I didn't get to start playing POE2 until Sunday night and also only get a couple of hours a night so I JUST hit act 3. Was looking forward to getting the cast on freeze skill soon and it gets nerfed lol

Tbh it needed to be nerfed and I knew it would, I just figured I had a couple of weeks before they nerfed builds. Thought they would focus more on bugs and improving other aspects of the game before they worried too much about balance

I think it's early access, respeccing should be free. If they need to balance the game and iron out bugs, then the most possible combinations should be the goal and high pricing for respec hurts this.
the crazy thing is, breifly after the patch i swapped my EoW CoC build to using a chain support and it still worked just as well as before, then 2 maps later, I could not get a single proc in an entire map.
here's my feedback about it:
while i wasn't following your guide, I was basically playing something similar I made myself, I had to waste around 7-8 hours farming gold as a lvl 35 character (I'm not able to rush to high levels like I might have done 10 years ago lol), in order to respec my entire passive tree, and to add insult to injury, as a result of this nerf, I feel like I have wasted my first ascension points because I had to respec to fire dmg as I got a unique staff weapon that interacts with fire spells and now as a result of taking the 'cold damage' ascension I'm locked out of ever getting the fire dmg version, and I WILL not restart the game on a new character of the exact same class because of a monumental fuck up by the devs, it's absurd that this is a thing.
GGG has continually said they want the game to be more slower paced and methodical than POE1. If your build screen clears and kills bosses in under a minute, you should expect that the developers are going to do some drastic changes to the tech you are using to bring the damage more inline with their stated vision of the game. One of my friends was playing the comet build and the first thing i thought when he showed it to me was that it was going to to be heavily nerfed soon. i guarantee you the lightning arrow build is going to be next so don't get upset and act surprised when GGG does nerf it soon.

I want to be able to clear a map in 5mins (or less) after a good investment in my endgame build.
Then the game is dead on arrival. It isn't what arpg players want, and the Souls-like players will just move onto actual Souls-like games when they realize it isn't a Souls-like.
I had a nice Deadeye shock build going but didn't realize the herald passive node was bugged and wasn't supposed to be giving me all that extra lightning damage. I understand it's early access and many things can change but I'd appreciate it if they lowered respec costs to allow us to try out different builds in an easier way.
The change they made to "CastOn-" wasn't a "fix" it was an absolute gutting of the gem. It's so bad now that no one will want to touch it for ANYTHING. When you make such drastic, and obvious, nerfs to something then why does it exist in the game? At this point it's a noob-trap and will cause people, who don't know about this nerf, to fall into said trap...realize it's trash...and then reroll/delete/quit.
Noob-traps should not exist in an ARPG where it eventually causes people to quit the game over said trap. It more and more feels like their vision for POE2 is for such an ultra-rare niche audience that POE2 will need to become like POE1 eventually or it'll get shut down from no one playing it.
Right now everyone is in the honeymoon phase still trying to figure out all the moving pieces, but so far it seems POE2 is a MUCH more shallower almost Blizzard-ified version of the POE experience. It's not good. :(
GGG definitely deserves more credit than most game companies, but it feels a bit like if we get too excited about a build we hit some arbitrary threshold that triggers a helldivers 2 hellbomb from orbit. Its kinda scary

My story:
I've played as lightning sorc, begining was fine, but later it was a crap, so i respec to fire, it was a crap as well, so i respec another time, this time to cold and it was really good. Finnaly i've made my way to maps. I did one and went to sleep. At the morning i did my second map and something was wrong, my dps was extremly low. After few minutes i've realised what happend, even tried to replace CoF to CoC and it was even worse. I've basically spent 48 hours in game time to have useless character. Now im starting from the begining, because im tired of sorc. Thats what early access is, that was obvious that too strong build will be nerfed, but GGG completly destroyed cast on builds.
With monk, I think you just use the default attack (with martial tempo support) and bell until you unlock T5 skills. I ended up going ice strike, but tempest flurry looks good too.
You can use killing palm/falling thunder early for more aoe to clear mobs, but the default attack has some aoe on it, does really good damage, and stacks bell really fast with martial tempo.
Reason to these nerfs: Just check Jungroan content. He managed to fry servers with his SRS / flamewall auto bomber.

It's frustrating that some good builds are being wiped out so quickly. Hopefully they can fix it soon. Respec should always cheap or free.

I think they should implement a rare currency orb that you can exchange with the hooded one for a full respec. Add it into the pool so that it has similar drop rate to exalted orbs. That way if you just need to change a node or two, use your gold. If you need a full reset use one of the 2 to 3 rare currency orbs you've accumulated over the past few days, i think that would balance it out nicely.
GGG needs to buff something when they come in to destroy other skills. There’s hardly ever offsets to their nerfs.
