  • In this video I set out to catch plaice in Brighton.
    Brighton Marina is an outstanding fishing venue, suitable for both beginners and experienced anglers alike. This video includes info on tactics needed to catch fish as well as tips focused on bait and rig choice.
    Whilst the main target for the day was plaice, it turned into a species hunt, including a cute little thornback ray. Baits used were lug, frozen lug, rag and prawns. I fished on the east wall for about eight hours and landed lots of fish!

    Stripped baits and the missing hook, points to crab activity usually, Gem. Next time you have a completely stripped hook and trace check for abrasions in the line imediately above the hook. When this is happening it is time to use pop up beads to keep the worm baits out of the crabs claws. Mind you there are some fish out there that can bite through even a heavy trace,but mostly it is crabs and lobsters at this time of year from the shore.But hey up lass soon be peeler crab baits so get our own back lol.Great to see the ladies out fishing I used to know a couple of good lady anglers a few year back. Keep the vids coming !!great content.

    • @ClickBaitGem
      @ClickBaitGem  5 месяцев назад

      Yes, Graham, crab activity can be a total pain when they are out in force. Of course, shrimps and the like also be culprits for stripping baits. Nobody wants a spider crab invasion lol. Thanks for watching.

    Great vlog , back down to reality after Norway. Only one critique , one of your reels needs some tlc, perhaps a bearing change and a service

    • @ClickBaitGem
      @ClickBaitGem  5 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks for the tips! Yeah - that reel sounded well rough (sounded worse in real life than in the video!). I think Norway did it in lol. For sure needs a service.

      Not sure I want to show all the lads up hehe. Seriously though I prefer pleasure fishing to match fishing. I like my freedom to fish where I want and for what I want, rather than focus on match-winning catches.

    hi little tip dont lay your rod on concrete,damage your line, block of wood with string though and old weight on each end,job done take care

    • @ClickBaitGem
      @ClickBaitGem  4 месяца назад +1

      I’m always careful with the line on the concrete and not too fussed about a few scratches. I might change my mind if I fish there more often 😃. Thanks for the tip.

    • @ClickBaitGem
      @ClickBaitGem  5 месяцев назад +2

      Love this!!! My fixed spools are Shimano Ultegra Ci4 14000. Superb line lay on them and some decent cranking power too. Fast drags. For my multis I have a few different ones. Penn fathom 15s, Diawa 7ht mags and STs, Tronixpro banzai monomags.

    Hiya your gentle plaice bites are different to where i fish at Knott End the plaice bites are very aggressive you cannot miss the great rattle

    • @ClickBaitGem
      @ClickBaitGem  5 месяцев назад +1

      Interesting. I often get very gentle plaice bites, especially when the tide is ripping, but in some sessions they are super rattley. Perhaps it’s related to how much bow is in the line, and also I use mono rather than braid. You?

    Lovely rods,may i ask what they are

    • @ClickBaitGem
      @ClickBaitGem  5 месяцев назад

      Sure - they are Tronixpro Xenon C-6 LDs (low diameter). The bite detection on them is top notch and they are lovely and light too. Yet their ideal casting weight is 6oz, so plenty of power in them.
