Two things I wonder about the riding modes. Can you switch modes on the fly and will it remember it when you turn your bike back on? Its competition is crf300, klx, and the new ktm 390 adv and enduro. Crf 450 and ktm 500 are in a league of their own, maximum performance with short service intervals.
IF the new KTM 390 is reliable, then it's gonna eat the DRZ's lunch. 45 hp vs 38. 6 speed vs. 5 speed. Looks way better. The only question is the reliability.

So now we have a choice between a 25 year old medicore dual sport and a brand new mediocre dual sport? Option C, which was a new AND IMPROVED version of the DRZ, was what everybody really wanted. Same gripe people had with the new KLR. The Japanese have gotten really lazy lately.
Looks good. Extra weight? E.F.I., A.B.S., computer and don't forget with E.F.I you get an electric fuel pump, something Suzuki aren't brilliant at. In AU I would have thought DR "ZED" would be how it's pronounced. You must be trying to appeal to Americans.
@@dalewyatt1321 not trying to appeal to anyone. It’s just how I say it and yes I normally have people in the comments having a whinge 😂. Zee or zed whatever.

I couldn't care less about a 6-speed gearbox. Dual Sports aren't Highway bikes. All these whiny babies... you run out of power before you run out of gears anyway.
Actually, the dumbest comment you could have made 😂. What a flog. The DRZ is cooked after 80kph solely because of the terrible 5 speed box. Dual sports have to be able to do 100kph without buzzing like they are going to blow up. You are clearly a clueless armchair expert. 25 years and every single gle forum and thread has said the exact same three flaws, EFI,6 Speed,Brakes. Suzuki failed on every front. Slower, heavier, less power, and no six speed. You, sir, have no idea what you're talking about.
Yay to little way to late. And all the motor mods are just to meat emissions. The bike is still heavier and slower than a 2004 KTM 525 or 450 EXC. Not to mention the new 350 and 500 KTMs.
Too little, too late. They dropped the ball on this and now are playing catch up with other manufacturers. The tank is small and still a 5 speed, still a dual sport not really an adventure bike.
The tank on dual sports is always small, but easily remedied with a plastic aftermarket tank. The 5 speed is a much bigger blunder. That and the low horsepower. If it had 45 hp and a six speed, I'd be all over it.

Wow there goes me buying my dream bike next year new 😢
it needs to be $10,000 or under if its the same price or close to of the crf450 id just get the faster lighter crf450
@@Ian-je9cf crf450rl has short service intervals. DR-Z4S hopefully will still have long intervals 😁
6 speed!!
yes, it will be cool for us who couldn't get it new for over 15 years, THIS IS THE POINT - if you dont like it buy the old one and stop yer moaning
So now we have a choice between a 25 year old medicore dual sport and a brand new mediocre dual sport? Option C, which was a new AND IMPROVED version of the DRZ, was what everybody really wanted. Same gripe people had with the new KLR. The Japanese have gotten really lazy lately.
@@jakeviolet2195 the drz400e has been the best road trail bike on the market for 25yrs bar none.
Seems like more of a down grade than anything. But some people seem really happy about it so i guess good for them. Its crazy that japanese trail bikes and dualsports peaked 24 years ago.
I couldn't care less about a 6-speed gearbox. Dual Sports aren't Highway bikes. All these whiny babies... you run out of power before you run out of gears anyway.
Bs.
Cope
I’m with you. Comment echoed! 😊
True true. If you want a dual sport that's more capable on the street, go get a 500 or 690/700/701.
Yay to little way to late. And all the motor mods are just to meat emissions.
The bike is still heavier and slower than a 2004 KTM 525 or 450 EXC. Not to mention the new 350 and 500 KTMs.
Needs a tower
@@demo3003 🤢
Too hight seat for me height 176cm.
@@TU-TAN might be a low seat option of lowering links?
Too little, too late. They dropped the ball on this and now are playing catch up with other manufacturers. The tank is small and still a 5 speed, still a dual sport not really an adventure bike.
The tank on dual sports is always small, but easily remedied with a plastic aftermarket tank. The 5 speed is a much bigger blunder. That and the low horsepower. If it had 45 hp and a six speed, I'd be all over it.
@@EddyOtway most will want an aftermarket tank anyway I’d say. You don’t need a sixth gear if the gearing is right. The old models have survived without it for so long.
@ yeah it’s more suited for dual sport enduro riding, not really for big trips especially with a plank of wood for a seat 😜
2025 tenere 700 actually cheaper

fugly dual sport , not enduro or adventure bike
@@rideordietheyretring2tranx382 with the right gearing you don’t need a sixth gear. If the after market scene comes on board it could be a light adventure mount. Like the previous model.
@@_JoshJB_ between weekend trails and city/hwy commuting, who wants to change gearing? tho it could work, a 6th gear would also work. The efi opens tuning up too, but nothing like having a low 1st and modern geometries with a weeks worth of gear loaded on a high center of gravity. a 6th gear isnt just for interstate speeds,
It has traction control! 😂 an only 38hp at crank, and it's heavier! Fail suzuki.
Needs to be 500cc.
What's the price? To many other bikes out there that are better and make more power.
If you want a 500 cc you can get the KTM EXEC… DRZ4S is fine as it is :)
@FabioSantos-uq9ol i got a pimped out drz400e, goes ok I like it,
My point is why is the new one slower and heavier ? They had a good platform to work with, it didn't need fuel injection, it needed to be lighter with better suspension and gearing.
@@stewartdawes617 I’d say it’s all to do with emissions unfortunately. Hopefully can shed some weight and open them up down the track. The long service intervals set it apart from bikes such as the 500s.
@_JoshJB_ I guess we just wait an see. I was told the frame and swing arm are wider to fit extra gear in gearbox. You know even a parallel twin 400 could of been something here, 50 hp an 10k rev and big kms reliability an long service intervals (ninja 400's etc.) Just gear it up or down to suit. 👍
@@stewartdawes617 you don't want much, a parallel twin 400cc with better suspension a 6 speed that makes 50hp and meets current emission and safety standards.
good luck on your quest.
Smaller tank, heavier, no 6th gear. So many better options on the market. pass!
