- This city is just outside of Amsterdam and it's like it's chilled out, more mature and refined older cousin. It's such a beautiful city and I had such a good time exploring and getting to know the streets and canals.

Another point: Utrecht is cheaper than Amsterdam. A LOT cheaper. Affordable accomodation is very rare in Amsterdam and Utrecht is only a 20 minute train ride away. Do the math. Stay in Utrecht and take daytrips to Amsterdam.
For all people about to visit Utrecht or any other city in the Netherlands: Never buy stroopwafels, or cheese in a so called specialized store. Buy it on a marketplace. Saves you loads of money and you probably get a better product. Nice video btw. Thank you for not only promoting the city itself , but also the surrounding environment. You took your time, which is a very very good thing. It will make it worth to visit Utrecht another time, to see more of it
I missed Utrecht (and the Netherlands) so much. As a Malaysian of Dutch descent, I had the pleasure to study and live in the Netherlands for about 4 years (2013-2017) in Groningen, but I often went south to Utrecht and Eindhoven (usually) on a monthly basis. It's been 3 years and my current university tenure is at Uppsala (Sweden), but once the pandemic officially died down I might revisit any Dutch cities in a future schedule, for now I can't tell.
Pretty cool video! You know, Utrecht has an awesome craft brewery scene as well and even a brewery in the vaults of a medieval castle right along the Oudegracht (Old Canal).
Thank you for this video, Jemima! Made me think about my trip there in Utrecht and the Netherlands that was cancelled back in March. There's not much fairly recent Utrecht travel videos and this one made me look forward to planning a trip there again once this pandemic is over. Can't wait to travel again soon. I think you had an unusually good attitude in traveling in the Netherlands: dipping toes in the local culture but still doing all the necessary touristy stuff. You haven't visited the Netherlands if you've never ridden a bike to Albert Heijn so kudos.

Why do English speakers seem unable to pronounce 'stroopwaffel'? This goes for the English, Americans, and obviously Australians. 'stroop' rhymes with 'rope'. ☺
aah good to know! no one ever told me so i had no idea :)
Because in English, the double o as in "stoop" or "loop" sounds like the Dutch "oe". Different languages, different rules.
