  • Great tips to help you dry and cure your juicy buds
Two things to first take note of.
There is a difference between drying and curing buds.
First you dry your buds, then you cure them, as we will explain further.
Second, drying your buds doesn’t mean putting them into a warm oven and drying them to a
    fragile crisp, no.
Drying is more a case of reducing the moisture content but only so much.
If you ever use rolling tobacco you’ll know what we are talking about when you compare
smoking a rolling with tobacco from a newly opened pouch of tobacco to smoking one you
make with tobacco that was opened a month ago and that’s now as dry as a dead dingo’s
    whatsit!
The first is a smooth smoke, the second is harsh as hell and makes you want to cough your
    lungs up!
So, let’s talk about drying your buds.
You can do this by drying them while still on the branch, or you can trim them first and dry
them on a rack, remembering to turn them frequently to stop them flattening out.
We recommend trimming your buds first as once dry, they are more fragile and prone to
    shedding when messed around with.
Drying should take about 7-10 days depending on the environment, which is ideally around
45-55% humidity as you only want to reduce the moisture content by roughly 15%.
Once dry and you have trimmed buds, you want to fill a mason jar or other wide-necked jar
three-quarters full to allow air to circulate.
For the first couple of days open the jar and check that there is no sign of mould. Allow the air
to change and then seal the jar back up, keeping the humidity level around 62%
After a couple of days, this ritual only needs to be performed once daily, for a minimum
period of two weeks, after which your buds are smokable, but we recommend you wait a bit
longer if you can in order to maximise the flavour and smoothness of the smoke.
In a perfect world you will be looking at buds that have taken eight weeks to cure and inside
the jar keeping the humidity level the same to stop the buds drying out completely.
Once cured, you can also consider popping humidity packs into your jars to stop any further
    drying out of your weed.
Following that, all that’s really left is to sit back and enjoy. Let us know how you go about
curing your buds in the comment section below.

Old school here: after hang dry, put into brown paper bags, single layer, and put in dry, dark place to cure until the center stem snaps when folded. Been working for 36 years.

Here in California, most of us homegrowers seem to all do a dry trim these days. We used to trim "wet" back in the prohibition era because it was all about getting it processed ASAP. And "bag appeal".
These days, after I "buck" the big fan leaves I'll hang the whole plant in my my old 2' x 2' grow tent with an inline fan (on low) exhausting it.
My summer temps can be well over 100f but I aim for a steady 60% RH/60°f for a "long as possible" dry time. In my dry environment, its usually 10-12 days. When the stems are dry enough to snap, that's usually TOO dry, so I have to put them in tubs or jars when the buds feel a little crunchy on the outside, but still spongy. I then may need to burb my jars periodically during the first weeks of cure. A digital hydrometer inside the container helps tell me when I reach that 60% RH target. At that point I might add a Bovida pack to maintain that humidity. Store in a cool, dry, dark place!
I'm not so concerned with appearance anymore ( I don't really sell it anymore) and I can take more time to dry it now. It's ALL about preserving the terps and trichomes instead.
I try to do the least amount of handling of the flowers as i can during my process so as to not damage any trichomes. I'll typically even leave a few sugar leaves on my buds as a protective "bud blanket" (or "farmer's trim" as some call it).
I don't mind having to trim a few leaves off as I break up the bud to roll a fatty! 😂 Speaking of which....
    Cheers!!😶‍🌫️💨💨💨💨

I have found an overall improvement in cured bud being frozen in the curing jars.
Being careful when frozen, the flavor and potency are boosted over the same batch of buds that were stored with moisture packs in the jars and in a dark closet.
When you're confident the curing is complete, pop them in the freezer. When in need, thaw overnight to avoid knocking frozen trichomes off, pick buds , then refreeze.

I recommend fridge drying to anyone who hasn't tried it. Just try it with a couple buds. It's dries out way slower and the bud keeps it's shape, more size and looks way better.
The dry is more even and traps the flavour inside.
Just test them in a jar after 2 weeks, you can even finish the dry in the usual way if you are near enough the cure zone.

Remember when growing outdoors, you have good and bad season's Keeping the moisture in the soil is the secret mulch , plastic sheets etc. Good seed strain is essential . Growing is a good teacher and therapeutic for the soul.

L.S.T. will make indoor take longer but outdoor is always going to take forever unless you grow Autos and those aren't my pref.
If you're doing indoor and you don't want to mess with L.S.T. or wait forever, it might be a good idea to have a veg. room/tent and a flowering room/tent. That way you can "cycle" in a few plant every time you harvest one. Shouldn't be too much work to harvest a plant/month if you veg. in a 2'x2' and flower in a 2'x4'.

Drying time advice is wrong. You do not need to hang the limbs for more than a few days, or until you can feel how much moisture has evaporated. Now remember that the tackiness you feel is generally the Trichome rosin not water. The average temperature for this when you dry outside is between 75 and 80 degrees.
First, I cut the limbs off the plant and trim off all fan leaves even the small ones with scissors. I then take the branches with their trimmed buds and hang them for about three days our of the direct sun. I bring them in for final processing if the moisture content is sufficiently low, and trim off all buds from their branches. When that is done, I leave the trimmed buds to dry for another day before weighing them and bagging them in zip-lock bags.
With my latest crop, I harvested over a Kilo of dried bud for my personal use. I've been growing my own now for about six years. I have no idea what they expect from "curing" as expressed in this video when you gain the same thing from Zip-lock bags. Remember also that those plastic bags do breathe. I have bud from the previous year's harvest that is still viable for my alcohol extractions and there is no mold. We don't need to be so critical if you are a home-grower.
If you are going to try and grow your own there is ample information on the web that can take you through every aspect of your grow, from what seed types you may want to try relative to their costs, to how to feed your babies through their veg growth and what needs to change during the flowering period. GOOD LUCK !

Put in paper bags (the color or how many layers does not matter) you will notice when the stuff is dry no worries. When dry you decide if you want buds only or also some leafs. Put in glass jars for long time storage and gravity will make the stuff stronger the longer time that passes by. There is nothing that cures anything it is just gravity that makes the good stuff sink and build up the lower in the jar you come.

    • @BurninSven1
      @BurninSven1 Год назад

You do not want to burn it you want the vapors only if you can but if not smoke in a small ordinary pipe and smoke it in. If your stuff is any good the pipe will get smoked in pretty quick if it is a small pipe. If you cannot find a small pipe cut it down a bit. Steelwool will work as a stone so you do not have to waste the goodies and do small amounts, just a pinch will work supergood it is any good. If you can find a round little stone that fits yourvhole in the pipe use that. The size of the hole should be roughly max for two sipps. This is the most economical way, if you do not want the big clouds where you let 90 % go straight up in the air whith no good for you at all just exspensive=super low bang for the buck.

Q: Can you use an dehydrator to dry the buds faster

    • @Niko-ku2cr
      @Niko-ku2cr Год назад

Yes, but the rapid drying will degrade it. It will not taste and kick as good as it could of

NO!! You'll end up with straw! Actually, the slower, the better! And NO heat!

🙄...16/60/60...16 days 60°F 60% R/H Then 60 days of curing with a few burping the firsts days of curing...use a Boveda pack 62%! 16 days are needed if you have rock hard buds at this temperature and humidity level...you just need something to move air in the room not on the buds of course!

Im not a fan of wet trimming because u high the risk when u trimming unclean that u had the hay smell on ur buds.
And with the leaves around the bud they dry slower.

Do you smell your own farts from a wine glass, or do you just fart directly in your hand and huff it?
